The good: Beautiful grounds, friendly front desk staff, shower was great and bed was comfy. Also nice that there were 4 chairs in our king bed room. The bad: As soon as we opened the door our noses were hit with a sweet fake-smelling odor. We immediately removed the battery from the perfume-spreading machine. There was a dehumidifier in the room, which made the room extremely hot, even with the furnace turned off (October). The noise and heat made sleep impossible. Finally turned it off at night. Got back one day, and the room smelled musty. I guess that's why they put the smelly thing in the room. Dehumidifier hadn't been running because it was full. I emptied it myself. Then saw how dirty the thing was inside. Disgusting. The place has a humidity problem, and it is not solved by putting humidifiers in rooms.…
Nice property with some eclectic touches and nice landscaping, but the smell of smoke in my non-smoking kitchenette suite put a real damper on my stay. I let staff know about it right away but was offered no options or solutions. It was the first thing I noticed every time I walked into the room. I would also have liked to get some info at check-in, maybe about the wifi, amenities, etc. I didn’t know until my last day that there was a hot tub on site, and apparently there is a free Sister Bay shuttle bus, too, that stops at this hotel that I didn’t know about. I didn’t get info on the free breakfast either - found that info after getting to the room and going through the binder. I only visited the free continental breakfast once as it was well below average. There was some sort of “gel” fireplace in my room. No idea how to use it so I didn’t. There was also a dehumidifier that showed “bucket full” when I got there. Not sure if I was supposed to keep emptying that. Wifi was weak and my TV remote didn’t work. Just a very, very dated feel to the place for the price. The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. The shower head had some sort of touch controls so every time you tried to adjust it the flow pattern would unwittingly change. Again, would have helped to get some sort of “intro” to my room. Staff in general seemed nice.…
This is an older motel run by a wonderfully friendly family. You drive in off the highway and it's a totally different vibe in here, with lots of trees and flowers, grills, picnic tables, ... seating at little iron tables and chairs, ... and as soon as we walked into the room I said, "I love it!". It's small and cozy and just so homey and the lighting is just right. Dark drapes keep the light out at night. We had a first floor king room. We really appreciated all of the grab rails in the bathtub/shower. There is a very minimal continental breakfast but it's enough. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. It's very close to the town of Sister Bay.
The rooms are dark and small. Ground floor rooms are damp as testified by the dehumidifier in the room. We stayed two nights and I had a headache each night I stayed. The grounds are very nice, the hosts pleasant but the fact is this is an older property showing its age. It is often one of the last available, and one of the few during peak season that offers one night stay minimum, where many are 3 night minimum. I've stayed here for the last 2 years because I booked late and it was about the only one with room, but my experience with the dampness and headaches while in the room have put me off booking it again. Window coverings are blackout only, so you have a dark room, or your room is on full view, no privacy sheers. The a/c kind of works, room still felt warm at night. Each room has a mini fridge and microwave but it's a tight fit to get these in. Overall I'd recommend you consider newer properties.…
Great choice for us! We needed a place to stay for two nights. The rooms were clean and comfy. The staff was very courteous and helpful. There was an out door fire pit. Off the highway so no traffic noise. Very quiet. Nothing real fancy, but a perfect place to stay for us.
The staff was the nicest staff we have encountered at a hotel. We talked with Ethan in the lobby sitting having our cocktails and he was awesome. They were always friendly and asked how our stay was going every time we walked in the door. They also were able to recommend places to get any type of meal that we needed as well. A great place to stay in Sister Bay!!
Earlier this week we had rented two rooms for two nights to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and various sites in Door County. We have stayed at this inn over the past several years and each time it gets better and better. The staff personnel are courteous, knowledgeable and very welcoming. A special shout-out to Amanda for her extra special help and advice, which helped to make our trip even all the more enjoyable. Hey Amanda - you are a rock star!!! Suffice to say this is an inn which treats you like family, and we plan on going back there whenever our busy schedules allow it. A great, great place with great, great people working there!!!
My first impression was that it was just a basic, nothing fancy motel room. We are on the second floor. Outside door. Second impression, For $140/night I would expect a clean shower. I checked to make sure this wasn’t just stained, but a fingernail scratched it off. Gross. Check out the pic of the shower curtain! I called the front desk and he came with a bottle of 409, and said he’s only here one day a week and this is the second call he got like this. He apologized and went to clean it himself with a rag and that bottle. He said they are down to 2 Housekeepers and are sold out. He was nice enough and quick to respond. I’ll wait until our two nights are up before posting this review. TV is very poor quality and very small. Super slow Internet. Laminate flooring in bathroom creaks. No closet. Mattress pad doesn’t cover sides of mattress. Mattress hard. Pillows hard. Air condition went on for a minute, then off for 5 minutes all night. It smelled bad when first turned on, too. Second night we kept it off. Ceiling fan was dirty, so I wouldn’t turn it on. Poor night sleep. Awoke to kids crying in next room. Continental breakfast was not Covid cautious. Pastries were those little donuts you can get in a bag at Walmart. We had a bowl of cereal, from a dispenser requiring turning a handle. Germs? The milk was cold. My husband liked the orange juice. I had a Cutie Orange. Second morning we went out for breakfast. Things I liked: Entrance sign looks more impressive than motel is. The place is tucked away in a wooded section right off the main road. Quaint, but should clean up landscaping; it looks unattended. I liked the smell of the soap. The shower head was nice, once we figured out that the round magnet thing was actually a remote to change the stream. All in all, they lost me at the gross shower, and if they can’t keep something that obvious clean, what must the carpet and bedding be like? I wore socks anytime my feet hit the floor. Not sure if they wash blankets, so didn’t use them. Sorry. We won’t be back.…
We recently spent four nights at this very nice , secluded , and comfortable inn. Very reasonable rates for a most pleasant and overall relaxing experience. Room and entire facility was thoughtfully laid out , very clean , and well maintained with spaces to just sit and hang out. A great little light breakfast with indoor /outdoor space is included . The location is just minutes from downtown Sister Bay and convenient to the entire area. The owner and staff were always on site and receptive to guests. Will definitely return and highly recommend this facility.
Last week my Husband and I had the privilege of staying for two nights at your beautiful inn. The Coachlite Inn was the perfect place to get away for a few days and we enjoyed every minute. We had all the bars and grills so close to us along with a Piggly Wiggly. Very convenient.
