We stayed at the lovely Dorr Hotel and found all aspects of the property to be quite lovely. From the cozy, yet modern and inviting lobby to the well appointed quest rooms; we really enjoyed our stay. The complimentary breakfast grab and go items were delicious and a really nice surprise (excellent fresh from the oven and warm orange poppy seed muffins, yogurt parfaits, homemade protein granola bars, fresh fruits, juice and various coffees and teas). We were given tokens for drinks in the bar area upon arrival and appreciated that. All areas of the hotel were kept nice and clean. Staff were friendly and responsive. Our room was on the 4th floor with an ample outdoor sitting area and a gorgeous view of the water. We also enjoyed the hotel location in the heart of Sister Bay with easy walking to the beach, restaurants, bars and shopping. Given the opportunity to travel to Door County again, we would definitely stay at this hotel.

This is a beautiful, brand new, Nordic -inspired, modern hotel. There are so many “pluses”- Most especially the incredibly comfortable beds. I slept like a baby! The room was incredibly spacious and had a balcony that overlooked Sister Bay’s Main Street, so we could see the water as well. Even better, it is just steps away from restaurants and shopping. The Dorr lobby is more of a “great room,” with a center table where people can do everything from work on their laptop to play board games. There is also a fireplace, with chairs and small tables scattered around. Very charming. The included “grab and go” breakfast Featured homemade muffins and chi’s protein bars, fruit, juices & tea and office. Our first morning, there were also individual yogurts available. The only thing lacking was no chair in the bedroom, which the manager said is still coming (the 47-room hotel just opened in May 2021). It would also be nice if there were a sauna or Jacuzzi, as there is no swimming pool. While there were families staying at the Dorr, I thought of the hotel more as something for adults: it is chic, elegant, and the service is beyond compare. I absolutely loved it!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! I do apologize that our chair delivery was delayed and that you did not get to see/use them. They have now been delivered and we have received wonderful feedback on how comfortable they are. We also are in the process of ordering a Barrell Sauna, which we hope to have in place this October. Hopefully you get the chance to return to the hotel in the near future so you can experience the new additions! Thank you again and I hope to see you again! Warm Regards, Amy

We were so excited to stay here, online it looked great! On arrival it looks nice, easy parking, pretty lobby. Two guys at the check-in/bar, ok but not friendly or welcoming. Did get to check in an hour early, so that was a plus, just a little disappointing!

Reserved a suite and we're assigned 312. Looked nice but once in really noticed wear already, bedroom door with large cracks ( see pic) does not shut, fridge does not cool, outdoor vents right by bedroom patio door are loud and constantly on ( bring ear plugs) and your deck looks out directly into the sidewalk and very busy road. All others look out over a green lawn with harbor view, don't know why they would put 312 and 212 on the side.... disappointing for the money. No price break for the lower quality outdoor area.

No housekeeping, they will bring you more towels and possibly pick up garbage if you ask or put out a sign, but spotty and really late in the day if they come. Grab and go breakfast really limited at 8:30 ( goes till 10), out of yogurt and no offer by the 2 staff to get anything. We have gone out each day due to the limited offerings.

We have travelled a lot during Covid and understand that places have limitations, but this is the only place that feels like they use it as an excuse for poor service at a high price point. All other establishments have made up for limitations with excellent customer service and creative ways to make guests feel welcome, not so at The Dorr.

We will finish our stay as it's already paid for, but I cannot recommend it to anyone. Better places for the price!!

Thank you for taking the time to share a detailed review of your recent stay with us. I apologize that you did not care for the view from your room, this particular suite is one of our most requested suites based on the view and location, however, I do understand that it is not for everyone and that is why we do offer other suites in various locations throughout the building, all of them offer a slightly different view and floor plan. Should you decide to try us again in the future we would most definitely try to accommodate a request of a particular view/location. Yes, you are correct, we are experiencing some wear on the rooms already as we have been nearly 100% occupied since we opened in May. Unfortunately, we are having some post construction "settling" and we have taken the steps to rectify the the issues that have occurred. We do have a replacement door on order, but due to COVID, many manufactures are experiencing delays in production. I do apologize for the door being damaged. We do hope to have it replaced very soon. We have taken the direction from the CDC and the American Hotel & Lodging Association in regards to Housekeeping protocols during this time. I apologize if you felt that your requested items were not delivered in a timely manner, our housekeeping department is working very hard to ensure that all of our guests are taken care of and I am sorry if we failed to do so with you. I would like to speak with you directly in regards to the service that you received. Being that you did not share your experience during your visit and without seeing your name or dates of stay on this review, I am unable to address the staff that was involved. We try to deliver the utmost service to all of our guests and it appears we failed to do so. If you have the time, I would really like to get some more detail on the lack of service/friendliness that you experienced so I can take the necessary steps to ensure that it does not happen again. Thank you again for taking the the time to post a review and for bringing these items to my attention, I do hope we get the opportunity to speak so I can address all of your concerns directly. Please feel free to contact me at 920.854.8700 or via email at amy@thedorrhotel.com Sincere Regards,

Spent 3 nights at the Dorr Hotel for our 14th anniversary. Had a nice suite on the top floor (4th) that was very new, clean and comfortable with 2 balconies where we could watch the busy retirement town from 10am to completely shut down and quiet by 8pm! Lol
The Dorr was built well and accomodated all needs.
The only feeling we got was that the staff was not firendly and seemed to feel a bit put out when asked for services, like a light out in the bathroom, forgotten toothpaste, or info about the Whitefish Dunes nearby. The last night we called to get the gas firepit turned on as it had been in nights past - and after checking the lobby...which was shut down and dark at 8:30pm, called the number for service, got voicemail and no return call. We realized that certain nights the hotel staff leaves early and unless someone's got an emergency, no-one cares! When we brought it up at check out to the gal behind the desk after she asked how our stay was,...we told her how nice it would have been to have enjoyed the fire on our last night for an hour in the cool air, she said it was too much of a liability with no-one from the hotel there? We got the impression with the inconsistent timing with some nights the fire on past 11pm and the excuse we got, that they may have been trying to save money, both with the gas and the staff? For the price we paid for the room I told her someone should be available till at least 10pm to accommodate the guests...and she just walked away. Oh well, we probably will not be back to the hotel with uncomfortable staff who ask but really don't listen to their customers. Otherwise beautifully built hotel. And, Chop, the restaurant next door was amazing! Peg, Brookfield WI

The rooms on this property were very large and clean, and it is right off the main drag in Sister Bay. The rooms are very “spartan“ from a decorative standpoint, but that was not a problem for us. The one thing that we did find is a negative is that the rooms definitely need more hooks/hangers to accommodate hanging clothing.

All rooms have balconies looking out towards the main part of downtown Sister Bay and the lake. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful.

At present, there is still no daily room service, but you can get whatever towels or other amenities by leaving a note.

There is no restaurant on the property, and the breakfast was basically muffins, small cakes, yogurt and fruit.

The prices are a little steep, but everything up in Sister Bay at this time of year is. Not sure what the prices will be in the winter.

When we made the reservation in early June, there were three types of rooms identified, Suite, King, and Queen, illustrated only by elevation drawings and no floor plans. We made a reservation online for mid-July for a King room, which was identified in the confirming email as a “King Landing.” Imagine our surprise when we arrived to discover that our King Landing room was one of only two rooms in the entire hotel that did not face the water, and did not have a balcony or even an operable window. Instead, our room had an exclusive view of the large parking lot on the back of the hotel. No choice but to remain in this room for the duration of our stay because, as you might expect, the hotel was sold out.

Even now, months after the hotel opened and after the website was improved with floor plans of the various available rooms, the 'King Landing' floor plan is incorrect (the bathroom is on the other side of the room entrance) and the description includes “Private Balcony.” Not only is there no private balcony, there is not even an operable window!

While the hotel public areas and appointments were very nice, the design and features of the King Landing were not what you would expect from a high end hotel. We can only hope that the other rooms are as advertised.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am sorry if you feel our below room description of the "King Landing" is misleading. King Landing - Our two, "Landing" rooms, provide a cozy king room and affords guests access to all the same in-room amenities and hotel amenities as our water/courtyard view rooms. The Landing rooms are located on the 3rd and 4th floor on the east side of the building overlooking our main entrance. As you can see, there is no mention of a private patio/balcony and it clearly states that we have only 2 of these rooms and that they "overlook" our main entrance. I do hope you give us another try in the future. Regards, Amy

My sister and I loved our stay at The Dorr! The rooms were bright, clean, and big! We did wish there was a better sitting area in the room for both of us; however, there were so many spaces outside our room in common areas that we could sit and enjoy a drink. We arrived much later than expected and the front desk was so wonderful and accommodating by leaving a key and some drink tokens for us! Great location within walking distance to everything is Sister Bay. Breakfast was not impressive... I'd consider going elsewhere. We did also wish there was a hot tub. The free sparking water machine was a nice touch! All in all, we enjoyed exploring a new hotel and will be back!

Hotel was absolutely wonderful and cozy! Loved the welcome drinks, fireplace and games. Rooms were very clean and new feeling- had high quality montauk towels and plenty of space to unpack and feel comfortable. Loved our balcony to watch the sunset, and my husband and I hung outside after the kids went to bed which was perfect. The complimentary breakfast had muffins, RX bars, yogurt, granola, cold pressed juice and coffee. I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend to my friends (if I want to share such a special place!)

From the exterior landscape modern glass fire pits and flowers. Walking in to A beautiful reception area which also serves as a complementary breakfast area in the morning at the front desk. Our room couldn’t have been more perfectly appointed. It’s hard to find a place that is way better than home! This was a true vacation spot to feel pampered in. We had a walkout patio on the ground level, which I absolutely loved I was able to walk out to the fire pit and sit in the evening under the lights & relax with a hot drink or walk across the street for an ice cream. Which I did both😊 The complementary breakfast I think were the best I’ve ever had. Yogurt and a cold pressed fresh juice bottle was an option Paleo bars, granola, coffee… it’s been my favorite place I’ve stayed at in many years
