Detailed Reviews
Lovely furnishings, beautiful surroundings, thoughtful and gracious hosts, and delicious food. Each room is full of collections, every wall, nook and cranny has something to delight the eye. A recitation of the mansion's history and those who left an imprint on it by the hostess, Laura Sue, was interesting and informative. We came for "Mollie's Tea" (the table beautifully set and the food, outstanding) and stayed for the night. A wonderful getaway, we highly recommend paying the small extra to get the full service and make it a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you, Laura Sue and Rick, for a lovely weekend.

For anyone exploring Milwaukee, a visit to the Schuster Mansion Bed and Breakfast is an absolute must! Whether you’re a tourist visiting the city or a local in need of a relaxing staycation, this gem should be on your bucket list – especially if you are a history buff. You will instantly step into the past and forget about all your present concerns. I had a fabulous stay recently and would like to share my experience. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by my hosts, Laura Sue and Rick. They invited me into the Victorian-era parlor for a brief orientation of the mansion. I was so impressed by the meticulous restoration of the property as well as the attention to detail in its furnishings. It was clear that every aspect was carefully considered, from wall hangings to custom-made curtains and drapes. As for my accommodations, they certainly exceeded expectations and were at a reasonable price. The bed was quite comfortable (and I must note that I am picky!), allowing for a great night’s sleep. The next morning, my hosts prepared a wonderful breakfast of my choice: a ham and egg strata with roasted potatoes, along with the most delicious French toast (Laura Sue’s special recipe) on the side. My hosts were most gracious and sat down with me to discuss the history of the mansion, which is located in the historic Concordia neighborhood. I highly recommend a stay here – as well as “Mollie’s High Tea,” when your hosts, dressed in period costumes, serve an impressive selection of tea varieties, along with savory and sweet treats, and tell stories about the historic property and Victorian traditions. You will not be disappointed with a visit to the Schuster Mansion. In fact, it will be a memorable, if not magical, experience!

The proprietors have done an amazing job decorating the mansion with period furniture, art, and knickknacks. The interior and exterior of the house are a visual delight and made us appreciate the history on display. They will ask when you check out if you broke anything, so if you’re clumsy and accident prone, think twice before you book. The guest rooms have A/C via window units, which along with fans kept the room comfortable. They have Roku so plenty of viewing options on the TV.
While the neighborhood is definitely not safe to stroll around in, the house has a serene garden for sitting outdoors and security cameras outside, as well as off street parking.

I was greeted with sarcasm that I “was early!!”’“Arrival time was not for 20 min yet!!!” I offered to leave and come back and felt quite bad and knew this lady was angry and disappointed to see me here. She then yelled at me to sit down on a bench then yelled again to put my bags up as another guest might trip on them tho they stood very close to the bench… my suitcase small. She gave me a quick tour for 30 sec and told me if I wanted a cookie it would cost 1.50$. Nothing was free except earbuds. She hastily carried my bags upstairs despite telling her I wanted to take my own bags up. Some of them had person items in them sticking out. This was the rudest lady I’ve ever run into at a BNB. It clearly ruined tainted my stay. I did not come down for breakfast I mean who would after that kind of greeting. I had almost left. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

I tried to stay here and we were looking forward to it. Booked years ago and due to Covid had to cancel. We asked for a refund at the time and they couldn’t accommodate it as they had no money coming in. This year I called to reschedule our dates and spoke with the female owner several times and she was so rude and condescending over the phone I had to ask for a refund again and she hung up on me. I just couldn’t fathom staying at their home and be treated this way in person. After that happened, I came here and read reviews and I am so happy we won’t be staying! Seems like the owners shouldn’t be in the customer service industry at all!

While I cannot review the wonderfulness of this hotel because we had to cancel I can give feedback on the attitude and "warmth" of the owner. We were on a cross country trip and for personal issues had to cancel our stay at this B & B. I contacted the owner 3 days in advance of our arrival date and told her that I needed to cancel. She said that was fine but we could not get our money back because we needed to cancel within 8 days of arrival. She informed me that I was made aware of that when I booked. That may be the case but I have nothing in writing that so states. She did say that I would receive a credit for another stay within one year. Really! I live in Arizona and the idea that I would go to Milwaukee just to stay in her B &B was somewhat ridiculous. She informed me that all B & B's have this policy. I am not sure about that but sounds like a stretch. Finally, she did not inquire about why I was cancelling. Family emergency, death in family, positive covid test, or whatever, this lady just does not care. Could money be her bottom line? Anyway, I hope she enjoys my $400. Think I will stick to hotels. At least you know what you are getting.

This place is what service is all about. When we were checking in they asked what type of car and color. I told them I had a Kia. Right away Laura Sue got up and fetched a steering wheel lock. She then told me that Kia's are notoriously easy to steal and she did not want our weekend to be interrupted or distressed.
She asked us when we wanted to eat breakfast and offered 4 different options for our cooked to order breakfast. She also asked us if we wanted coffee to tea delivered to our room in the morning.
And the place is an amazing old mansion with incredibly high ceilings. They have the rounded corners where the ceiling meets the wall. And it is all painted. Just like a museum piece.
Do yourself a favor and pick the deluxe service and you will not be disappointed.

What a lovely way to await foot surgery! We booked RIchards Den, in this fabulous mansion, just 24 minutes drive from Menominee Falls Hospital, where I had to check in for surgery at 730 a.m. the next day. It’s sure not the Holiday Inn! Being at Schuster Mansion made it feel more like a vacation. Our host Rick, was down to Earth, fun and informative. My partners early breakfast looked and smelled so special, but alas I was NPO after midnight and could only watch. We were given the run of the house and did explore this cool museum. The bed was divine. The pillows were a bit hard, and I forgot to bring my own as I am like the princess and the pea. Next time! As we will be back.

With out doing too much research before hand, we quickly booked direct and within 15 minutes drove to the property. It was not a restful or tourist location... Which is fine, if I was a person looking for an affordable rental, and nor on vacation...
We immediately cancelled (this was not high season by the way), and the innkeeper kept $50 of our money.
Really?

Response from Rick Mosier, Owner at Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast
Responded Oct 4, 2021
Thank you for your review. It is too bad you did not take advantage of your chance to stay at our Historic Mansion. Your husband really needed an exercise room, so you told us. When did the reason you could not stay change? I always find it hard to understand, how someone can drive by, not stop or enter the house and still be able to evaluate the neighborhood that is the Bed and Breakfast district here in Milwaukee, not stay and therefore cannot know how restful the mansion really is, and on top of that determine how and when our business is busy or slow. Please read the 217 reviews that rated us a 5, keeping in mind that most satisfied and happy customers do not generally take the time to write reviews. They are just going forward enjoying their lives.

What a wonderful and unique experience! My husband came here with his sisters and knew that I would love it. He was right! The aesthetic is Victorian era style and every nook and cranny is filled with something to look at. We had the pleasure of having an amazing breakfast with Laura Sue and Rick and learned so much about the neighborhood and the mansion. They were so delightful and I was so happy with our room. Next time I’ll try the high tea time with Laura. We will most definitely be coming back, there is so much to discover in this beautiful mansion.

We saw a cat there in the morning.
Kimberly this is a question for the owners of the B&B. I wouldn't know the answer.
Hi Daniel,
Miller Park is very easy to get to from the Mansion. 1 mile from our back door to the parking lot. It is an easy walk, bus ride or we could actually drive you there and pick you up right outside the 1st base line for a very small charge compared to what it would cost to park there.
When are you coming? I can check availability for you.
Look forward to having you stay with us.
Rick and Laura Sue
