Very hospitable and attentive lodge keepers and owners. Caroline was very attentive to any questions we had and her husband Tracy keeps everything well maintained and also makes a classic WI Brandy old fashion! We rented the new pontoon boat which was VERY easy to use even for novice boaters and worked perfectly for our fishing and family relaxation needs. Glorious lake for fishing, but we did hire highly recommend local fishing guide John Maier at True North Guides. Four first time Muskie catches for our family of 8. Privacy and quiet with lodge steps away, which was also very quiet. Dogs welcome for those who have canine family:)

Experiencing "COVID-19 fatigue", we decided on an out of town trip and had the best time at Ghost Lake Lodge.Hubby caught a huge 30-inch walleye and we caught sight of a large snapping turtle we called Old Snappy Turtle. We love the place. Carolyn and Tracy were superb and provided great service, making us feel welcome and comfortable during our stay. Cabin amenities are perfect...we look forward to our next visit :)

Our family of five had the best time at ghost lake lodge! Carolyn and Tracy were so kind, warm and welcoming. The place is nestled in a national forest. Its just what we needed during these uncertain times. Our kids enjoyed being kids. They did a lot of fishing, swimming, and hiking. The lodge itself is really neat. They have a bar, pizzas, game room for the kids. If you need a break check this place out. It’s truly a hidden gem!

We were late getting in and worried about checking in. But the new owners were right there to greet us at 11pm when we drove in. There owners and staff were really friendly and helpful. The cabin was very clean and the amenities were nice. They provided lots of entertainment and things to do.

We were not quite sure what to expect when booking Ghost Lake Lodge in early August for a Labor Day weekend retreat to celebrate a birthday and get together as friends. We chose this lodge due to price point and centralized locations (people from both Madison and Minneapolis area). We found the resort atmosphere to be right on-point with what we were looking for. A quiet place to relax and catch up with old college pals. The cabin was roomy (for 6) and clean, great proximity to the fishing dock where the boats were. We were roughly 30 feet from the lodge. The fishing was sub-par which put a damper on the weekend, but the hospitality of the lodge made up for the poor outings. The lodge was ran by an older couple who was extremely helpful and friendly with checking in and out as well as running the full service bar from 12pm-9pm (we took full advantage). We spent almost every night socializing and having a few cocktails before we took the party back to the campfire (free wood). The lodge was a great place to use the wifi, and to catch the scores of the football games. We spent a day relaxing and utilizing the resort amenities such as rental boats, kayaks, free pool table, and heated pool. The record player and large record selection is a great addition to the lodge, we used this space to hangout and held our fantasy draft here. I would highly recommend this lodge if you are seeking a relaxing weekend!

Ghost lake lodge is full of fun and relaxation; watching the sun rise on the dock, and catching our first muskie! My brother and I had a great time playing pool and ping pong. The staff and hosts are the kindest! I recommend this place stay.

My wife and I along with our high school age son just returned from a fantastic week at Ghost Lake Lodge. GLL offers a traditional northwoods experience on a gorgeous no-wake lake nestled in the national forest, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. If you need constant cell service, this middle of the forest may not work for you.But if you want to unwind and unplug, relaxing on the water or in the screened in porch, GLL will not disappoint. Our cabin was 30' away from the water, offering great views of the lake and comfortable furniture. Humming birds were constantly at the feeder, and the sound of the loons and croaking frogs were a welcomed change from traffic and sirens of the city. We were concerned that our son might get bored, but he made good use of the tennis court, pool, and kayaks. He especially enjoyed going to the lodge and making use of the wifi, shooting pool, and spinning some vintage records. Hayward is an easy half hour drive, and there are plenty of dining opportunities. GLL's new owners have an obvious passion to make this a quiet place for families to bond and make great memories. The staff was amazing. We are so glad we took a chance on GLL, and plan on returning.

This place is under new ownership. The people that have owned it in the past were given great reviews on how friendly they were so I can't compare them to the people that own it now but I have no complaints. Andy & Rachel Hursh were very friendly and so was Keith who stayed on after the place was sold. They all did everything they could to make us comfortable. One night Rachel saw I was struggling carrying firewood back to our cabin and she rushed out and gave me a hand. This was a father and daughter trip. We stayed in Cabin 0 and loved it. Very peaceful and quiet. The cabin had everything we needed. Plenty of dishes, fire pit, grill etc. There is very little you need to bring. Alas the fishing was very, very slow. If the fishing was better I would have thought I had died and went to paradise. Plenty of unique places to eat up there. Our favorite place was Dows Corner down the street. People that run the place are Barb, Ken and Pam. Barb is the mom of Elvis. Just pizza there but its a fun place. Don't book online. The first time I tried to book online some great prices showed up later I went on line and prices were very high. I think its a third party or something that does the booking. I called up Andy and got a good price. I called him twice more because even though I booked the cabin it was showing it was available online at a much higher price. Everything turned out great thought. There are many cabins up there but would seriously think about staying here again even though the fishing could have been better. I would suggest though that they may want to stock and sell basics like charcoal, lighter fluid and other simple stuff like that. The Happy Hooker bait shop has all that stuff about 5 miles away around the corner from Dows bar. This is a really nice place and highly recommend. You won't see speed boats or jet skies on this lake.

This place is incredible. If you're looking for a place to unplug and get away and just forget about work and stress, you've found it. GLL is everything that life is not. It's relaxation, reflection, and most of all time spent with those you care about. Nate and Pam, our hosts, will soon win your hearts. Those two love what they do and really love when new people come along. Our cabin was clean, cozy like a cabin should be and amazingly well stocked. Everything we needed was there, the pool, the motorboat. Other reviews mentioned a hotel like experience and expextations bot being met, but guess what? This ain't no hotel. It's a cabin owned by someone that is willing to share their beautiful lake cabin experience with other peoople, and sorry that your expectactions might not be met. This isn't Marriott. We can't wait to go back.

Ghost lake is a remnant from an Era that provided the "american plan" resort experience for families that had money to spend on a quality vacation from the 30's -60's. What's left is a nice, underutilized lodge with a bar that rarely has warm stools, and a combination of resort owned and resort rented cabins. An aluminum rowboat is included with every cabin, with everything else coming "a la carte". Cabins are tired and kind of patched together over the years, flus in the fireplace leak a little smoke out here and there, and the kitchen utensils and pots and pans tired. BUT it's FUN! Great horseshoe pit, lovely surroundings, and an old TV with a VCR and plenty of good movies up near the horseshoe pit in the little recreation cabin. It's all good old fashioned fun... but by today's standards it's not really cheap. Expect to spend $250 or so a night for a cabin that sleeps four. The lake is a "photo shoot quality" backdrop-decent fishing for smaller muskies and not really much else in any big numbers. Bring your camera and some old camp songs and build a fire outside to soak it all up. The host is a pleasant guy, Nate. He'll make sure you are all taken care of.
