The room and motel area was clean and well kept. There is a small pool, mostly used by children. Lacking was the breakfast, a typical motel menu. Our room was very small. The only seating area was at a small table by the air conditioner, which was very loud. I would not stay here again unless I was desperate.
Going to admit I was skeptical. This is an old school small room, doors open to parking lot, 2 story MO-tel. Was worried about cleanliness, noise, safety. Could not have been more pleased - super duper clean, quiet as a graveyard and felt completely safe. If you are looking for partytown please stay somewhere else - this is a family friendly, respectful, well-run family operation. Wonderful experience and we would 100% stay here again even though we’ve paid double the price for less awesome places before : )
Mostly positives from me: 1. Comfortable beds 2. Lovely outdoor seating areas - many of them! 3. Delicious breakfast 4. Friendly, helpful staff 5. Rooms were big enough to house my coolers 6. Great location - centrally located on the peninsula - Red Putter and Lavender store just across the street. Areas of improvement 1. Need a bigger coffee maker for the rooms. 2. Noisy neighbors upstairs at night. It wasn't too bad - I was pretty tired anyway. 3. Could hear toilet flush upstairs.
We spent 5 nights in this adorable motel. I booked sort of last minute, and this was one of the few available accommodations anywhere in Door County, and was also quite inexpensive for the area, so I was a little bit apprehensive. When we pulled into the driveway I was pleasantly shocked. The grounds are gorgeous, with flowers and seating areas everywhere. The colorful buildings made me feel like we had driven right into a vintage postcard! Check-in with Audra was organized and friendly. There are 2 identical looking 2 story buildings and a separate building for the ofgice. Our deluxe queen room was on the second floor of the back building. The room was fairly spacious and nicely decorated with a cheerful floral quilt. It had a loveseat, desk, small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Everything looked brand new and spotlessly clean. The chilled bottle of cherry mimosas waiting in the refrigerator was wonderful! We really enjoyed the beautifully landscaped grounds, which include several gas and charcoal grills, fire pits, a garden swing, and numerous seating areas. A highlight is the pool, which is surrounded by grape vines and flowers and perfectly heated to a comfortable but still refreshing temperature. Breakfast is available every morning in the office, including different hot entrees every day, like biscuits and gravy, french toast, and breakfast casserole. Coffee and cookies are available throughout the day. Because of COVID there was no routine daily housekeeping, but towels, coffee, toilet paper, etc. were all readily supplied when requested. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. The motel is on a quieter stretch of HWY 42, between Ephraim and Sister Bay. It's away from the crazy traffic of either town but still within easy walking distance of Summer Kitchen, Red Putter mini golf, and a few shops. The Piggly Wiggly in Sister Bay is only a short drive up HWY 42. After busy days of sightseeing and hiking, returning to the motel felt like arriving at our own private oasis.…
I recently stayed at this motel. I was forced to book for two nights when I only need one night. A two-night minimum is not uncommon for the area. When I checked in at the office, I asked if the second could be cancelled and they said no. I said fine. I got my keys to my room. The room definitely had a "moldy" smell but I did not say anything at that time. I went out with friends for a late dinner. Got back to the room at 10:30 and again got that "moldy' smell. I went to bed and after just over an hour in bed, I couldn't take the smell anymore. I packed my things, left the keys by the office and drove back to the Chicago area at 11;45pm. I called the next day explaining the odor and wanted to not be charged for the second night. They thought I was just trying to scam out of the second night charge. I explained that I would not drive five hours home on a rainy night to get out of the charge if the mold issue didn't force me to. They insisted there wasn't a mold smell in the room. THE ROOM SMELLS OF MOLD!!…
Another trip to Door County has come to an end. We had another great stay at the Ephraim Motel! The grounds and room were immaculate, the staff is friendly and Julie and Scott make you feel like family. A side note: if you and your family like miniature golf - you can walk across the street the the Red Putter - a Door County institution! Can't wait to come back next year!
WiFi was not of good strength!! That is the only not so good thing we can say about this wow place off a highway. All of the staffs were amazing and really looked after us well. Beds were comfortable.
Nice place, very friendly staff, quiet, great location. It’s not real fancy but certainly does the job and is reasonably priced. Definitely a good value. Near Ephraim where our favorite restaurant Chef’s Hat is and near the Peninsula State Park.
My husband and I desperately needed a weekend getaway and heard Door County was the Cape Code of the Midwest and needed to check it out. Looking at the map it is easy to see that the popular towns of Fish Creek, Sister Bay, and Sturgeon are all a little bit far apart so it was difficult to decide where to stay. Ephraim Motel was perfect! The location was great!!! It is right in between the little "downtown" Ephraim area and Sister Bay's downtown area. Very centrally located with cute mini-golf and go carts near by too. Staying at this motel you really get to fully dive in and explore both Ephraim and Sister Bay easily. We had a short trip so we knew we didn't want to wast too much time driving around and this worked out very well. The motel itself is very clean in the common areas as well as the rooms, and the staff was also very friendly. They provide bagged continental breakfast, which isn't the best ever, but also it was tasty and we appreciated it the effort. They have a pool which is clean and have lounge area around it too. Ephraim Motel also has a fire pit onsite, bikes, and a porch swing to relax in the evening. The rooms are a little bit dated, but given all the other benefits we didn't mind. We would definitely consider staying here again.…
I stayed here for two nights. There are two buildings and I had the one in the back on the first floor. The grounds are beautiful, and the pool was very nice. It did look a lot bigger in the pictures, but it wasn't crowded, so my pool time was great. The room was fine except for the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable as it wasn't firm at all and leaned down to one side. The other negative was the wi-fi and cell service. It was always spotty in the room. It was better at the pool. Everything was clean and I liked the location kind of in the middle of the peninsula. I would stay here again, but ask about the bed before I checked in.
