Detailed Reviews
This was my 3rd trip to Lake Lawn Resort in 12 months; my first since Covid. I’ve been going there since I was a kid. I was with my husband, two kids and friend of my daughter’s. We stayed in a double queen loft with two bathrooms in Norwood Lodge. It’s on one of the farthest ends of the resort and is extremely quiet. We had plenty of space. I had previously stayed in a luxury lodge suite, which was huge, and was concerned about not having enough space for 5 people. We were fine. I’ve also stayed in a regular room in Shorewood West and the noise from adjacent rooms was loud. Our room this time was very clean but there were some issues - a sticky surface residue (perhaps from some type of spray cleaner), room phones didn’t work, dead tv remote, light on patio not working, no table on patio, and a very strong bad smell from the AC unit. We reported the phones and missing table but the responses were half hearted. The smell would strike us every time we entered the room but we adjusted to it quickly and just left the patio door cracked and the bathroom exhaust fans running. We arrived on a Wednesday and stayed till Sunday. As expected, the resort grew more crowded on the weekend. The resort is well maintained with many people cleaning and doing grounds work early in the day. However, the hallways get a little messy later in the day, clearly from careless guests and reduced cleaning staff in the evenings. There is no room cleaning and you must remove your own trash and request towel swaps. In general staff are extremely nice and helpful. Most are young. All wore masks, although many in the food service areas kept them under their noses. About half of guests wore masks inside the hotel. We spent hours at the pool by the Lookout bar and there were plenty of seats. Service at lookout was quick. The cafe service is slow. We rented a pontoon, jet skis, kayaks and paddle boards. The lake was great. It is not an inexpensive place to stay and for the cost I expect a better room maintenance experience, but we still had a fantastic time.

Facilities are a bit dated, but they’re doing what they can to keep things current and in good shape. Staff is very friendly and taking COVID seriously—pool and event staff judiciously cleaning all seats and working hard to accommodate. One family hadn’t made a pool res and the deck was full—the attendant had them wait for a few minutes to confirm there was room in the pool and then let the kids swim for at least a few minutes and then they left. Excellent judgment and initiative while still preserving safety goals—kudos. Felt very comfortable during current situation—lovely vibe to the grounds and facilities. Even the food at the pool was excellent—not just edible, but so good we ate lunch there twice. Well done all the way around.

Great place to stay for the winter holidays. No matter the weather outside, the resort has everything you need to stay in, if you so desire. Multiple restaurants, entertainment, indoor pool, SPA, gym, Gift Shop.
Dining staff were friendly.
Front desk people went out of their way to help us.
If they keep their guest room pricing competitive with other hotels in the area, there is NO reason to stay anywhere else, because this place offers it all.
Love this place.

This is an average resort that is located on the lake however also has pools for swimming. We did have a room that overlooked both and had a loft. The room decor was okay but could have used some updating as the entire resort needed. I do travel extensively professionally and personally so used to more updated resorts especially based on price paid.
The hallways do connect inside the resort so you can walk inside both in summer and winter. They did have a musty smell to them, not sure if it was due to the hot weather we had during that time of just being a little old.
Cleaning of the rooms and balconies could be better. We did have to clean off quite a few bugs on the balcony before we could sit out on the rocking chairs.
The pool was very nice size and temperature was great. The pool is cleaned nightly I believe however by mid-day they should be skimming the pool again. A lot of bugs and leaves from the many trees do take over the majority of the pool which makes it not so enticing to enter in the afternoon. All in all it is an okay resort. Small menu of food and drink out by the pool area and they do have a sit down restaurant however we did not try. Based on pricing and what we value as important to us, we probably won't go back. If you do try the resort, request a room that has both lake and pool view on the second floor. It is a nice view. Thanks and enjoy...J

+1
We just love Lake Lawn Resort. We had booked a two night stay the weekend after Christmas in the Lakewood Lodge, which is disconnected from the rest of the resort and is only short walk from resort (great for summer but not winter with two small kids) and the staff was so accommodating and switched us to a beautiful room in Norwood Lodge so it would be more convenient for our family (even though they were booked solid). The resort is beautiful, cozy and takes you back to a different time...I’m only 37 but it reminded me of the lodge in White Christmas with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. The restaurants are lovely and it’s close to Williams Bay and some of my favorite restaurants there. The indoor pool is nice and the spa was also very nice. My kids loved it and the decorations were beautiful. Even the general store is adorable. Favorite place to stay!

My family needed a change of scenery from virtual school & work so we drove about 90 minutes from Chicago to Lake Lawn Resort and stayed one-night for a close & affordable resort experience. Covid-guidelines were followed throughout our stay, my kids swam, my husband golfed and enjoyed a massage, my daughter also enjoyed the arcade and laser tag! We also stayed in a lovely lake-side suite that was perfect for a family with a fireplace and great lake views. Highly recommend.

Let me start by saying we love Lake Lawn and have been loyal customers for over 40 yrs. We recruited some neighbors to do a one night getaway with us on Valentines Day in order for our kids to swim and burn off some much built up energy. Sadly when we arrived right at the 4pm check in time, we were told that all the pool reservations for the entire rest of the day were taken!!! Whaaaaaat?!
We had just driven 2 hrs and the kids were more than ready to move their bodies, only to be told absolutely no go. We had to scramble to find a nearby hotel to move to where our kids could swim. Definitely a major ball drop here by Lake Lawn for failing to restrict room reservations or at least notifying guests ahead of time that they may not be able to swim.

While I am happy to pay extra for ambience & location, I did expect a bit more for my dollar for lodging. I usually am not so picky, but for over $350/night, I suppose I had higher expectations for the room.
The rooms themselves were ok.
1. The shower heads are great if you are shorter than 5’7”.
2. We also had no dishes except two spoons and 6 forks. A wine key but not a bottle opener. Even a few more disposable cups would be appreciated.
3. Also don’t plan on reliable wi-if. Service is very spotty and wi-fi is unreliable.
4. Extra pillows would be nice
5. Although we had a great corner suite by the lake, we had neighbor boys who constantly knocked on our patio door and looked in our windows. While it is a family friendly resort, be prepared for many unattended children running around and on to your patio. I would have preferred a 2nd story room.
The pros:
On the plus side, the views, on-site food, activities, lakefront, and property in general were very great. After seeing the options around the area, this resort is the best for one stop spot for a vacation.

The check in process was easy and I was happy to see staff wearing masks. My mom is ill so I don't get out much.
The room was clean and the AC worked perfectly.
My two issues: I tried to order room service several times. The restaurant providing that service never answered the phone, and I called at least 10 times. Again, I am trying to have minimal contact with people. I called the front desk and was told that they were really busy. Eventually I ordered food from Grub Hub and asked the front desk to call me when it arrived. They didn't. The only reason I knew the food had arrived was because the delivery man texted me. When I went to pick it up at the desk, it took 5 minutes for anyone to come out and then it was cold.
Nancy at the front desk is wonderful. She accepted my 12pm check out request no problem. There is an adorable red headed girl that helped me when I got lost looking for coffee. The coffee employees were great.
Last issue: I was charged for "not showing up to a spa appointment " on my credit card. I never confirmed that appointment, I simply asked via email what their availability was. I am a care giver to my mom and I don't confirm any appointments until I know for sure that I will be able to attend. I don't appreciate the spa calling my room accusing me of not showing up.

Lake Lawn Resort went above and beyond to ensure and execute an absolutely perfect company picnic. Alex (Resort Manager) was our main point of contact who was extremely responsive, quick to take action and overall a pleasure to collaborate with. He was knowledgeable and provided kind guidance in maneuvering the many details needed to execute a successful event.
The day of the event we were provided with at least (10) team members to maintain our event. They removed empty plates and cups quickly without interruption, and maintained that the buffet was restocked as needed. Angel and Angelica were additional leads/captains in charge of further orchestrating everything runs efficiently.
The food was delicious with large quantities to keep even the hungriest of guests satisfied. Cool wrist bands were provided with tear-off tickets for an easy tracking of drink consumption. The bathrooms general and other public areas were clean and kept at a nice temperature providing folks with some relief from the summer weather.
Overall, Lake Lawn Resort was an absolute knock-out of a venue for our company summer picnic. We look forward to this being an annual outing and utilizing the venue for much more. Thank you for the amazing time!
