Grimston House is just outside of York and very convenient for the University or anywhere on the southern side of the city. It is a very friendly B&B with ample parking and lovely views over the surrounding fields. The three of us stayed in one room which was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast in the morning was excellent and well presented. A very enjoyable stay and somewhere I would definitely recommend.
We were looking for a B&B close to York, to make it easy to travel back & forth and saw Grimston House available & went with it. The property is set back from the road slightly, with an Entrance & Exit Gate. Plenty of parking, all at the front of the house. A well-tended mature front garden bounds the driveway and the flowers/trees/grass looked immaculate. Check-in time is from 3 pm & there is a caveat about late entries, but we arrived within the stated time period. We were met at the door by one of the owners & immediately shown to a double room overlooking the huge back garden. Both owners were welcoming & nothing was too much trouble. We booked this fab place as a short weekend break. The place is well situated for access to both York and Selby plus most areas around The building sits back from the road in its own large grounds. There is a sweeping curved drive with plenty of parking space. The building oozes history and charm from the out side which is also in evidence also on the inside . We were given a very warm welcome by the owners and shown our room number 5.A good sized room this room has a large curved window overlooking the front of the house. The room is beautifully decorated and has a large and comfy sleigh bed a very large mirrored wardrobe. Which also holds the little fridge in which we found 2 bottles of water and a small glass bottle of fresh milk . There is a sofa and small coffee table…
We love staying here. The hosts are so welcoming and caring. Beautiful place, very clean and they have beautiful gardens. The breakfast is catered to each individuals needs. You won't find a better place to stay.
My wife and I spent 2 nights here on 25th. & 26th. May 2018. We could not have been made more welcome. our room was spacious with a great view over vthe garden and the Koi pond. It sems nothing was to much trouble for our hosts. There was even a couple of pieces of very nice jam sponge to enjoy when we returned in the evening. This must be the ideal place to stay if visiting York or the Races or like us attending a wedding at near-by Deighton Lodge.
