Absolutely the best hospitality visit I have ever had in Williamsburg, VA. Both my wife and I were scared to book a BandB post pandemic but this experience is one of the best Ever! Delightful Jefferson (room) accommodations with private entrance, other friends stayed in a cottage! Loved breakfast and genuine friendly hospitable service in a stellar clean facility! Found the location to be easy access for Colonial Williamsburg touring and my favorite lunch spot the Williamsburg Cheese Shop! At the inn EVENING WINE Reception Vaccinated travelers (currently do not require masks!) At breakfast guests have a choice of dining at a table for two or joining others in the Dining Room for a great breakfast shared with other people or family. Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown continue to be open as well as Busch Gardens on Weekends. Debbie and John (owners) made this stay so memorable- We will be back! In fact I am already planning a Winter escape to celebrate an anniversary! We will experience discounted room rates, while enjoying all the usual amenities — Complimentary Breakfast, Afternoon Baked Goods and Wine
Roaring Wood Fireplaces in the common areas, free parking, free wifi and a beautiful Bed Chambers to enjoy that special person. Then back to Duke of Gloucester Street for another proposal (there used to be and probably still is) a bench down from Merchants Square!
I found the room and public areas extremely clean! Parking was a little challenging.
I have become disabled (in a wheelchair) but want to return and stay in FDR Bed Chambers
As it is a first floor bedroom and is located in the West Wing. My wife Dawn and I will want to .Enjoy a king size sleigh bed covered in crispy white quilts. The Sitting area offers 2 retro gold chairs with a flat screen TV to relax after a day of history and shopping. A full bathroom with tub/shower combination continues I may need the wife’s help as the shower is not ADA compliant when I looked.
I like the fact that the room is located in a newer addition to the Inn, the West Wing, but it does require outside steps to enter and navigate! In winter this is going to be a challenge for sure!

My husband and I just finished our second stay here, and as always, the hosts created a warm, inviting experience. Our room, the Ronald Reagan suite, was both spacious and spotless, each breakfast was homemade deliciousness, and the hosts offered a welcoming, cheerful atmosphere. Without a doubt, we will stay here each time we visit Williamsburg!

We really wanted to love this place and booked a two-night stay during a college visit tour of William and Mary. We arrived in a rainstorm and ran the Ring doorbell as instructed. After waiting for about 3-5 minutes in the downpour with no answer, I turned to my daughter and said “should we just try the doorknob?” We were immediately greeted by John on the other side who proceeded to scold us for opening the door and give us a hard lesson on the laws in Virginia that dictate one shall never open a door to a b & b home because it’s a private residence. Whatever, I get it but you have a ring doorbell man, just tell us you’re on your way so we don’t feel like fools in the rain waiting on your doorstep.
This interaction set the tone for the entire visit. We both had such a visceral reaction to the campus and town after this experience however dinner at The Fat Canary did help lift our spirits.
After a brief tour and strict directions given on how to stay at the inn without getting in trouble, we were shown to our room. We stayed in the Lincoln Room which is almost a cross between a Lincoln assassination reenactment and a shrine. It was very clean and cute but the bed unbelievably uncomfortable and I am certain the toilet paper was imported from Russia. Oh my poor tushy!
I’m giving this place a four star review because the breakfasts, coffee & juice were excellent and we really enjoyed sweet Debbie, John’s wife. John did lighten up as our stay went on but his anger and aggression in the beginning was almost frightening. I think this is something the owners can work on, along with giving guests some control of the temperature in their rooms and maybe adding a mattress pad or something to make the beds more comfy and splurging on Charmin.

Well Daphne, You are certainly quite descriptive in your review! We both are certainly sorry that you had such a horrible experience at our Inn. The entire time I spoke with you and your daughter, you never mentioned anything! Nothing about how uncomfortable the bed was, nothing about the temperature of the room and certainly nothing about your poor tushy! Let me explain a few things so the story is clear from both sides. This is a 116 year old estate. A Ring doorbell alerts us you are there, voice activation is limited. There is a porch at the front door, so you were not standing in the rain and I can assure you it was not 5 minutes that you waited. Our phone number is clearly printed at the front door, so if you were out there so long, you certainly could have called us. In regards to just "walking" in, yes, in the age of a pandemic, you Must wait to be greeted. I am sorry, that is for the safety of all of our guests and it is clearly printed at the front door. In regards to your bed, 99% of our guests love it and they actually have asked what kind of mattress it is so they can purchase one. The toilet paper is Scott, so I am sorry if that's not soft enough for you, We have a 300 year old sewer system in the road so soft and fluffy charmin would probably come right back up at you. Most things we do here at the Inn are for the safety and comfort of ALL of our guests. All it takes is a conversation while you are here to let us know of your discontent, instead of a online review. Obviously you did not want us to address the issues during your stay but rather just wanted to voice them in public. Debbie

As someone who never writes reviews, it is absolutely worth it to write one for this beautiful bed and breakfast. My husband and I visited for four nights in early August, in the Lincoln room, and it was perfection. It felt very private, the room was extremely clean, and the separate bathrooms were a nice feature. As someone who really appreciates good cooking, I am still wishing I was there for breakfasts. Every breakfast Debbie cooked could not have been better. The breakfast enchiladas....my word. The wine and port available downstairs, and dessert snack, each day were a special touch! Debbie and John could not have been more hospitable and friendly to be around. The location of the White House is only about a 10 minute walk from historic Williamsburg and multiple great dining spots. Honestly, we continue to say how glad we were to have had this time away and that it really was in the perfect place. Thank you!! We will be back! And, as a travel agent who can be a bit of a hotel snob sometimes, I 100% recommend a stay here!

The occupants of this Williamsburg white house know how to treat their guests. Traveling back to Williamsburg with my daughter for the start of the W & M spring semester, we wanted to stay somewhere a little special for the night. My daughter did an online search, discovered this gem, read the reviews and booked a room. When we had to make a last minute change to our reservation, Debbie was both understanding and accommodating. We arrived, parked in the cleverly labeled parking spot of our choosing and made our way to the warm and comforting foyer of the inn. Surrounded by presidential memorabilia, we were greeted by our hostess and treated to some friendly and unhurried conversation which we found very relaxing after a 7 hour trip in the car. After giving us instructions about the next morning’s breakfast, she escorted us to our room - the JF Kennedy room. Freshly decorated, the room was spotlessly clean, nicely appointed, very quiet and complete with many black and white framed photos of President Kennedy and Jackie. Breakfast was delish, and we were fortunate to dine with charming guests visiting for the weekend. I would not have changed a thing about our stay.
Located just across the street from the William and Mary campus (very near the business school building), it is a short walk to Colonial Williamsburg attractions, shops and restaurants.
We will most certainly stay in this white house again!

My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying at the Williamsburg White House Sept 3-5, 2021, as the inaugural guests in the new Ronald Reagan Room. Upon arrival, I selected the "Chief of Staff" parking spot, directly in front of the inn. We were greeted by John, who gave us a thorough introduction to the property, events and hot spots in town. John escorted us through the well manicured yard and gardens to the "west wing," where our room with beautiful hardwood floors was on the first floor. It was absolutely amazing, from the themed pictures to fine details, dark blue trimmed tray ceiling, luxurious linens, and inviting feel, it checked all the boxes. The bathroom was a great size with lots of storage, and the shower was huge! Breakfast was served by our hosts, Debbie and John, and it did not disappoint -- coffee was hot and delicious, and food was freshly prepared and truly top notch! Fresh cookies and wine are available afternoons, in addition to well stocked candy dishes throughout the inn (yum!). We have stayed in many B&Bs, but this is truly one of our very favorite. Debbie and John couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. There is no doubt we will be returning to stay in the beautiful Ronald Reagan room, and we may even plan an intimate garden wedding there. Thank you for being wonderful hosts for this amazing historic inn.

The "White House" was our fifth lodging on an 11 day trip. We truly saved the best for last. Prior to our stay, communication was ongoing and thorough. Debbie and John were easy to reach, whether by email or phone, and all questions were answered fully and politely. Upon arrival, we were met by John, the fast talking proprietor. He was entertaining and informative and used the "3D blueprint/diorama" to help us get our bearings of the area. The main common rooms are beautiful and historic. We also enjoyed the satirical touches placed around all the rooms. The brownies and wine were a nice complement to our indoctrination of the property. The tour of our three rooms proved that each and every room is well-appointed and beautifully carries out the room's theme. The rooms were clean and comfortable and easy to get to, even while navigating steps with heavy suitcases.

As a group of middle-aged women who have taken annual trips for the last 10 years, we know the experiences and accommodations that exceed our expectations and the "White House" does not disappoint. The sit down breakfast with table service was an incredible experience. Our group of 6 was treated to a delicious and filling meal cooked by Debbie and served by both Debbie and John. But the true highlight of the breakfast, and our Williamsburg stay, was the privilege to have breakfast with Al, a 98 year old WWII veteran, and his lovely wife, Carol. It was both ironic and flattering that they were more interested in our annual trips than in dominating the conversation with Al's war experiences, although we were more interested in their life experiences. The result was a wonderful meal accompanied by all of us sharing experiences. We were even able to convince Debbie and John to participate in and contribute to our banter and laughter. The day's start was a highlight of our 11 day adventure and is now one of our favorite memories.

The Williamsburg White House and it's wonderful hosts provided us with an amazing and memorable experience. Debbie and John and their staff are exceptional representatives of the hospitality industry. From cleanliness to amenities to accommodations to the personalities of the hosts themselves, this was a first class experience in a first class establishment.

Just a delightful stay! The rooms are themed around the various presidents-- they're immaculate and tastefully decorated, with the presidential theme never descending into kitsch. Breakfast each morning was one of the highlights of each day, and the inn itself was less than a 15-minute walk to Williamsburg. You could put this in Siberia and a stay here would still be a joy: but the proximity to Williamsburg was a real plus.

My wife and I recently stayed at A Williamsburg Whitehouse. We were in town for a big family wedding and needed to stay within walking distance of the historic district. We didn’t want to be bogged down with driving anywhere for 4 nights, so its location was perfect. John and Deb were fantastic hosts. John gave us some great tips for dining out during our stay and his suggestions were right on point.
The accommodations were comfortable and well appointed. They seemed period correct for a 100 year old Inn. If only we had visited during the colder weather. There was a fireplace in our bedroom!
It was a great time to mingle with other guests in September. It seemed that we all were coming out of a pandemic-induced hibernation and were welcoming the socialization that comes with staying at a cozy Inn like this.
When it came time for breakfast, we enjoyed some new twists on well-known dishes, like Stuffed French Toast, which I might not have ordered in a restaurant. My wife and I had never had Baked Oatmeal before and it was very different and delicious. Deb was very gracious and forthcoming when we asked about ingredients. She didn’t hold anything back and was happy to share recipes with us.
In short we found A Williamsburg Whitehouse to be a charming place to stay as well as a good value at a time when everything seems to be too expensive.
We would highly recommend staying a A Williamsburg Whitehouse while visiting this beautiful historic town.

In our opinion, this Bed and Breakfast is by far the best place we have ever stayed. Our favorite room is the Lincoln bedroom, but each one of their rooms are beautiful and always extremely clean and well kept. Every breakfast is incredibly well presented by the host and hostess with a friendly and gracious bit of discussion about what you have planned for the day. The food is absolutely delicious! This beautiful home is within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg. Don’t miss this wonderful experience, because you will meet great people and want to return often. We go every chance we get, and each experience is better than the last. My husband and I have come to consider John and Debbie good friends.
