Detailed Reviews
I booked with Econo Lodge online, and received an email confirmation from Econo Lodge. When we arrived, there was a sign on the front door of the Econo Lodge stating that there was no longer a front office attendant, and we would need to go to the Quality Inn next door to check in. The Econo Lodge building looked fully abandoned and looked like that had been the case for several years. At no point prior to our stay was this information conveyed to me. We went to Quality Inn and there was no desk attendant. We had to call out several times to get someone to respond. She was very friendly and it is not clear why we had to call out to get her to come to the desk- it is likely not her fault. We checked in. The room cost us over $200 for the night- it was one of the last available anywhere near the college graduation we were attending. We were certainly not expecting a 4 star experience at an Econo Lodge, however even though the room was represented as clean, it was gross. That is coming from someone who tends to be slobby at home, so consider the weight of that. When it was shower time, I took the tubside towel/mat to put beside the shower/tub for when we were done showering, and it had a dead roach on it. The walls were paper thin and it was hard to sleep with the noise of other guests. The next morning, we went to have breakfast (which had been advertised as free with our reservation) only to see a sign on the breakfast room that said Econo Lodge guests had to pay extra for breakfast. I went in anyway, and the breakfast buffet was pathetic and sparse. I came out and the desk attendant asked if my original reservation was with Econo Lodge- as if I was going to let her charge me for accessing the room. Again, like the other attendant, she was pleasant enough, but I am sure the corporate office forced this on her. I would highly discourage anyone from booking a room at this establishment. I will be filing a dispute with my credit card company for the charges we paid for this dump.

This place is awful in every sense of the word. It’s a hotel / apartment. We walked into an argument between a couple and a dude handing someone cash thru the door. We walked into our room, looked around and walked right back out. The floor was nasty, the bed was nasty, the furniture was scratched up and not even in “good” condition, the toilet paper holder was barely hanging on and the shower was disgusting. We went back to the desk and got our money back! They gave us a discount to stay at the sister hotel. Never. Again! Clue #1 was having to go up the hill to check in. Please do yourself a favor and just DON’T!!

Worst hotel ever. When you walk in, you are hit with a terrible stench. The sheets have hair in and on them. The toilet paper roll was on the last piece. There is no reception desk…. Only an abandoned broken desk area which has never been vacuumed. The room was so nasty I bought a bunch of Lysol and still felt uncomfortable. Stay away.

DONT STAY HERE!!! This has to be the worst hotel experience I've had. The rooms are filthy and outdated. There is no staff that tends to the building except for The Quality Inn next door where they have one person tending to both properties. The first room they sold us was wide open when we walked up, and upon entering the room you could tell it hadn't been cleaned in a while. There was also a strange smell in the room, which come to find out was from rotting apples in the dresser drawer. The front door is not locked at night, which is a huge security flaw. Especially with no front desk clerk.
Here are some other amenities that were highly undesirable in our rooms.
*toilet seat was not bolted to the bowl
*pillows were dingy and old
*keys didn't work(we had to walk back to the other hotel 4 times to before we were given rooms that weren't repulsive)
*the cups in the room had rat or insect bites in them
*brown stains on the carpet
*every room smelled stale and uncleaned
*there appeared to be a homeless person squatting in several rooms
*zero maid services
*lampshades were absolutely filthy
*the phones and cameras don't work
*towels were dirty
*they advertise breakfast but there is none, and if you go to the Quality Inn they try to charge you.
These are just some of the things that we experienced. Management gets there at 9am. We went to address these things with the property manager and he was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He refused to give us his name. He was an Asian Indian fellow and claimed not to be a manager or give us refund. He finally did once I said I would get the police, BBB, health inspector, and his corporate office involved. He initially told us we should have slept outside. I will never stay at a CHOICE HOTEL property again. Don't waste your time or money here. If you check the other reviews you'll see that despite the negative reviews nothing has changed. They don't give a flying f*ck! I wish I had extra hands so I could give it 4 thumbs down.

Dear Guest, I'm really sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds like you went through an incredibly frustrating and unacceptable situation. The conditions you described are far below any reasonable standard for a hotel stay, and the lack of professionalism from the staff only makes it worse. Reporting this to the proper authorities and leaving detailed feedback, as you did, is definitely the right step. It's disappointing when management doesn't take guest concerns seriously, and I hope your future stays elsewhere are much more positive. Sincerely, Hotel Manager
