A great place to stay very near the ferry terminal for Kangaroo Island. We stayed in a lodge/chalet and recommend you try and get one of these for your stay it is ‘self contained’ and has en suite bedroom and lounge/diner. Excellent car parking. A good restaurant on site ‘The Kiosk’ and the pub nearby also does great food. The hotel has a swimming pool and a crazy golf/putting course. A very comfortable stay and highly recommend.

Room was clean and fresh and very comfortable. Staff were welcoming when checking in. The whole place has more rooms than you first think. Great location just up from the ferry terminal with views across the water.

We had a 3 night getaway at the Seafront after travelling to Kangaroo Island vi the Sealink. Location is perfect with the hotel a very short distance from the ferry terminal. A small town and everything was walking distance. The location was great with brilliant views of the ocean from our room. We even saw 2 whales from our balcony. Room was basic and needs a bit of maintenance but it was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We have visited KI twice, first time we stayed in Kingscote which was great and a little more central. Penneshaw is a small, very friendly town and great location for the ferry. Had a great time

Don't be fooled by the photographs on this hotel's website - it's probably best rated as a 2-star. The good: close to the ferry terminal. Rooms are spacious with tea / coffee making facilities and toaster. All rooms overlook the sea with a balcony. Free, self-operated laundry facility on-site. Parking available on-site. Check-in efficient and friendly - staff helped with luggage. The poor: Penneshaw is at one end of Kangaroo Island which means a long drive to get anywhere else. No lift to rooms on first floor. Reception is not manned 24-hrs. Thus a fire alarm at 5am went unanswered until a staff member arrived from elsewhere. Breakfast choice is limited for the inclusive breakfast (if you choose B&B) - you can only have one of tea or coffee or an orange juice. No buffet; order your choice from the kitchen bar. Gluten-free bread is available. The hotel has a restaurant - again order from the kitchen bar, Note that one day a week the only food available is pizza. This was problematic for a gluten-free diet. After some difficult discussion the chef offered to prepare a risotto which was actually very tasty.

We were checked into our garden villa for one night by a very pleasant lady on reception, and would loved to have been able to stay longer. Our villa was very clean, comfortable and quiet. No complaints from me whatsoever. I would definitely stay here again.

This accommodation is advertised as 4* but is more like 2*. We had an upstairs room for 3 nights. When we checked in the interior of the whole hotel and the room looked very tired. Our outside balcony was filthy with cobwebs all along the windows - my husband went down to reception to asked for a cleaner at 3pm but the cleaner had gone home for the day, so he said he would do it himself and they gave him a cloth. I tried to wipe the outside table but it was so ingrained with and dirt I couldn’t get the cloth through it. I had to use washing up liquid and a cloth to clean it. Next day we were told a ‘deep clean’ would be carried out - but this was not done properly. There was still someone else’s hairs in my bedside table. Having said all this - The food for breakfast was one of the best meals we had on the island and also a superb evening meal in their recently refurbished restaurant. Also Alison who works in the restaurant in the morning and on reception in the hotel was lovely, friendly and very helpful The views from the hotel were wonderful. There was an area to wash and dry clothes which I did use, but again, the whole area just looks run down and dirty. This tired hotel in my opinion needs a lot of work on it to bring it back to a 4* accommodation.

We stayed in room 3 downstairs and whilst it had a view of the ocean the walls are thin in thus building, upstairs was room 10 with possibly unsupervised children jumping from beds and running around very noisy, after 7 pm the front desk is not manned so you are stuck with persistent noise, we unfortunately booked no refund and chose to forfeit $189 second night and leave ad the noise was that bad from upstairs room - even when it appeared adults returned to upstairs we may as well have been in their room as we could hear their drunk voices as though we were in their room - also they checked us in and the power meter was being upgraded and no power until about 4 pm and no apology or for warning of such, do yourself a favour and not stay in the motel section villas are more like cabins but may have been ok- service though is little to nothing - one if the worst accomodation ever had. Sorry to be honest but sometimes people need to.

Lovely position near the water. Amenities very clean and modern. No dryer or dump point though. We used the park as a base for exploring the northern and eastern aspects of Kangaroo Island. Check in was at the seafront hotel. Fairy penguin sightings at night bear the caravan park.

The staff were lovely and I do not want to take anything away from home incredibly helpful and lovely they were. They assisted with providing us a hdmi cord when we asked but they did fail to provide anything special for the stay which was asked for by email (only asked for a note.) My only issues were with the hotel itself, with the pool now being out of commission for 6 weeks, the ‘sauna’ sign out the front being wrong as it hasn’t been there for years and the mini golf being closed. Additionally, the bed sheets had stains and rubbish was not removed from our room when it was serviced and the hotel struggled to give us a mere 15 minute later check out. The bathroom door didn’t lock, the screen door to the balcony (great view) also was broken. I can understand all of these things being wrong, however at over $200 a night this really was very disappointing to have this experience on a romantic get away. The location of the hotel is great though, with great food nearby, IGA and BWS a very short walk away and a fantastic view and beach front stay which is right next to where the ferry docks.

Went here to pay for fees at 12.00pm for caravan/RV park we had booked for 3 days and were told we could not get to our site till 2.00pm. Why not we asked ? Company policy ,unpleasant woman told us. BUT if you pay an EXTRA $15 you can get in now. Could not believe it. Aussies DO NOT liked to be RIPPED OFF!! Need to reexamine themselves.

Response from Nicola Purvis, General Manager at Kangaroo Island Seafront
Responded Nov 15, 2022
Hi Laurie, Sorry you felt we ripped you off for an early checkin. You asked to check in at 11am, as our website clearly states check-in is from 2pm (pretty stock standard time) we do allow sometimes early checkins with a fee, as electricy and water is used with in those 3hrs. We have never had a complaint about this fee in all the years we have been operating the Seafront Holiday Park. You had a choice not to accept, and checkin at normal time of 2pm.
