We went here for dinner once.
We had Degenfisch and Espada from the beef. The portion was big and quality was very good. We were so happy with our evening and pricing was ok. Some say it is a bit to high for Madeira. But we think for this quality and quantity it was reasonable.
We even got a spirit on the house.
Service was friendly.

We would go there again and recommend it.

Stopped by for a coffee. Easy to park. Nice cup of coffee and. Great slice of apple pie and vanilla ice cream.

Nice gardens and friendly service.

Returned twice since the first time. Always the same.

Would take friend and relatives here for good value in a nice easy atmosphere.

Easy to find and free parking out front.

Visted twice as our hotel was on way down in Canico de Baixo (Four Views Oasis). It's a nice spot overlooking hotels etc below and, more importantly, the sea - lovely view! Klenks Cafe has space both outside and inside, with old-fashioned rustic feel to it.

First dinner for three cost 54 Euros:
Drinks = 1 Brisa Maracuja (passion fruit soft drink), 1/2 litre Sangria, 2 pints of local beer (Coral)
Food = 1 Wienerschnitzel, 1 Mixed Grilled meat, 1 Bratwurst.
Dessert = 1 three balls ice-cream, 1 dessert of the day

Everything was nice, apart from the Bratwurst - it lacked flavour and would each much better ones from simple street kiosks in Europe.

Second dinner for three cost 67 Euros:
Drinks = 1 Sprite, 1 litre Sangria, 2 pints Coral
Food = 1 grilled meat, 2 Bacalhau (which we had to pre-order a day before)
Dessert = 1 tarte de maca, 1 two balls of ice-cream

Everything was nice. However, we were somewhat disappointed with the Bacalhau. Really looked forward to it - big fan of Portuguese Bacalhau - especially having to pre-order it. Perhaps too high expectations. The dish was big, so a bit of a struggle to finish it. But it was nothing special - tasted like a general fish pie - without the distinct taste and flavours you usually get in Bacalhau. It filled the belly and nothing wrong with it. Just OK. Added to that we had to wait a long time for the food (same for our first dinner).

We stayed in an apartment complex next to Klenks for three weeks in February / March 2013 and ate at Klenks restaurant four times. The food and service were excellent on each occasion and, when compared with some of the tourist-trap restaurants in the local area, the restaurant provided excellent value for money. The menu is international, with a heavy emphasis on German-based dishes, but they do the usual Madeiran dishes as well - scabbard fish, skewers of excellent beef, the local garlic bread, tomato soup with egg, etc. Having tried the soups at three other restaurants on the island, Klenks came out top by a long mile. Homemade, thick, with a dollop of yogurt on top and a poached egg at the bottom. Most of the other versions we tried were watery (possibly tinned) with a half hard-boiled egg thrown in.

The food at Klenks is freshy made and the vegetables and potato choices are very well prepared.

The service is attentive, there is parking available, they brew their own beer (very good) and it is excellent value for money - highly recommended if a bit off the beaten track.

This little gem was hidden up a steep hill (nothing unusual too be honest in funchal/Santa Cruz area of Madeira)
It was extremely busy when we arrived and the lovely waiters forewarned us that there could be minimal hour wait for food 🍱
We decided to stay and enjoy the views plus it gave us chance to catch our breath back
But the waiter snuck our food ticket in front and it was pretty quick
The portions are massive and quality is epic I personally couldn’t finish it so he wanted too box the leftovers up for me
I stupidly declined not thinking I could have treated the stray cats along the promenade as there gorgeous and friendly and locals take really good care of them.
Would 100% percent recommend but maybe reserve ahead of time as it was packed
The live music was also great a really enjoyable last night on the island

Klenks Cafe accommodation was a clean and simple en-suit room, with a hot, powerful shower and a great view down to the ocean. Breakfast in Klenks was hearty and plenty of it. A selection of bread rolls, cheeses, meat, an amazing pumpkin dip that Joe our host every morning, made. We had fresh fruit and yogurt and a pot of hot tea. Just what you needed before a days diving. Andre and Joe were the perfect hosts.
The restaurant in the evening served some of the best meals we had while staying in Canico. It has a love terrace with views out to the ocean. Definitely recommend stopping here for food

Very clean and welcoming place. We had chilli garlic prawns to start which were lovely and spicy. I had steak cooked with balsamic and it was amazing. I have never had crispy steak before which was cooked medium but had a thin crisp layer a bit like crackling on it. Two of my favourite things wrapped into one. Recommend to anyone in the area.
