Took ferry from Sandakan to Zamboanga, arriving 32 hours late at 11pm (that's another story) so was happy to find Sky Park Hotel, assisted by a kind local. Hotel needs a renovation, but has all mod cons, aircon, wifi, hot water, room phone, breakfast included and clean rooms. Bathroom is clean but very tired looking. Area is considered safe & I did not feel nervous or threatened, although I did not venture out at night. Rates are very good & staff more than helpful.

I'm not sure if I looked around enough but I think this was the most decent hotel in Zamboanga. I agree the hotel is a bit old, and they really need to work on their food. However their utilities are quite updated, they have flat screen TVs, a minibar, hot and cold shower, and they also serve free breakfast. Brown outs often happen around the city, and this hotel is not entirely brown out proof. They do however have generators so that's a real savior. They also have a very accommodating staff. There was this tall bald guy ( a staff from the airport) who fetched us at the airport and gave us a good orientation of how to behave in the city and where to go. He was very nice and very helpful such a shame I didn't get his name.

For those people who are not that sensitive with the rooms and got only few budget for the trip Sky Park Hotel is just perfect for you. This hotel is for sleeping only and they have complete amenities. This is designed for backpackers. I can recommend this to backbackers but not for honeymooners. Try it.

The room needs renovation. I can say that they are not maintained. The CR was dirty, the TV has no remote control, air-con and curtains are dusty. One thing I like is the hotel staff are very courteous and helpful.

I go to zamboanga 6x a year for a 1 and a half day stay.If I remember it right, I have been traveling to the area for 8 to 10 years. Back then (early 2000+), Sky park was one of the newest hotels in the district. I stayed there once, It was nice a new. I just loved the location. But when I came back last April 2012, the room I stayed at was quite old. I think their curtains were still the ones that were installed when it was opened. Instead of bright red, it was dark red due to the thick dust that covers it. The room needed renovation badly. There was no hot water in the shower. Insects or small cockroaches comes out when the light is off. The CR design is very poor - imagine the toilet and the shower enclosed together. So the area gets wet when you take a bath... how can you use the toilet bowl when the floor is wet... specially difficult for women because your clothes will get wet. I also reported the concerns to the management. I did have internet connection WIFI for free, just ask the front desk for password, which they had to activate before you can use. Their food is good. Their room rate is Php900 per night for single room. But late check out have a half day charge. Their airport transfer going to the airport also have a charge of P250 (if I remember it right). I even applied for a corporate rate to get a 20% discount on my next stay. But after this stay, I don't think I would go back there. There are a lot of newer hotels in the area. I'm still searching for a better alternative. I have been staying at YANGS HOTEL for the previous years. Old hotel though, but friendly staff, P600 a night. no internet connections. don't expect much services. Also needs renovation.

A 10-storey building, so far the tallest hotel, located at the heart of the city. Didn't really stay in this hotel but I've been here twice for dinner at the restaurant at the topmost part of the hotel building. They offer good food which is a mixture of Filipino, Chinese and Japanese cuisine served in a reasonable price plus you get a great view of the city especially at night. Transportation (tricycle) is very accessible and available anytime except in the wee hours. Surrounded by banks, grocery stores and bazaars, fast food chains and bakeries- everything you need is just a few steps away. Malls like Mindpro, Southway Square and Gateway are located nearby. The downside is that there is no parking area and it's better off using the elevator as the stairs would really annoy you.

At first I was given a small single room first night which was "adequate", then following day I was moved to larger double room (705) on 7th level with nice large bathroom and desk for browsing internet paperwork etc. Beds were okay. In total I was charged 9,615 Php for my stay from 2am on 26th to lunchtime on 31st - January 2011 - which included 405 Php for "mini-bar" drinks. My biggest gripe was with hotel internet connection and availability - they operate a 24 hour connection requiring payment + re-connection, which lasted 12-18 hours if I was lucky, was slow and very unpredictable - would cut out without warning and took interminable time to fix with the "hotel management". This was crucial for a foreign traveller like myself trying to make travel bookings, online banking, email, etc. I became incensed when disconnected several times in the middle of credit card purchases for travel etc. Hotel staff had no idea what I was complaining about - they obviously hadn't travelled much. Why cannot hotels just include a simple REASONABLE charge for wireless connection in their room rate for the duration of your stay - without this idiotic turn on-turn off arrangement - if indeed they can justify charging anything? Some budget hotels manage to include a "free" wireless connection, so my message to Sky Park Hotel Zamboanga is "CHANGE-FIX YOUR POLICY BEFORE I EVER RETURN" ok ! Other than that specific COMPLAINT - the lift worked okay, and the 10th level restaurant was very pleasant for meals and a birthday celebration for my hosts who showed me around Zamboanga, and celebrated their birthdays with family and myself in late January 2011. The views from there are very good over the CBD and nearby port area although the nearby rooftops looked rather shoddy from the highest building in town - see photos. The best feature of Sky Park Hotel is its central location, being a short walk to Shopping Malls, and other services a visitor would want. Paseo Del Mar the eatery-music venue by the harbour and seaport was about 15-20 minute walk past the Lantaka Hotel, several travel agencies and airline offices. If you fix that internet issue, Sky Park - "I will return" - as General McArthur once said.

We had a good stay, and met a friendly staff, they were coming quickly if needed, we had a beautiful and nice view from the gallery at 10th floor, where restaurant and breakfast room are placed. The hotel is located in the center of the city, easy to go from there with a tricycle to all points of the city and outside of the city, hotel rates are reasonably priced, but no breakfast including, quite rooms, even it is a busy location.
