We stayed in the Bell Room which was generous in size, had a walk-in shower, a 3 bay window and a side window, lots of light. The Bell Room with its beautiful view is on the main floor with easy access to two sitting areas and the kitchen pantry where there is coffee, tea, and ice during the day. Everything was perfect from the breakfast to our room. The delicious breakfasts were varied each day, beautifully presented, and served in the dining room. Frank and his wife have gotten everything right in running a B&B. We will return in 2022 without a doubt.

We were in search of a family and pet friendly b & b in the lower stretch of i81. After tons of failed attempts, we figured it just wasn’t an option to find a quaint place that would accommodate our needs. I stumbled upon Rockwood Manor and gave a call. It was later in the evening but my call was still answered and to our surprise they had a room left that would fit our desire. Everything else about this stay couldn’t have gone any better. Frank and his wife were extremely friendly and we immediately felt that they were just good hearted people enjoying what they do. The building and its details must be seen to be appreciated and it has a cozy charm that only its guests can experience. The grounds were full of history and character overlooking a Mountain View. The breakfast met all our needs as well and we even enjoyed exploring their barns, petting the horse and donkey, checking out the neighboring cows, and playing ball with our dog in this sprawling landscape. Frank and his wife are people we felt we’ve known for years. If you’re questioning staying here, don’t. You Will Not be disappointed. Thanks again to Frank and the staff. Five stars without a doubt.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay at Rockwood Manor! The grounds were more spacious than I expected, with plenty of walking room and the scenery of farm remnants. The wrap around porch with two sides was a great place to just relax. Morning coffee and a small fridge with water was located just outside our upstairs room. Day trips to various places were fun, but we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and just taking it easy. (Although I did turn on the TV in our room once to watch a golf tournament.) Breakfast each day was superb and provided an opportunity to meet other travelers. Frank couldn't have been more pleasant and accommodating, and we were blessed to enjoy the company of his sister and mother who were visiting when we were there. We learned much about the history of the family and the property from these gracious people. When we left, I told Frank I thought we had found a home in Virginia, and he responded, "You have!"

We stayed at Rockwood Manor for several days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Frank and Rochelle are very kind and hospitable, and the house is extremely comfortable. We enjoyed wandering around the grounds, rocking on the porch, hanging in the library, and playing a few games. Breakfasts were big and absolutely delicious.

Rockwood was also a great base of operations for exploring the area, which has a lot of great outdoor recreation to offer. It's a short drive (20 minutes or less) to Claytor Lake, and the New River, with all its options, is close by.

This is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting/dropping off college students. Also great for families traveling together, because the common areas provide a welcoming, comfortable place to hang around together when you aren't off doing other things. Very accessible to 81 if you need to stop off on a longer trip.

My daughter attended VT from 2017 to 2021. We had never known about this particular place.
A visit for my daughter’s boyfriend’s graduation prompted us to search for accessible lodging because I use a wheelchair and need accessibility. The owner of Rockwood Manor, Frank Drummond was incredibly helpful and made our stay completely comfortable and very safe from start to finish. Such a beautiful piece of architecture. The details inside this mansion are gorgeous. We had a wonderful stay for our two nights at Rockwood Manor. Breakfast included and was absolutely delicious with an assortment of foods both mornings. Don’t hesitate to contact Frank for a reservation booking here. We were very comfortable in our stay here. We would definitely stay in the future if return to the Blacksburg area. Our room was very large, quiet with very comfortable bed. We had very quiet and peaceful sleep here.

We just got back home from a very enjoyable three night stay at Rockwood Manor. We had a great time and would highly recommend this wonderful B&B in Dublin, Virginia. The home is magnificent. Built in 1875, it has been upgraded to include all modern conveniences, but still maintains its unique historic character and charm, and some amazing architectural features. We stayed in the Porterfield Suite, and found it very comfortable. We also enjoyed sitting on the front porch or in the parlor reading books, or playing pool in the game room. And the morning breakfasts were great, including pancakes and sausage the first morning, an egg and grits casserole the second morning, and egg casserole and bacon on our departure day. Finally, our hosts, the Drummond family, were most welcoming and accommodating and made us feel right at home and part of the family. And there’s a lot to do in the area. We stayed very busy visiting Clayter Lake State Park, Virginia Tech, Lookout Mountain, the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theater, and more. If you’re looking for an enjoyable multi day stay at an historic B&B in southwest Virginia, look no farther. You’ve found it at Rockwood Manor. We are already planning our next visit.

Excellent accomodations! The owners have done a tremendous job restoring the property - the rooms are comfortable while keeping the charm of yesteryear. The breakfasts were incredible - The grounds are beautiful with gorgeous, well maintained landscaping and a few friendly farm critters (horses and a donkey). I highly recommend Rockwood for your stay if you're in the area.

I have never felt so much at home, while road tripping across the country, as I did during my stay at Rockwood Manor. I turned off the main road and started up the long, paved driveway. The house is not visible from the entrance. As I reached a slight crest in the driveway, I stopped to soak in the beauty of the majestic house now in my sight. Inside and out, this beautiful historic home sits in a peaceful setting. The house was clean, and even with other guests in the house, it was quiet. I stayed in the only bedroom on the first floor. There was a door onto the sun porch and one into the library from my room. As Frank suggested, I opened both doors in the morning and the flow-through breeze was fabulous. The breakfast each of my four mornings, was hot and fresh. It could be enjoyed on the sun porch or the formal dining room. The front porch is perfect for sittin’ and sippin’ morning coffee. Or to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening while watching the bunnies have a late snack in the well manicured lawn. Frank is a walking history book. Try to spend some time with him. You won’t regret it. Frank emails clear directions to the house and how to check-in. I also like the fact that booking is direct with the owner and not through a third party, thus saving high priced extra fees.

Our weekend at this grand manor was exquisite. Frank shared many historic stories about the New River Valley and shared books about my heroine Mary Draper Ingles. Breakfast was delicious, served in an elegant dining room, with many antiques and a beautiful view. The well kept grounds, and the rocking chairs on the porch, allow one a respite from hectic life. We stayed in the lovely Blakemore Room. I highly recommend this special treasure of bygone days.

My husband & I wanted an extended anniversary weekend getaway . Friends of ours recommended Rockwood Manor and we were so glad they did. From the moment we arrived, Frank & Rochelle were more than accommodating. Our suite was prepared perfectly providing us a comfortable, relaxing stay. Breakfast hit the spot each morning. We enjoyed hearing the stories about the manor and surrounding areas. So much history. It's obvious you put your heart and soul into everything grand and small. Looking forward to another stay in the future. Thanks again to the innkeepers for all of the personal touches. So glad that we got to know you. We highly recommend RM!
