We arrived after a very looong day packing up my Mom’s place to move her and just wanted to rest. However, there was this nasty spot on the sheet of one of the beds when we arrived (see pic). What astonishes me is that the beds were turned down and the staff person that did so didn’t see that nasty spot on the sheet ?!?! OR WORSE - chose to ignore it and didn’t care to fix the bed with clean sheets?!?!
We went to the front desk and got sheets and made the bed over ourselves.

The refrigerator in the room was useless as well. It was running but NOT cool!

The 3rd floor ice machine was broken so we had to go down to the 1st floor for ice (which I needed because my broken ankle was swollen from the day).

The surfaces had spots all over them so we used antibacterial wipes to clean them ourselves.

Our reservation stated 3 people but we only had one washcloth and one hand towel.

We were hoping we could wake and refuel for another day of packing by having breakfast at the hotel but we’re disappointed to discover that was scaled back (probably due to the pandemic). We also questioned how fresh the offerings were so we did not eat there. SIGH.

The room was clean, except the satin over lays on the bed were stained, which I always remove immediately anyway. The walls were all chipped, it looked like they were prepping to paint but had started months ago and stopped. There were 2 towels in our room for the 4 of us, when I asked for two more the desk clerk pointed to a pool towel on the counter and stated that was her last clean towel. The elevator broke while we were there and did start working again, but had a blinking “not communicating “ button going. It also was very loud outside late at night on the back side of the hotel and we were on the 4th floor. We were there for a college open house visit and there was a sporting event going on, so the price was much higher than this place was worth. I would not stay here again.

I stayed at the Wingate hotel last night. When I checked in they informed me that I had to stay on the second floor because I had a dog with me. When I got to my room I quickly noticed that there was a small child crying in the next room. After one hour of this I went down to the front desk to ask for a different room. They told me that there was a family with 5 kids next to me. It was very noisy and the room was not very clean. They moved me to the 3rd floor which was quieter and cleaner. The one thing that I noticed was the road noise. It was terrible. Even with the fan on high I couldn’t sleep. At 2 o’clock in the morning my fire alarm sounded. I quickly dressed and I left my room with my dog. My neighbour’s alarm also sounded in his room. The young lady at the front desk told me that 2 rooms below me also sounded. The fire department showed up to reset the alarm and check to make sure there was no fire. Needless to say I was awake so I checked out of the hotel at 2:30 am. So in conclusion, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again because of its proximity to the highway. It was just too loud.

I’ve attached photos for your reference.

Overall this hotel is filthy. Particularly noticed and noted in the lobby (pillows literally have stayed in disarray during our stay, which only tells me that no one cleans there). The syrup dispenser in lobby was covered in ants. The customer laundry area was covered with trash and no working lights. (This is EXTREMELY UNSAFE). The only working elevator was very dirty and smelled like burnt rubber. The walkway and hallway had scattered trash on the floor. The ice machine area on first floor was very dirty. We requested for housekeeping to service our room while away at work; this never was done. We had to ask for fresh towels, toilet paper and trash bags. We had a 5 night stay. When we asked for fresh towels, the manager on duty on the evening of 7/28 was pretty rude. She said that we would need to turn in our old towels in order to get new ones. (We had placed them in the hallway that morning because they were dirty)

We are not here on leisure, but for business. After working long days and having to come back to filth and fear for our safety is not acceptable.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The young female front desk was extremely nice and that is the ONLY positive about our experience. 7/21/24 – my mother booked her reservation through hotels.com upon arriving, they did not ‘have it’ and was even shown the confirmation number – we were recharged and for $12 more – which whatever but, it just steadily went downhill from there. This hotel is just plain disgusting and nasty. The elevator we excused bc we assumed it was high trafficked. The doors opened to our floor and our mouths dropped, honestly we thought it was blood on the walls but we quickly realized it wasn’t but it was everywhere, whatever ‘it’ was.. the smell of weed throughout the entire hotel is insanely overpowering. We did not feel safe, hard to explain but you know that feeling and even our doordasher said she didn’t feel comfortable here so if you’re a female or traveling alone, I just would advise not to stay here on that point alone however that’s up to you -- We got to our room to find the following pictures. The sink and toilets were stopped up, the shower had not been cleaned, the bed sheets were disgusting (dried blood, and bodily fluids, hair, etc - see pics) stains on the walls, curtains, floors, etc. The ice bucket was even dirty! My mother went to get ice to find the entire room covered in water. We finally decided to stay bc it was only one night and didn’t need another (3rd charge) pending on our account. We tried to clean up but there was only one towel. Called downstairs for more towels and another pillow and she advised housekeeping locks the closet and she cannot get any towels, pillows, different sheets, etc. (not her fault and she apologized profusely) We could not sleep the entire night. So, we couldn’t shower, we couldn’t use the restroom barely, the air barely worked, the room smelt and was muggy. There was banging and people in and out of rooms all night. The room itself had potential to be nice but it’s obvious that it’s not taken care of – just don’t stay here. It’s not worth it. The pictures don’t even do it justice of how bad it is to be honest.

We were scheduled to stay here when our granddaughter moved into her apartment at Radford University. We had 2 rooms at the hotel. After 2 days we decided we had to leave and go to another hotel because: the common areas were grimy looking and there were uncovered electric wire boxes on the hallway walls and hanging from the ceiling; the hallways and elevator always needed vacuuming; when we requested sheets for the pullout bed, they were left on the dirty hallway floor outside the door to the room, and the same for extra towels that we requested; one room had 2 tvs with 1 remote, we were told that all rooms only have 1 remote; the lighting in the suite room was very poor; one of our rooms had a bad odor that smelled like formaldehyde; the door to that same room did not close properly and the water pressure was poor; the shelves in the lobby where one would expect to see snack items were totally empty, even though the hotel had been open for 2 years; breakfast items were sparse and there was only one attendant who also was covering the front desk; we had to request milk for our cereal, and when the person brought milk out, she put it in the cooler but then did not move so that it was accessible; when cereal was added to the dispenser, it spilled all over the counter and on the floor, but the employee did not do anything to clean the floor so that it wouldn't be a slip/fall hazard; the ceiling in the dining area started streaming water from a light fixture during the breakfast hour, the staff did not notice until one of us pointed it out to them, and we later learned that it was from a toilet overflowing in the room above the dining area; staff was often smoking just outside the main entrance to the hotel and we had to walk through the smoke to enter the building (they didn't move as we approached); staff was sprawled on couches in the lobby area when we returned to the hotel one night and no one was at the front desk. To top it off, unknown to us, our credit card had been charged for a 4 night stay when we checked in, and when we checked out 2 days early because of the above, we were refused a refund of the remaining 2 nights by a sour-puss front desk clerk because "our policy is not to refund." We were unsuccessful in trying to resolve this directly with the hotel as management didn't return a phone call, so we then contacted Wyndham Customer Care and they told me the situation was resolved because they put 7500 points on our Wyndham Rewards account. Who wants the points when the hotel was so bad and the response that we received was so poor that we'll never stay in a Wyndham brand hotel ever again! We want a refund.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was dirty. Mold in the shower, thick layer of dust, and trash in the drawer from the guests before us. They gave us one wash cloth and 3 towels for four people. When we asked for more we were expected to bring the used ones down to the front desk. We put them out in the hall and they were not picked up. We chose this hotel for the indoor pool. After getting swimsuits on my 3 and 5 year old grandkids we got to the pool and it was not heated. When we inquired we were told "we don't advertise a heated pool." I was unaware I had to ask, I have never stayed at a hotel that did not have a heated indoor pool. At breakfast there were bagels and no toaster. When someone asked about a toaster they were told "someone broke it a while back and we haven't replaced it." How much does it cost to replace a toaster? The hotel is understaffed and it shows. I have stayed at Wyndham Hotels before and never had this experience. Very disappointed 😞 n this experience.

The hotel was fine. Although they never put the right amount of towels for the number of people that are actually staying. The hotel was in the middle of a renovation so the carpets were not fully installed and their walls were all patched up and looked like the hallways walls were unfinished, scuff marks and missing plaster everywhere. My issue was with reservations using ORBITZ/EXPEDIA. I recommend people ONLY reserve via the Hotel's website, because Wyndham hotels will never make changes to the reservation made through third party and you will end up paying the full amount - regardless of the changes you may have made with the booking agents.

Only 1 of 2 elevators working. No sound proofing--sounded like highway in room all night. Bathroom door handle came off in hand. No housekeeping service. No poster in the room showing the location of emergency exits and posting the required sections of the Virginia code. Food crumbs on carpet. No manager to take a complaint. The kitchen for the breakfast area was in disarray – a violation of food safety practices that deserve an inspection by the health department. Clock in the bedroom gained three hours each night and was useless.

We had a nice room, but the joining rooms were noisy. It seems they put all the guest in the same area because of the pandemic. Which you would of thought they would separate the guests. It also appeared there were workers using this hotel and traveling guest were in the same wing as the workers. I understand the need to help out the cleaning staff, but people that are staying there because of their job usually get up earlier then those just traveling. The room doors slammed all the time and the one joining room left their TV on all night.
