Great stay. Room cleanliness was impeccable. Check in was easy. Workout equipment was fine and the exercise room was very clean and organized. Luckily I stayed in the area for a bit after checkout. They called to let me know that I had left my computer tablet behind and that they would hold it for me at the front desk. THIS is exactly why you should never underestimate folks in the service industry. Glad they hire such honest, hardworking people. Another excellent reason for leaving your house workers a gratuity. They deserve the recognition.

This appears to be a new hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean. However, the air conditioner looks like one of those you see in older hotels, and it is _very_noisy if you decide to cool the air. It will keep most people from getting a good nights sleep. This is odd because the toilet is one of the quiet ones. They went to a lot of trouble to add a lot of USB chargers to the room and some things are well thought out. Another odd thing is that the window curtain does not block much light. If you want to sleep late, the sun might wake you up. It is possible nowadays to buy a very quiet air conditioner. It is baffling to me that they installed noisy ones. If it is not a hot day, maybe you won't need cooling. In that case, I would recommend it.

We appreciate you choosing the new TRU by Hilton (Radford) and I regret that you experienced a problem with our property. We work diligently to ensure a wonderful stay for all of our guests. We do have a technician from the air conditioning manufacturing company working to solve the noise issue and apologize for the inconvenience. Additionally, we do have a second set of blinds installed that are room darkening. We hope you will visit us again when your travels bring you to southwest Virginia.

Hunter and the entire staff made my stay there so enjoyable. They were so wonderful as I travelled down for work every week for 4 months. From the morning crew, especially the woman who kept the breakfast bar in top condition to the night manager, who offered to set aside breakfast for me if I had an early start time, to the day managers that made sure I had what I needed in my room, they were all exceptional. The rooms are clean, I appreciated this during the Covid surge when I first started coming. Thanks for making me feel welcome and safe each week.

This is the first time we stayed at TRU, and we will surely return. The lobby layout is open, modern, and refreshing with a bit of recreation amenities and areas for small groups to gather. Food area is arranged nicely and even during the pandemic limitations, it was fully satisfactory. Our room was scrupulously clean; we appreciated the composite flooring rather than carpeting; easy to keep clean. Bathroom was modern and everything there functioned well. Breakfast options were quite sufficient even considering the health restrictions. We were impressed overall.

Maybe Tru just gets the dregs of the Hilton brand’s employees? Front desk Employee was lounging in the lobby when I arrived. She took her sweet time making her way over to the front desk. Sorry that doing your job is part of your job....
The toilet in my room had been recently used and not flushed... it’s hard to trust your room has been properly cleaned (given covid) when the toilet is clearly dirty... also there was a dead fly on the windowsill.

Great hotel that is a little off the beaten path. Lots of easy parking. Only complaint is the refillable soap containers in the shower always seem to be empty. I have stayed here twice. Same problem both times. Check before you get in the shower

Love, love all the wall hooks! And the eco-friendly wall dispensed soaps and lotions, shelf below TV w/USB ports, shelf below bathroom mirror. No bulky furniture but well-appointed, comfortable rooms. Simple, decorative window shades.

I booked this hotel because I needed a last minute stop and it had roll in shower rooms listed available. A roll in shower per ADA must have a bench. If not available shower stools must be available. When I arrived I found out the hotel had no showers with seats per the front desk. I was put in a room that was “accessible”— a handicap closet bar blocked by the bed that couldn’t be reached by an able bodied individual, and no safe way to sit in a shower. I was advised to “go to Walmart” and eventually given a lobby stool to shower with (slick and turquoise with no handles). I know at many hotels these rooms can be full, but that was not the case— the hotel failed to actually add accessible rooms as required by ADA. As a frequent Hilton brands lodger and diamond member, I am accustomed to a higher standard than “drive to Walmart” for something the hotel is legally required to have— and that was listed as available when I booked at checkin.

Hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Lobby games were available; pool has to be checked out so it’s cleaned between guests. Our AC was loud and we didn’t have hot water in the morning, but the staff was receptive when we told them. Breakfast was good, but there are no hot eggs or meat.

Thank you for choosing Tru by Hilton (Radford) for your stay and for taking the time to provide feedback on our property. We are tweaking the HVAC system to fix the AC noise and the water problem was one of those 'out of the blue' flukes, but it has been fixed. As Covid-19 restrictions have lifted, we are now providing hot eggs and sausage as a breakfast option. Thank you, again, and we hope you will stay again when your travels bring you to our area.

I traveled through this area with my husband and Emotional Support Animal, a small Poodle mix dog and chose this hotel for our 1 night stay while passing through. I wanted to try a Tru by Hilton hotel. We’ve stay at many Hiltons from time to time as we travel on cross country road trips and they are generally good. Not this one though. I’m not a fan of this hotel. At check in after driving over 12 hours the front desk clerk was very condescending about me having an ESA, stating her boss told her it was “just” an ESA. As in an Emotional Support Animal is not an important service animal. I have severe PTSD and my ESA is very important to me. He makes it so I can travel. Most hotels consider an ESA a service animal and do not charge me. Not only did this hotel charge me a “pet” fee, which was irritating and made the cost of our 1 night (literally less than 10 hour stay) there more than 50% more expensive, they made me feel like crap about it all. So no I would not return. The room was also the smallest I’ve ever stayed in, if I hadn’t been driving so long I would have gone to another hotel. This hotel looks new but the toilet was slightly wobbly and the floor didn’t look washed. The bedding was thankfully clean. But the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Overall the worst hotel experience I have had at a Hilton branded hotel. And one of the worst ever. We checked out before 4am after arriving around 6pm the night before.

Thank would like to thank you for your feedback as this helps us know the issues we need to look at when training new staff etc. On the particular night that you traveled through we had an employee from one of our sister properties covering the desk for us, I apologize if she seemed to handle the situation in a non-professional manor. Unfortunately, under ADA emotional support animals are not recognized as service animals. ( While Emotional Support Animals or Comfort Animals are often used as part of a medical treatment plan as therapy animals, they are not considered service animals under the ADA. These support animals provide companionship, relieve loneliness, and sometimes help with depression, anxiety, and certain phobias, but do not have special training to perform tasks that assist people with disabilities. Even though some states have laws defining therapy animals, these animals are not limited to working with people with disabilities and therefore are not covered by federal laws protecting the use of service animals. Therapy animals provide people with therapeutic contact, usually in a clinical setting, to improve their physical, social, emotional, and/or cognitive functioning.) We charge the standard pet fee that has been set as a Hilton standard so that it is consistent across all brands and properties. Tru hotels were designed as smaller more compact hotels, meaning the rooms are smaller. Thank you for choosing to stay with us.
