Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
For $250 a night I feel like I was gouged but the hotel was all booked up so that tells you something about the availability of hotel rooms around Virginia Tech. It was the type of place you would normally feel ok about paying under $79 a night. My room had not been updated since the 70's and that includes the furniture and bathroom. The worn out couch looked like something you might see in a frat house complete with the small rips and tears. Maybe they were just very old linens but I have my doubts that they were fresh or changed prior to my stay. The free "Breakfast" was packages muffins and some bananas. There is no elevator so be careful as you have to walk up steps to get to the second floor. One thing I will say is that the lady that worked there was very nice and a hard worker.

I have stayed at this Super 8 at least 3 times in the past 20 years. It has remained consistently average. The decor is slightly dated, the breakfast offerings are mediocre at best, and the price is appropriate for the accommodations. On the plus side, the wireless connection was strong, and the location is great.

This hotel is about a Super 6. While clean, the blankets had holes in them. The sheets paper thin and only a sweet roll for the am. This property needs to invest in their accouterments for their guests.
Their Restaurant had been closed by the City Health Department for sanitation reasons. Not Good.

All of the pictures of the rooms and lobby on the website must be extremely OLD! The lobby couches are torn and dilapidated. The room my family and I were in was gross! The shower was clogged, the tv didn't work, and we had to sign a strict no smoking paper but the room smelled like a whole pack of cigarettes! The appearance made me immediately check the mattress and I am happy to say there were no bugs at least! I wouldn't recommend this motel to anyone...unless you like feeling gross in a skeezy joint! Also, it said continental breakfast included but upon check-in, I was informed it is just muffins and coffee from a vending machine. There was riff raff making noise all night so I clearly know what type of place this is. ICKKKKKK.

This is a great place to stay for the money. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The location is great--just a few minutes from I-81 and five minutes from the town of Blacksburg. Next to a shopping center and many resataurants are close by. The rooms are clean and include a small refridgerator, microwave, and cable TV. The internet can be a liitle slow at times.

Walked into a musty smelly room. Turned on AC unit which ran all night & struggled to get to set temperature (never made it). The window has wet mold sitting in the sill (didn't see until morning). Bedding top has "spots/stains" on it. Wall lights were tilted and had different light bulbs. Bathroom walls were gross & icky to the touch. There were "boogers" on the walls in different places & something on the light switch. If you must stay here, bring your own pillows as the 3 that are provided are needed to equal 1 small pillow. They literally have no support at all. This hotel needs major renovations/cleaning/attention. If I didn't arrive so late and could get my money back when canceling I would have. *see pictures*

Absolutely GROSS! Me and my family have been to some motels that were iffy but this was gross. The room reeked of cheap perfume and smoke. The toilet was actively leaking onto the floor, the freezer had brown filthy gunk in it, the sheets had burn holes and the pillows had stains. The chairs were dirty and tore up. Hands down worse hotel we’ve ever been too. Pool was closed and its only August 14th, as you walk by other rooms fumes leak out and its seriously gross. The AC unit didn’t even have vents and there was trash left in the room! We had booked through booking.com with a no refund contingency but after showing pictures and expressing concern the manager was willing to refund without a fight which was a surprising relief but i highly suggest going somewhere else!

Overall, good price and great location. Easy access to the highway. The room had a little bit of a smoker's smell, and perhaps there should have been some fresheners placed on the room. I figure the cleaning staff would have noticed it when they change the sheets. Other than the smell, everything else was fine.

The was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in! NO exaggeration! We had a Non-smoking room but the whole hotel smells like stale smoke. The towels, sheets, and even the HVAC unit smelled like smoke. We even decided to put the clothes we weren't wearing in our car so they wouldn't smell. When I complained to the front desk, she just gave me a can of air freshener! DO NOT STAY HERE unless you are a smoker, it's horrible. and it's expensive- especially during events at the university, UGH!!!

The hotel reeks of cigarettes! I wouldn't recommend it if you are a non-smoker, have asthma or breathing issues, etc. The have what they consider non-smoking rooms but even those were bad. I had to leave after an hour of bring there due to an asthma flare up and was still charged for 1 night out of my 2 night reservation.
