I'd arrived much later than I had expected (around close to midnight) and the night staff was so friendly in checking me in. I had a ground floor room and was able to park basically right in front of the door. The beds were comfortable and the vanity area was larger than some other higher-end hotels. I grabbed breakfast in the morning, and as a vegan, I found several options I could eat! I filled up my personal coffee tumbler, but couldn't find it when I got in the car to leave, so I headed to the front desk and they had saved it for me, saying they hoped someone would come back for it!

This hotel was a great place to stop for one night on our way to Florida. The room was basic but clean and quiet for a good night’s sleep. We easily walked to Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner and grabbed coffee and muffins in the morning for breakfast.

Perfect for the price! Our only complaint was that there was a stink bug in our room that we had to take care of, but other than that it was clean, quiet, and a fair price. We even went during Mil Ball weekend and it was still relatively quiet and inexpensive. Breakfast was decent and it’s exactly what I expected from a motel chain :)

We endeavor to go above and beyond one can expect for a budget friendly hotel, as we want to ensure our guests have a memorable experience when travelling into the Christiansburg/Blacksburg Virginia area. As you know our hotel is highly recommended from many of our guests as they feel that we are the best value one can get in this area. Every one wants and deserves the Clean, Affordable, and Cozy accommodations that we offer here at the Econo Lodge. We are very lucky to be so close to so many restaurants, the Christiansburg Aquatic Center that is only 3 miles away, and the hotel is also close to one of the best colleges, Virginia Tech. Virginia Tech is only 6 miles away from the hotel. I paid in total over $200 for this barely $20 motel because it was student move in week at Virginia Tech.
First, when I arrived there was no one at the desk to check me in, just a sign saying to wait. I called the hotel number and it rang until it hung up. 10-15 minutes later, a guy finally showed up. He was nice and got me squared away but made no mention of my wait.
The room was dingy with beat up paint and not even a cover over the fluorescent bulb above the sink. The sink barely drained. The beds were uncomfortable and rutted, suggesting their extreme age. 4 pillows stacked gave the neck support of one decent pillow.
Finally, walls, doors and ceilings were merely ornamental. Alarms, conversations and TVs from other rooms, as well as stomping around from above, were as loud as if in my own room.
This place stresses the econo part of econo lodge in every aspect but price.

We value your feedback and the time you've taken to share. It was a busy week with colleges students moving back in, when you had stayed here at the budget friendly Econo Lodge our staff wear many hats and had many guests inquiring for assistance with extra towels, toiletries, pillows, etc. as the hotel has been sold out or near sold out every night for two weeks. We are thrilled to know that our front desk was friendly and nice as our staff have excellent customer service skills and many guests definitely appreciate friendly desk clerks when checking into a hotel. Guest feedback is our foremost catalyst for effective change, so rest assured that we will use yours to guide our efforts. We would be honored to have another chance to serve you and change your perceptions. We want you to know also that we have many plans for updates to the guests rooms in the future. Our rates was much lower than our main competitors, it is our peak season so our rates are much higher during the fall from August through November, we hope that you will give us a second chance to provide you with a much better experience on your next stay when traveling or coming to the Blacksburg area if you are needing an affordable rate. We want you to know also whether you are staying here with us or at a different location that you can always ask the front desk after checking in to switch rooms if you are unsatisfied with the room you was assigned to, as we care about our guests experiences and want our guest to fell appreciated and have a nice stay here at the budget friendly Econo Lodge and this is why we have won the 2021 and 2022 Gold Award from Choice Hotels. I was trying to make reservations at this hotel, and had some details that weren't covered by online booking. I tried calling starting at 9:00 AM on 8/1/2022 and stopped trying at 2:00 PM. No one ever picked up the phone, no matter how long I let it ring. I gave up and booked with a competitor.

Overall the room was fairly clean. The seal around the sink was orange and needs to be redone. The microwave and refrigerator needs to be cleaned inside. Linens were clean and there were no signs of bugs. Breakfast was wrapped baked goods and other grab and go. Hotel was fine for one night.

Very friendly staff. Tidy well laid out room 211 with a king bed, sofa, TV, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. Hot shower and large soft bath towels. Very little road noise at the back of the hotel. Some pastries, ceral, juice, and coffee for a quick breakfast bite.

This is probably my best stay and easiest review. Excellence!
From the arrival to the departure. There's nothing but excellence. The beds the room the water pressure, all were excellent! There also were free water bottles in the rooms.

Have been regulars here for 15 years. Unfortunately the rooms are getting pretty beat. Office was unattended when we arrived. Had to wait about 20 minutes for someone after 12 hours on the road. We were just about ready to go somewhere else. Room key problems.

I stayed here with my wife and kids on my way back to NY from FLA. Staff was really nice and the room was clean. Also it was only $58 for all 4 of us. It’s also very close to so many good restaurants. I was pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

We have only some pet friendly rooms that we allowed pets in that rooms. Not all our rooms are pet friendly.
The best answer to your question is "It depends." Specifically, the Econolodge FAQ URL states, "Cancellation policies vary based on your reservation and/or rate. You can review this information on your check-out page, before confirming your reservation. If you’re not sure if you booked at a cancellable rate, please call 877-424-6423 for assistance."
Sometimes you'll get a better room rate by paying at the time of the reservation, but this means you won't get your money back if you don't show up.
On some dates of peak activity (like game day for Virginia Tech), it's possible you won't be able to cancel.
When I went to the URL for reservations for this motel, I saw several choices for reservations with an explicit, "Free cancellation" statement. When you make a reservation for a specific date at a specific price, you'll have to check the cancellation policy before you hit the [Purchase] Button.
Yes they do have a continental breakfast in the Lobby (buffet style) although we did not eat at the hotel as we had to meet people in Blacksburg for breakfast)
