Detailed Reviews
Stayed here on a 5 night business trip. Not my first choice and I was resistant to it due to the negative reviews on yelp and here. But, my gov't organization to forced me to stay here. Anyways. I reserved a Temporary Lodge Facility (TLF) vice the Visitor Quarter (VQ) which I read was real bad. The TLF resembled a college dorm. Room was okay in general. it was clean enough. Upon entering, the room was quite musty. I even tried opening the windows and they were jammed so I had to turn on the air con. The furniture looked very tired and old. They definitely had seen better days. Bed looked comfortable though the mattress was sagging quite a bit. The only reason why I slept soundly was because I was totally exhausted. Stove was very small and I didn't use though it did smell of natural gas for some reason. Not pleasant. Refrigerator standard size. Bathroom (toilet and shower) was absolutely TINY ! To define tiny; think of European and Asian hotel room bathrooms and downsize it again by one half; that small. I couldn't even close the door without stepping into the bathtub. The bathroom door would just miss the edge of the toilet. The only positive part of the bathroom was that the shower pressure and temperature were great. Aside from those; the biggest gripe I had was the Wifi. The wifi was free but extremely slow. My phone app recorded 0.59 Mbps. Oh and I could hear people talking and kids crying a floor beneath me. Zero soundproofing. I will have to agree with the previous reviewer (obankestrel) that Mountain View Inn is worst than an embarrassment. The room absolutely sucked. On the positive note; staff were professional but they refused a late checkout. Come on now. How hard is it to give me just 30 minutes.
I filled out a comment card, at checkout, to express some of my dissatisfaction with my stay. Will the base commander read it? Probably not, and it will likely get thrown away at the end of the day. Would I stay here again? Until they renovate their rooms to rival that of Marriott or Hilton among others; not in a million years. The area around Hill AFB is very beautiful though. They even have their own trail across the street around a duck pond.

Being retired military, we enjoy staying in on-base quarters while traveling around the country. In all cases to date, they have been great - The Mountain View Inn, however, was worse than an embarrassment.
Before continuing, let me say the front office staff was wonderful - gracious, helpful, and very professional. And EXTREMELY embarrassed when told of the problems we encountered.
On arrival, everything appeared to be fine. A bit old, but fine. Although I'm not fond of the "converted suites" it appeared to be clean and well maintained. When we went out the rear entrance to get our luggage, the picture changed. Immediately outside is a large Picnic/BBQ covered patio. Filthy. Old paper plates, plastic cartons, overflowing garbage cans, plastic utensils on the ground, a dirty busted BBQ chained to a post, and even an old broken traffic cone (most of the old food had been scavenged by local critters). REAL CLASS.... Oh, did I forget to mention overflowing butt-kits? And between 300-500 old butts (maybe more), some soggy, some bleached out, some old, some new - all over the place. Disgusting...! How does this happen on an active military base?
Back to the room. Quite clean until we opened the shower curtain. The shower head was literally encased in black mold. There was mold and crud all around the bottom of the shower. Broken grout, dirt, etc.... Excuse me, has anyone been inspecting these rooms???
Now the rest of the story. There was an empty dumpster about 60 feet from the filthy patio. After notifying the staff of the problem, the overflowing trash cans were emptied within an hour. Nice work, except they didn't bother to pick up the garbage on the ground.
I weep....

Staying there I'm covered in bed bug bites. It's the worst military lodging on the planet. old furniture and dirty. Some of the housekeeping is rude. Manager is detached from any kind of customer service skills.. Avoid!!!!

Normally when we travel to Hill AFB we try to stay at the Holiday Inn and Layton but unfortunately on our most recent TDY we did not get the golden ticket (aka non-availability). The Mountain Inn isn’t that bad. It’s clean and the furniture appears to be pretty new. The showers and sinks and all of that appear
to be original. The rooms are all 2 rooms connected by a bathroom. They’ve turned on side into a sitting room with a tv and the other side is what looks like a normal hotel room. Personally I didn’t use the sitting room. There is no elevator so get ready to carry your luggage upstairs (unless you get a 1st floor room). The main benefit of staying here is that you don’t have to deal with the lines at the gate to get on base in the morning. Otherwise if you can stay in Layton and enjoy the continental breakfast and all the luxuries of a normal hotel!

We use to come & stay here all the time but won’t use again unless they renovate! All other bases have very nice updated or new facilities. We were moved out of first room due to others coming in - rooms were never totally full and we had a broken oven! Went to moved location thought originally not bad ( although no kitchen) but had no control of heat - freezing at night! Complained were given extra blankets, someone came next day adjusted but was only good for that night! We are very sad to see how it has gone down hill - it was a place we always looked forward to using when we came out here to ski.

I stayed here a few summers back and the AC was broken in the entire building. The 98+ nights made it impossible to sleep. Fast forward and now you can’t control the heat in the building. The only relief from again 90+ degree temps in the room is to open all the windows and pump in 30 degree winter air. SMH

Staff was nice. We stayed inn the family extended stay with a couple of bedrooms on two floors. Kitchen living room and all the amenities one might need when staying for more than a few days. Parking right outside on the street, quiet and no problems whatsoever. They are older converted but it is military and the price is right. I think if s had to pay full price it was 57 or 67 per night. And of course you get the workout facility and indoor pool on the base so let's nice. I have no idea how the normal hotel rooms are there and we did not use any of the exterior amenities. We did however utilize a storage space for our camper which was like eight bucks a month. Awesome deal easy to access.
