Run down. Staff rude. Food is either cold or not worth eating. Drinks machines either empty or cold coffee. The pool is absolutely freezing. Rooms were mediocre but doable as we only slept there. Spent every day out as more to do and food better outside. Only plus side were the entertainment reps trying so hard to make sure all had fun.

We stayed in Salou Villamarina club & Aquopolis water park 11/08/2022. We feel the hotel was wrongly described by the Jet2 website. The room we stayed in was very small with the basin in the bedroom which leaves no privacy, but this does shows in the pictures. There is no basin the bathroom because it’s so small. But the problem being the room is so small with no storage and the bathroom is tiny barely any room to stand. Not suitable for three people and barely suitable for two. The next problem we found was with the rooftop terrace for adults only, this was only open from 12 till 4pm when it was open. This was supposed to be open every night and every day which it wasn’t. This was a problem for us as we couldn’t then have any peace, as it was quite busy in the hotel, we did have a child but she wasn’t with us for most of the time she was meeting other children. Because this wasn’t open there was no staff there which meant children was coming up to the rooftop terrace and playing in the hot tub as there was only one working for the whole week we was there The queues in the evening for the bar was extremely long due to staff shortages and to many people. On the Jet2 website it says hotel & waterpark but in the small print of the advert this water park is nearly 7 km away. We found this out after we booked and the only real way to get to the park is a taxi which was €15 each way. This wasn’t explained in the small print either as no bus is provided. The swimming pools are small and at the front of the hotel yards from the pavement on a busy road, so not safe for young children as anyone can walk in with no security or gates. People seem to be able to leave their towels to reserve the Sun lounges all day without them being removed My feelings on this hotel is a Pontins holiday park in the 70s-80s We did complain to the Jet2 representative at the hotel at the time also asking to move hotels and was told to make an official complaint when we got back as many people was complaining at the time. I have contacted Jet2 by email when we got back and explained our problem but unfortunately after months of waiting for them to get back to me, they said they was looking into it, but they have just brushed this off which is a shame because we have used Jet2 few times and always had good experiences Read less

Stayed here for four nights and loved every minute. Was sceptical given the negative reviews. Small hotel and although dated decor it was quite nice and homely. Reception. Very pleasant and helpful. Organised taxis etc for us. Brilliant service and always smiling. Rooms. We stayed in a family superior room with balcony. 2 adults and children aged 16 and 11. No issues. Big bathroom also. Rooms cleaned every day and made up. No issues. Bar. All local drinks. Cocktails also. Very nice indeed. Staff were amazing. Very helpful and pleasant. Restaurant. Food was nice and plentiful. Could make a sandwich at breakfast for the park in the mornings. Staff didn't mind at all. Again Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Food was different every night. Pool area. Was clean and bar was open to 5pm. Burgers, chicken etc and chips and again local beer. Staff were lovely. Don't read negative comments. Hotel is great. Simon was a brilliant entertainer and his bingo and craic was great. He is Mr Villamarina I thought. Queen act was brilliant to. I would deffo stay here again. Thank you so much Villamarina.

We stayed here from 24-31st October 2022. Our first impressions of the hotel were excellent. We explored the hotel on arrival and there were many positives. These were as follows. Rooftop area for adults with a jacuzzi. Nice views. Sadly bar not open, which we knew, however you could take your beers and drinks up there. Food. An excellent variety each lunch and evening. Compliments to the chef. Ranges included BBQ chicken wings, pizza, paella, pork, beef, chicken nuggets, lemon chicken, chips, a lovely array of salad. The deserts were a bit repetitive, however lovely cakes, profiteroles, yoghurt, fruit and 5/6 different ice creams. Drinks. Cocktails were good and a choice of beer/wine etc. Only thing I'd say is that you couldn't get drunk unless you had a lot. I mean around 14/16! Not a bad thing as no hangovers, but they were not premium spirits. The pool bar served crips, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, chicken nuggets, chips and beer until 5pm. However it was closed on 28th/29th and 30th which was disappointing. Staff all really polite and courteous. Entertainment. Some great acts such as Queen tribute, Mongolian acrobats were superb, Overtones good. A magician came one night 30 minutes late and did 3 tricks, 2 of which were obvious. Karaoke on 2 nights a good laugh. The reason I didn't rate it a 5 was the fact on 28/29th October the hotel went flat. Why? Again no pool bar open and NO SIMON! This guy is the reason this hotel thrives in my opinion. I don't get involved in activities normally and didn't much on this holiday, but this guys infectious personality radiates around the place. When he was off Thursday night, Friday and Saturday, the hotel wasn't the same. Although Paula was really good when Simon was off, however the support she had from some other girls wasn't the best. Simon was a pleasure to watch. Always gave 100%, bounced around like tigger and I found it an honour to sing at hs last night at the hotel and to thank him for ensuring i didn't fall off the stage singing dizzee rascal! He said he may not be there next year and if that's the case, he's a Very hard act to follow. Without him, the hotel would have got a 3 maximum. Only though due to it was end of season at sadly the atmosphere was lacking Friday and Saturday. Thanks you though to all the staff who were lovely. Especially Simon and Paula.

The rooms are tiny, there were 9 of us and we had 4 rooms, all rooms had 3 single beds which were not needed making the rooms smaller than they needed to be. The bedding was dated but clean. The bathroom was tiny. Thats the end of the negatives. On the postitives the staff were great! Entertainment cheesy but great fun Great hotel for kids Not too big so felt confident about letting my 11 year old and 9 year old walk about by themselves as unlikely to get lost. Food was fantastic!! The chef even cooked halal food for us at request. The kids spent much time in the pool. As we had my elderly mother with us and we had late night flight they let us hold onto one room so my mum could rest until transport picked us up at 8pm although checkout was at 11am at no cost! I would go back again, great value for money!

I booked the hotel for a weeks stay for a group of family and friends, we arrived on day one and thought it looked run down and dated but decided to look past that. We checked in which went fine the woman on the desk was pleasant and welcoming. We got to our room and there was a very unpleasant odour smelled like a takeaway this smell was there for the week even with us opening the door and I think it got worse when I turned on the air conditioning. The bed felt damp, the wardrobe door was hard to open and the tap came off in my hand when I tried using it. The balcony was dirty there were cigarette ends on it. We went for lunch after getting there the food was cold and to be honest there wasn't the best selection. Over all the food choices for the week were just so so. Restaurant staff a couple were nice but others were not so much. Cocktails were awful, they had Cava which suited me and it was nice. But other drinks were poor enough. The staff in the bar mostly were so nice they were friendly and chatty and could have a laugh apart from one who was so rude and abrupt. Entertainment was hit and miss they do a quiz and bingo every night and then a live act would come on but only for an hour it was like they were only getting warmed up and they were finished. Simon that works in the entertainment department is brilliant he interacted well with the guests and made everyone fell like they were part of the crew. Unfortunately he can only do so much. On our first night we were sitting in the outdoor area chatting and singing and were told to stop singing at 11.50 we weren't singing loud. So we sat there finishing our drinks and chatting at 12.30 we were told we had to go back to our rooms I actually thought they were joking the security started pulling the tables away from us and getting aggressive in their approach we were all in shock at the carry on of them. 12.30 is the curfew for the hotel unless you go outside it but at that time of night most people just want to stay put and enjoy their night with the company they are with. I understand staff need a break and others in the hotel are sleeping but it's a holiday for everyone and been told to go to bed is a bit ridiculous why don't they let people sit indoors where it won't disturb other guests. On night 3 we went back to our room and a couple of family members came back because we paid extra for a bigger balcony and we were going to sit out on it and finish our drinks. Less than 10 mins later and the security guard was knocking on the door saying we couldn't have people in our room and they had to leave. At this point I was waiting for candid camera to jump out and say you've been had. We weren't out there that long and not long enough to disturb anyone but the next morning I got a warning letter in my door saying police and other guests and local residents were complaining, I would be the first to admit I was in the wrong but on this occasion I'm still in shock because the letter didn't correspond with us. I went to reception the next day and the woman was so rude and basically said you were loud and roudy and it's policy to issue warnings when I explained we weren't even talking loud she didn't want to know. The security followed people to their rooms most nights we spoke with other guests that had the same feelings as us. They also stood around the outdoor area from early in the evening which was very intimidating. Only for we were in a group myself and my husband would have found some where else to stay. It's the first time I've ever gone on a holiday and experienced anything like it. It was so bad I was counting the days until we left. I was never as happy to check out of a hotel as I was checking out of this one.

Returned yesterday after a short 4 night stay, purely for a bit of sun and some well needed rest. The reviews sounding off about mosquitoes, damp and the like, in my mind are completely unfounded. Maybe I dropped lucky, but it was fine. Yes, the building looks dated from the outside and the rooms too, but the place in my experience was clean. I went out running at 6.45am and found the pool area being cleaned and hosed. The pools had no grime in them, the place smelled of detergent (in a clean, nice way) at the time. The food hasn't made me ill, it was nice and cutlery clean. If anything there were a few clientele that made the experience not as nice, I guess that's the price bracket it attracts. Outside the place is flat and about a 10min walk to the beach (about 800m-1km away. I'd stay again for a short break. The entertainment was great and staff helpful. For the money, I couldn't fault it. £300 all inclusive for four nights including, flights, baggage and transfers. What do you want !! Pay for 5* if you want 5* it's that simple. If you like driving a Porsche, don't buy a Fiat 👍
