Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Hotel Salou Sunset by Pierre & Vacances is frequently commended for its convenient location, which is a stone's throw away from the beach, pubs, and restaurants, although navigating the incline to the hotel can be a challenge for some. The hotel's cleanliness, especially the daily serviced rooms and well-kept pool, receives positive remarks, despite occasional leaves found by the pool. While the amenities, including the modern rooms and inviting pool, are generally well-received, guests should note that offerings like the rooftop bar are seasonal. In terms of value, the hotel is considered budget-friendly, but the food quality and potential extra charges have raised some concerns. The service quality is inconsistent, with accolades for the hospitable staff often offset by the service lapses at the reception and during meals. Opinions on the hotel's atmosphere are divided; it's described as both lively, particularly around the pool, and lacking in character by different guests. The spaciousness and modernity of the rooms are appreciated, yet noise and occasional maintenance issues have been noted as downsides.

Couldn't fault the holiday.hotel fantastic, we was a little apprehensive before we arrived. Some of the reviews on here where awful, but I spoke to jet2 before we set off and they assured me everything was OK. Rooms clean always found something to eat at every sitting(people often call the food at all inclusive)the entertainment team was absolutely brilliant

I would like to write a positive review of this hotel. We arrived Sunday 25th June and the reception staff were very friendly and attentive.

This hotel is around 15-20 mins in a taxi from REUS airport and was €35 for a taxi.

Upon entry to the room it was very clean and also very nice. 2 large double beds (pillows were awful). The balcony is nice we were overlooking the pool.

The pool at the Hotel is very clean, is cleaned every morning thoroughly however could also be done in the day, often mid afternoon there were leaves from the trees and bits around the filter which is off putting but it is a very nice pool. Had no issues with sunbeds and was a good sun trap.

Location - The location was average, it is quite high up the bank but it does have a nice little bar called Britannia opposite which is cheap for beers and does nice lunch time food and breakfast. The location is also very close to the beach (5mins walk to small beach) This is also not too bad for Salou town, its about 15 minutes walk to find the best places however it isn't bad as all down hill. The way back can be tough in the heat. The price though is brilliant for all of the above.

I would say for a young to middle aged couples this hotel is perfect quiet location and clean. Not good for families and children as the pool is a bit quiet and the long walking.

Really positive experience!

10 night stay as a couple, recently returned. Please note that this is a BUDGET hotel, so do not expect anything else.
Good bits :
Good(free) air-conditioning
Fridge in room
Daily maid service
Good shower with loads of hot water
Lovely rooftop terrace with 2 Jacuzzis and nice views

Not so good bits :
The food ! We were half board, and although we are not picky eaters, we did struggle at both breakfast and dinner to find something. Poor selection, cheapest cuts of meat, and only lukewarm. This has to be the worst food we have ever come across in any hotel. The dining room was "soulless," as was the rest of the hotel.
The hotel is a 15mimutes walk from the centre of Salou, the last 5 minutes is up a fairly steep hill, so wheelchairs/pushchairs may be an issue

As I stated, it's a budget hotel. But, because of its location, I feel more could be done to encourage the guests to stay and use their bars/pools/facilities more.
For example, provide more than FOUR sunlougers on the roof terrace !!
Loads of tables and chairs up there not getting used till 7pm ( when the rooftop bar opens)
Move them out of the way till the evening. Open the bar during the day and I'm sure more guests would use this space.

Overall we love Salou, so we didn't let the negatives of this place spoil our holiday, but we would not return unless there was a vast improvement in food quality

Dear Ian, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are glad to hear that you appreciated the free air-conditioning, fridge in the room, daily housekeeping service, good shower, and our lovely rooftop terrace with Jacuzzis and nice views. We strive to provide a comfortable stay for our guests, and it's great to know that you enjoyed these aspects of our hotel. We apologize for the disappointment you experienced with the food during your stay. We understand the importance of providing a variety of quality meal options for our guests, and we will consider your feedback as we work to improve our dining experience. We also appreciate your suggestions regarding the rooftop terrace and its potential for increased guest usage during the day. Your feedback is valuable to us as we continuously strive to enhance our guest experience. We would like to clarify that our hotel is indeed a budget-friendly option, and we aim to provide a pleasant stay for our guests within that context. Our location is a short walk from the centre of Salou, and we are always happy to assist guests with any mobility concerns they may have. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future, so we can provide you with an even better experience. Kind regards, Salou Sunset by Pierre & Vacances, Guest Manager

First impressions lovely hotel which soon changed. 4 adults staying on the all inclusive basis. From what we could gather the hotel had only been reopened for a few weeks since the takeover.

The pool rules - no smoking or eating by the pool you have to go to the seating area. Children aren’t allowed inflatables, balls, water pistols. As this is the case, make it adults only? I’m surprised they were allowed to jump in the pool! Plus many other rules. Lifeguard was very quick to go and tell people what they couldn’t do!!! No kids club or entertainment as advertised. There is a stage and seating area going to waste. You also can’t swim a full length properly as the pool goes very shallow. The roof top area is lovely. We did receive an email from jet 2 to state it is no longer in use however, we found out it was open Thursday-Sunday from 4pm.

The food-just not up to scratch at all. First off no hand sanitizer as you enter for the buffet, (actually there was no hand sanitizer around the hotel) great with everyone touching the same tongs for the food. No labels on any food, you ask what things are and the staff find it difficult to communicate with you due to the language barrier. Hot food isn’t hot and it is pretty much the same food at lunch time as it is in the evening. There is no temperature on the hot food plate section and the temperature on the chilled meat section was wrong every day.

The rooms are spacious, lovely shower. They didn’t get cleaned everyday as stated so we had to ask for new towels ourselves at times. The balcony also did not get cleaned at all as we had a wonderful hair ball on there for the full 7 days we were there.

Be careful in the lifts as they have a mind of there own at times they take you to different floors first then to your floor.

Unfortunately won’t be returning

Arrived queue for check-in wasn’t that long but takes forever girl on reception didn’t know that we had three rooms booked but sorted in the end . Pool very small. One of our rooms was not being cleaned and complained to reception each time and told us it would be sorted each time this went on for 4or5 days the corridors where not being cleaned you could see dirt more and more everyday. The food is not great and more or less the same thing everyday not good on a 14 day holiday . Few days by the pool Simon and Ariel the entertainer is very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is on a step hill not good for people with walking problems lifts are also a nightmare take ages and in the 14days we where hear the same lift broke down about 10 times with people stuck in it one time the people where pushing the alarm and not one person from reception done a thing and when the maintenance man arrived he was shouting at the people on reception in Spanish by his body language i think it was because they had not tried to help the people.. last day and we arrived back to hotel about 6pm to get showered and changed into room no towels in any of the three rooms so down to reception to be told that the hotel had no clean towels and to come back to reception at 7 or 8 no towels till 10pm and did have to go and ask few times think if the whole place has no towels they would deliver to rooms some staff very pleasant some are rude oh and when we final spoke to rep from jet2 about why room wasn’t being cleaned all he could say is it being cleaned now did not care one bit. Overall would never stay here again

Me and my boyfriend arrived back from our weeks stay yesterday (both early twenties for context). The hotel was very clean and had a lot to offer for the amount we paid. Our room was very spacious and included 2 double beds, with a great view from the balcony. The food was okay, but there wasn't a huge variety and also not hot either. Other than that staff were very friendly and the 2 jacuzzi's on the top floor were a real treat. I would definitely reccomend visiting Tarragona, which is a 20 minute bus ride away (bus 74 and either 4 or 5 to get back). A tapas restaurant El Petite about a 30 minute walk, was the best meal out we had whilst we were there and also the cheapest! It is closed on certain days so double check that and can get busy so reserve a table if you're able to! We also went to the Aquum Spa a 10 minute taxi ride away, it was 50 euros for both of us for 3 hours including swimming caps, and I would definitely recommend. If you do go make sure you take a piece of ID with you. The catamaran was the highlight of our trip, it was 40 euros each but you're on the boat for 3 hours and there was a burger and wedges provided and a free bar. You're transport is also included to and from your hotel. The walk to the beach only takes 10 minutes or so, and if you follow the path around it takes you out to the main strip and a beach much bigger. 2 sunbeds was 10 euros all day, so not bad at all. We didn't manage to visit Barcelona during our stay, but a couple we spoke to who also stayed at our hotel, told us it takes just over an hour on the bus and I believe you have to get a taxi into the centre. But well worth considering if you fancy a day out, you can of course book a day trip to Barcelona with the rep but most likely cheaper to arrange yourselves. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday, and I would like to return again when the weather is warmer.

I’ve never ever written a review for a hotel but I feel this one needs reviewing! As a whole the hotel is lovely and staff are friendly. The pool area is small but enough especially as the pool isn’t deep. The rooms are really nice and are cleaned every day. The staff are friendly and helpful.

However now for the negatives. If I could just review the food directly I would score a 0!!! We went the weekend it had reopened after a 2 year closure for a renovation. The choice for a stay was only 1/2 board or all inclusive there is no self catering facilities. The food was absolutely disgusting the same every day. No typical “English breakfast” or cereals it was salad, stale pastries and bacon swimming in oil with spicy sausages and no beans for breakfast. Tea was fish in a sauce, plain pasta, salad and a sauce! The same everyday, we complained and they said they would change yet nothing did’ luckily we took euros as there was nothing my 8 month old could eat or even us. You get drinks with breakfast but are charged for tea.

The next negative is the lifts! They are extremely hit and miss some days they work some days they don’t. The hotel is also at the top of a big hill (800 steps from the bottom I tracked on my Fitbit) so I wouldn’t recommend for families as it was a nightmare pushing a pram up and down it.

Now for my biggest bug bare! I was charged €8 a day for a cot for my baby! To which I was absolutely disgusted. My travel agents were not informed of this charge and the hotel also took 4 hours to find me one and told me they’de refund me and not give me one. As I explained I had an 8 month old baby with no where to sleep so the poor cleaner was running round and eventually found me one.

As a whole I’d recommend to couples on a budget but would NOT ever recommend to families or picky eaters.

I visited this hotel for a week for my sisters birthday and safe to say we definitely could have had a better experience. We are young adults and not usually too picky about where we stay as we just wanted to have a good time, for reference. The hotel itself was a lovely clean environment, clean rooms as well as pool area and all other facilities. Majority of the staff was very friendly except a few who came across very rude and patronising towards us on different occasions. The food was okay, quite repetitive but overall a decent selection (chips, wedges, hotdogs and burgers served everyday) as well as other continental foods; the lunch menu was exactly the same as dinner except maybe a few more appetisers to choose from at dinner. Pool area was lovely, quite a small pool but never been an issue for space. We had issues with our room card the first two nights of the stay; the card wouldn’t work at all so every time we left the room we had to go all the way back down to reception to get a new one which happened at least 5 times a day. On our first night, the air con in our room was leaking to the point where we had to go to reception at 4am as it was rapidly filling up bottle after bottle. We was told someone will come out in the morning to sort it but no one did, however it luckily stopped by itself. The shower as well flooded the entire bathroom floor, no matter how careful you was due to a tiny ‘shower wall’. The lifts were awful, both lifts were incredibly slow and sometimes took up to 10 mins to arrive or completely go past you. One of the lifts took us down to the basement floor automatically from the ground floor when we pressed to go up, which was just a pitch black room which was petrifying if you are someone who is scared of lifts, as well as them stopping on the wrong floors and the doors not opening. On many occasions we had to walk up the stairs due to these issues. The area of Salou is lovely and has amazing nightlife and multiple beaches, however there is a steep-ish hill to go towards the town as well as the local beaches having steep steps to bare in mind for people who may struggle. I would personally suggest not to visit this hotel as a special occasion etc and only as an efficient place to stay as you really do just receive the bare minimum and from all the problems we had, we did not feel like the staff empathised with us at all. For a 3* hotel I suppose you cannot complain.

The hotel was small and quiet at the time of visiting. This was good as not busy at the pool, bars or restaurant. The place was clean and the location was good.
The rooftop bar was closed ( which was known before going) but still good to sit/lounge in the quiet and enjoy the views. There are 2 jaccuzzi's which was initially cold but after a few contacts with the reception one was drained and re - filled and both heated ( although now probably too hot and needs dropping the temp a few degrees). One lift repeatedly kept breaking down but pleased to see it being efficiently dealt with.
There was always plenty of food to choose from and all good. The steaks were great.
The entertainment at night was not great with the game shows etc. One night there was a band but overall ok for out of season. We just had a few drinks and went out - visiting Chaplains bar which had tributes on ( check their facebook website).
We caught the local bus outside ( 74,4) to Tarragona for 3 euros a trip which was worth a visit.
Overall I really liked this hotel as people seemed friendly and sociable with it being a small hotel.
I think visiting at a quiet time did help .
I would recommend this hotel.
