Alannia Salou is well-regarded for its prime location, a stone's throw from local shops, bars, and the beach, and its family-friendly, clean pool area. However, guests have called out concerns about room privacy, particularly with visible bathrooms and noise issues, despite the rooms being immaculate. While the staff is generally attentive, service can be hit or miss, and some reviewers warn about the high cost of bar drinks and extra charges for services. Families may find the entertainment and room designs lacking, with a need for more inclusive activities and space.

This hotel is great for families, the pool area is amazing and has everything you need!! Plenty of sunbeds, you do need to go down at around 10 to make sure you get a bed.
Animation team were always out providing entertainment and added pool games etc but we found that none of it was in English, the entertainment was pretty much for the Spanish guests.

The grounds of the hotel are stunning and very well maintained.
The down side of this hotel are the rooms & cleanliness
The rooms are set up in blocks of four 2 upstairs and 2 down if you have a small child I would definitely recommend a downstairs room as we had to carry our pushchair up and down the stairs every set which wasn’t ideal (when booking there wasn’t an option to choose a ground floor room did request one but didn’t get one)
Rooms cleaned daily but when I say cleaned I mean used dirty towels folded back up and bed re made
All week we didn’t have our sheets changed once, we had to physically go and find I a maid on a number of occasions to get ourselves clean towels when asked to changed bedding their English is very limited and had no idea what we was on about.
Rooms are very small, and basic
the toilet and shower are basically in the room just covered my a “slightly” frosted glass it wasn’t a problem for us but I imagine travelling with older kids they would want privacy as well as yourself

Check in!!!! We arrived at 11am with a small child been travelling from early hours to arrive and be told we can’t check in until 4 I don’t know if this happens all the time but it is really inconvenient, bags are stored in a locker room for you.
Location is great out of way but a short 5-10 minute walk to all bars and restaurants

We was bed & breakfast we never ate at the hotel so can’t comment on the food but the morning time slot to get breakfast was only 45 minutes I think it was 7.45-8.30 which I found very strange.

After debating over many hotels in Salou, we chosen the Alannia as the pool looked amazing and didn't look like a high rise block of flats. I managed to get a good deal on this booking direct and cheaper flights into Barcelona. Not a chance I would pay what jet2 are charging over the peak times.

The good points.....

The pool is great for kids, the slides were enjoyed by us all, BUT the biggest concern is the lack of unbrellas. I would say there were around 20 for the whole resort which is ridiculous with small kids who need shade. The pool opens at 10am and there is a stampeed for those shaded loungers so in the heat of the day we went back to the room or sat near the bar.

We were only B&B, but breakfast was good and did have a good selection of food for everyone

Pool bar was reasonably priced, 5eur for a sangria and 8eur for cocktails which were good. Staff were friendly and fast even at peak times

The surroundings were nice and well maintained.

Now the bad......

ROOMS - yes all the reviews say the same about the loo and shower, but after staying there a week it grated on us, walking from a wet shower direct into the room, the door toilet had gaps so you couldn't even spend a penny in peace. Zero storage, a tiny clothes rail and a couple of shelves for a family of 4 was ridiculous, the room was a constant bombsite as there wasn't room to swing a cat. Alannia really made a huge mistake on those designs that will never score them high on trip advisor. Nothing makes sense in the room. A tiny sink, no holder's for toiletries in the shower. People hanging beach towels over bannister. Every person has the same gripe.

Entertainment.

This hotel caters for the Spanish ONLY, even though Jet2 are selling this resort and there was quite a lot of English there. All the kids discos were in Spanish, I know kids don't know better but something like baby shark or something universal would make them all happy. Considering the newness of the hotel, price and level in wants to be the animaton team at night were a bunch of late teens dancing on stage to cheesy songs, I'd expect something more like trained acts or decent singers on. Hotels nearby had miles better entertainment than this.

There's also an alannia app, but the entertainment part of it defaulted to Spanish only so you had to second guess what was on but that didn't matter as we ventured out most nights anyway.

Plenty of nice bars and restaurants in Salou so venture out and explore.

For a new hotel and to only have 3.5 on TA is not good and they need to address all these main issues that most people have. I don't see them doing anything about it which is a shame as aestically it's a lovely place but in reality, spend your money elsewhere.

For me il stick to a good, solid all rounder hotel that's established and much better value for money

I'm conflicted about this review... on the face of it, this hotel seems perfect for family holidays, great pools, lovely grounds and very clean. Staff, except one very grumpy man in the restaurant, were very friendly and helpful.

However. The rooms, although a perfect layout for families with the interconnecting room set up had big issues for us. First issue was absolutely no sound proofing - be prepared to hear everything and unfortunately for us, we had extremely inconsiderate upstairs neighbours who'd come to party and we could hear every word spoken, kids screaming, the banging and scraping of feet and furniture, flushing of loos etc. until 3am for two nights. It was awful. A relative who was also staying in a ground floor apartment had quiet families in the rooms next to her and even she couldn't cope with the noise level, which of course the families couldn't help. My family and our relative asked to be moved to upstairs rooms and this was thankfully accommodated, but as it was September there was plenty availability to do so, in the height of the season I'd imagine you wouldn't have that option. If we hadn't been moved, I would seriously have considered moving hotels.

Another big issue for us is that the shower and toilet cubicle are in the bedroom! Not a seperate room and this wasn't clear to us on any hotel information. It was very random and with three teenagers who wanted showers and going to the loo to remain private, we had to keep moving from room to room to give each their privacy, which was ridiculous. There isn't even a full door on the toilet, just a piece of frosted glass. We couldn't understand the thinking behind the design and it didn't suit our family at all.

The beds were comfortable, the kid's room had two singles and the sofa was made up as a bed so accommodated three and they were comfortable. TVs and small fridges in both rooms and our rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding, which was appreciated.

We were booked for breakfast only, and there was a good variety of buffet style food, nice coffee and it was lovely and clean. This is where we encountered the grumpy man so we were in and out as quickly as possible to avoid his wrath. Our mistake or rather, reception's mistake, was giving us the incorrect time for breakfast and despite there being plenty food left that would have been wasted, he wouldn't listen and literally gave us five minutes to get breakfast! Completely unnecessary.

The bar staff were always lovely, particularly Miki who was always cheerful and an absolute perfectionist with his cocktail making. The terrace bar upstairs was a lovely place to sit but unfortunately only open at the weekend during our stay because the summer season was ending.

The animacion staff were entertaining, it was winding down during our stay but what we did see looked like fun.

24 hour security too and the guards were also very friendly.

Unfortunately we would not return here due to the issues with the rooms which is such a shame because it's a really lovely place and the interconnecting rooms set up is perfect for families but the noise and bathroom situation is not.

Returned from a week at the Alannia, what a fabulous hotel.

The hotel is only approximately 12 months old, so everything is nice and new but is also very well maintained. Constantly saw maintenance and grounds keeping g the place clean and tidy.

The rooms are, as people said, probably not suitable for people with older children, but I did hear some people say they took a shower curtain with and pegged it up to give the person showering some modesty. We were travelling as family, 2 adults and a 4 year old so it was fine for us.

The beds were comfy, and the rooms were kept clean by the housekeeping. Storage is limited, but again, we managed fine.

Overall, the hotel caters to families and children with activities throughout the day, slides, inflatable pillow, lily pads, foam parties, etc.

We stayed bed and breakfast, and at breakfast, there was plenty of choice for everyone. We had nothing to complain about. The food at the pool.bar was very nice and reasonably priced but the service was slow and unorganised, the staff were trying really hard but there was just not enough of them. I found, assuming it was, the supervisor Taymer (not sure if I've spelt that correctly) particularly poor, often saw him waving hands looking like giving orders but not actually helping the staff who were trying really hard but sometimes looked overwhelmed. It is for this reason I've given it 4, not 5 stars.

Location is great for the start of all the bars, and as you get further down the "strip" towards the beach, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to cater to everyone.

One other negative os there is not much shade around the pool, so if you want an umbrellas, then you will need to 1st up in the queue for when the pool opens at 10 am.

Definitely recommend and definitely would book again.

Another tip is that if you do go and fly into Reus, go the toilet before you leave the plane as there is no toilet until you are through passport control.

Arrived back from here in May this year, one of the most lovely and clean hotels I’ve stayed in, rooms wasn’t massively big but they did us, we got allocated a upstairs room with 4 single beds but opted to pay extra to move downstairs, although we lost a bed, downstairs rooms have a double and sofa bed, we made the right decision for us, we travelled 5 adults and 5 children. the youngest being 3 and oldest child 12 there was something for them all at this hotel, the younger kids loved the splash park and the oldest ones loved the water trampoline and games room! For me the food wasn’t amazing but I’ll admit I’m a VERY fussy eater lol but didn’t starve! Could be a bit cold at times but there is a microwave near the pizza area, the kids loved the little robot that wizzed round the dining hall, location wise your around 10/15 mins walk from the main shops/bars and beach. Security on the gate makes you feel safe staff were lovely and so friendly. We are coming back this September we can’t wait!

This new resort has so much potential but is a mess.

All of the facilities are half the size they need to be to accommodate the guests when 50% o more full.
Subsequently the pools are mobbed, the dining room is like a zoo and the reception area is tiny. These means massive waits for guests at meal times an check ins.
The kids club is tiny and once again screaming children with utter chaos. the door was left open for anyone to wander in and out even though children can be 'checked in' and left. The playground is small but nice but unfortunately is in the sun most of the day so not used very much.

The animation was good but only in Spanish. 95% of the guests staying here are Spanish however as we booked a package holiday through a UK major tour operator we was very disappointed.

The restaurant staff and reception staff are very helpful but completely over worked.

The only staff that seemed to be relaxing were the 'lifeguards' whom I clocked many times on their mobiles.

However the worst thing about this hotel is the rooms that in theory could of had so much to offer to families that need 2 rooms. You can hear the guests, above you, to the side of you on the toilet, speaking , moving chairs. The design is open plan so the shower and toilet are very much part of the room! The people is the room above us were smoking in their room which I am sure is not allowed.

No pool towels and kettle and low quality food - needs to be downgraded to a 3 star to avoid disappointment

not long back from my holiday in salou at the Alannia and I must admit this was definitely the best apartments/hotel we have ever stayed in. 2 adult and 2 children age 13 and 10 shared the lower ground rooms which was an amazing set up, 2 smart TV's, 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets, you even had 2 fridges. the Wi-Fi in the rooms is so powerful i was able to watch live football on my tablet (connect to the resort Wi-Fi its so much faster). We absolutely loved the set up outside with the garden and chairs. I would say the only things that lets this apartment down is the lack of clothing space and no coat hangers. our room didn't get cleaned until the 3rd day then it got cleaned everyday after and be prepared to get annoyed if you have heavy footed guests up above you.
Now for the surrounding area and grounds. at night this place is like something out of a film, its beautiful at night and so peaceful. we never experienced one problem at all during our stay.
Pool area is again fantastic never had any problems getting beds and the kids loved it, we all had so much fun in the pool they have loads to keep every age occupied while having pool days.
we stayed bed and breakfast and always opted for the early session 8:15am and never had any problems at all, if I was staying again I would never go half or full board as I don't thing the restaurant can cope with the amount off guests it carry's, the staff are amazing and work so hard trying to get everything right.
I've not included some of the bad things that happened during our stay as they are so little and not worth writing about.
keep up the good work and hopefully see you all again

We stayed here for 4 night full board there were 49 of us. The place is ideal for families, 10 mins to main beach. Staff friendly, room well presented.
You get used to the frosted shower & toilet door, would be better if the toilet door went to the ceiling so the rest of the room can’t hear you going.
My only criticisms would be that there is hardly any Storage,so if a family of 4 went for more than a long weekend you’d have to live out of the suitcase. Definitely need more hooks to dry towels & swim wear.
Remember to return your cups to the bar as you get charged €1 for them, not a big deal unless like us you were buying drinks for large groups. Also maybe the crepe van could do with another machine as it takes ages.

Lovely new resort, spotlessly clean and quiet when we were there in October. The pool is lovely, my boys aged 11 and 15 spent lots of time in it. The rooms are quite small, the beds are comfortable. We had two interconnecting ground floor rooms, the boys in one and us in the other. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the beach past many shops and restaurants, we felt very safe in the area. A taxi to the theme parks took less than 10 minutes and cost around €8. The only issue is the complete lack of privacy. There’s nothing other than a frosted door (that doesn’t reach the floor or the ceiling) between people in the room and you on the loo. The sink and the shower are also on display. So if you are not holidaying with someone you are intimate with, this is not the place for you!

First of all on a positive note the hotel is very clean and modern. Your wristband for your stay is also the key for your room which makes life a lot easier, so you don’t have to carry key cards around with you. The pool is great but it was very very cold when we went! It is not heated so pretty unbearable in autumn. So now the negative.., the rooms are modern but very small, nowhere to put suitcases and very little storage for unpacked clothes! The shower is in the room and the toilet is just a box with a glass door on it. The bathroom sink is in the room! Very strange layout and absolutely no privacy ( showering or in the toilet). The food was cold, very little choice. Heat lamps on the gantry didn’t work so food cold all of the time. No English tea bags at breakfast just very strong coffee and flavoured tea. The last 2 days there was no orange juice available at breakfast. The system for the meals is back in the dark ages with cards that they mark off when you attend. If you lose the card can take a day to replace as they are not printed on site or can only be printed by a certain person.
