The C. Baldwin, Curio Collection by Hilton garners praise for its central location, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. Travelers enjoy the hotel's eclectic atmosphere and clean, modern rooms, though some express concerns over room maintenance and value, highlighting unexpected fees and inconsistent service. While the hotel boasts a range of amenities, including a gym and shuttle services, the experience is somewhat marred by service issues that guests feel could be improved.

I loved the hotel.. Rafael downstairs was the nicest man in the whole staff. If you are coming to Houston Texas, stay here. They have a 3 course meal for 20$. My only complaint Is the lighting in the rooms. I had a corner room & it should think about ceiling windows. In My shower .. the water took a long time to go down

We really enjoyed our staycation at C Baldwin. We stayed for 2 nights after Christmas and it was very quiet. The bartender said it’s been much busier during the week with business travelers, and quiet on weekends, which makes sense because this side of downtown has less “nightlife” than the north or east sides. The rooms and public spaces are brand new and gorgeously designed with a cool modern vibe. We didn’t get to try Rosalie for dinner, but we went for breakfast and everything was delicious. When I saw the amazing massive chandelier over the Lobby Bar it was a must to sit and have a drink there. There is a beautiful patio behind both the bar and Rosalie that would be a fabulous place to sit when the weather cooperates.

We booked a King Bed Large Corner Room on a lower floor, with a northeast view overlooking the front drive area. The large floor to ceiling windows on two sides let in tons of light during the day, and that’s the only positive thing I have to say about the lighting. At night you really notice the poor lighting in the room. The bath lighting is not bad but could use an additional recessed light in the ceiling. The entry area where the closet is has only one recessed light, positioned to shine on the mirror but not on the closet storage area, so you have a challenge seeing your things in the closet. The bedroom and lounge area only has one floor lamp and the two bedside lights, and no ceiling lights. In the Large Corner Room the floor lamp sits next to the sculptural wood rocking chair, which is beautiful but not comfortable. Forget about sitting on the sofa at night to read, it’s too dark. The only place you can read at night is in bed with the bedside lights on.

On the positive side, I loved all the finishes and interior design in the room. Between the bath vanity, the closet unit and the drawers below the TV there was plenty of storage. The bath and shower space was great, loved the tile, flooring and vanity design. I used the Hilton app to select my room and it was cool to see in advance what the options were and what our view would be. We were on the 4th floor and didn’t feel like we were missing out by not being on a higher floor. Despite my lighting criticisms I would definitely recommend the C. Baldwin.

A nice hotel with a chill feeling about it.
Pluses - in house restaurant ‘Rosalie’ is very nice and there are many other nice pubs and restaurants within 0.5 mile walk. Nice bright rooms with full wall windows.
Minuses- “corner rooms’” come at a premium price and may not be true ‘corners’; breakfast ends at an usually early 1030 am on a Sunday
Overall, acceptable.

Me and my fiance had a terrible experience at the C. Baldwin.

Let me just start by saying that I love the Rosalie restaurant, really like the hotel's aesthetic, and enjoyed attending the grand opening last year. Me and my fiance are always downtown and love popping in for a drink and a snack so I thought it would be a perfect location to celebrate our engagement with friends and family.

When I was making reservations I explained to the front desk and the concierge that this was for a very special occasion and that I would like to do something special for my fiance because she loves this hotel so much. I asked if they could put some items in the hotel room for our arrival (e.g. flowers, chocolate, champagne, or at least a note) but the staff didn't provide anything. I asked if a small slice of cake saying congratulations or happy engagement could be provided but nothing ever came of it. I actually don't think any of the staff ever really congratulated us on the entirety of the stay. My fiance also called the front desk requesting a room with a bathtub and she was upset with the way they responded. Lastly we live about one mile from the hotel and were told that the hotel car could not drop us off the next day, no exceptions.

If you plan on celebrating a special event, please look elsewhere.

My wife and I flew from California and stayed at The C. Baldwin by Hilton for our anniversary get away and the staff made our stay memorable from the time we checked in to the time we checked out!

We were greeted with warm smiles by the manager of the hotel and a front desk attendant named Shelly. We told them we were on our anniversary and the manager and a bar tender named Laura brought complimentary wine to our room, that started the warm memories right there!

Our stay was very comfortable Kisha, Shelly, and Sheka were all very accommodating with coordinating our housekeeping needs and Laura’s bar tending skills are unmatched. She made sure we were fully taken care of while holding a very entertaining conversation with us, while making great drinks. It’s that type of hospitality from all the staff that will keep my wife and I coming back for future stays.

Shelly helped me secretly plan out were I could get the best flowers to surprise my wife while she was sleeping and Kisha even accommodated us $40 on our valet expenses. It’s the small considerate things like that, that adds value into guests experiences.

Thank you staff, I’ll send you postcards from California 😊

This hotel has a nice vibe, almost like a better design team was used to create it. There are all these little details that I’ve found impressive. The valet was really kind. The front desk was very helpful, especially when I changed my reservation. The building is gorgeous - I think it’s a recent renovation (which is always my favorite type of hotel to stay in), but it’s done so well. The room has floor to ceiling windows, with beautiful curtains. The materials and interior design is just fantastic, so many details, like the lights by the bed, the materials that are used, the texture and finish of everything is very good. The chicken sandwich had fresh crisp French fries at the lobby bar last night. And the cappuccinos - like who expects a hotel lobby cafe to make a cappuccino this good (like the way the milk was heated created a sweetness that I just loved), paired with fresh fruit (pineapple, melon, strawberries, and mangos) and a croissant that was very good. If you travel, you know these things are all hard to do… like the fruit can be weird, or too ripe, or the croissants can be bready and kinda gross. The fitness room is legit! And it doesn’t smell like rubber tire off gassing, even though it’s new! (Does that make sense? Like, the last hotel I stayed in, I couldn’t work out in the fitness center, because it smelled like whoa toxic rubber from the floor). I saved my favorite part for last… I opened the door to my room, and there’s a Peloton bike next to my bed. Like legit. I’ve never used a Peloton. So, I used it yesterday and had way more fun than I expected - something about their hardware/software integration just makes it a magical experience. But, how cool that there’s a Peloton by the bed! That is the coolest thing for a single traveler like me! Anyway, I can tell that they’re running a skeleton crew at the moment, since travel has been low, but they’re working very hard, and I’m very impressed. By far my favorite hotel in this price category, A+ 100%

My hubby and I had an amazing experience! This was our first time staying at the C.Baldwin, but it definitely will not be our last. The valet parking was incredible! The decor and ambiance was romantic and elegant. The floor to ceiling windows offered a supreme view of the city and the rooms were modern and spacious. Seeing our name on the menu to the television when we entered our room was a personal touch that made us feel special. It was so cool to have the menu and room service options digitally in the television. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back.

This is our first experience staying at this hotel and we were very impressed with the friendliness, cleanliness, and overall experience. We were pleasantly greeted from the moment and we pulled up to the front door. The large floor to ceiling windows in our room on the 17th floor gave us amazing views of the city. The beds were very comfortable with soft, white linens, which I love. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. It was all a very nice setting to our Lakewood Valentine’s Marriage Retreat which was very enjoyable as well. We recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a quality hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for a work trip.
My reservation was made to include a day earlier as I arrived at the hotel at 5:30AM. I called the day prior to confirm and pre-check-in as I knew my arrival time was odd.
I'd strongly recommend doing that if you have a similar arrival time.

The person at front desk was pleasant and welcoming. The rest of my time was greeting with exceptional service. The hotel is pristine however lacks social space but I believe it was structured to cater for the working professionals and xpats who visit alot.

I had one problem where on my first try I wasn't getting hot water in the shower. I called and they sent maintenance up immediately and it was sorted out.
I'm not big on carpet rugs but it was clean an did not have an odor.

Overall the service was good and the location was ideal to my work meetings which was a walk away using the sky bridges.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any good self-parking options nearby. You can find surface lots a few blocks away that may be a little cheaper, but I'm not sure that the trade-off in convenience and safety is worth it.
