Detailed Reviews
After reading the reviews before booking, I was skeptical, but the great location, affordable rate, free cruise parking, and availability convinced me to give it a shot. We were cruising with several other families, and we secured a rate with Beachcomber that was a bit lower than the rate they had all secured at LQ just down the street, AND our room included free cruise parking for the week, which they were paying another $80 for!
The Beachcomber was quiet, clean, and safe; the employees are EXTREMELY helpful and friendly; and the amenities comparable with other hotels in this price-point. We even received an upgrade to a downstairs room at no extra charge!
The rooms are nice and clean, but the bedspreads did look like they might have seen the Reagan administration. The beds were otherwise clean and neat, and the mattress and pillows slept wonderfully. The parking lot is small and was full (it was Mardi Gras, so lots of visitors in Galveston), but quiet and secure, and we were able to park pretty much right outside of our room. We filled out the extra set of paperwork to leave our car there while on our 7-day cruise, and moved the car to the long-term parking along the privacy fence. No shuttle is offered, so you will have to taxi or Uber to the port, if you don't have friends or other family members to shuttle you, as we did. Our car was perfectly safe while we were gone, in spite of the fact that one of our kiddos left one of the doors unlocked! Yikes!
We will definitely consider the Beachcomber again, when visiting Galveston! If you're expecting the Four Seasons, this motel isn't going to satisfy you, but if you are looking for a clean, safe, and affordable room, you've found it, and the free cruise parking is a HUGE bonus, in my opinion!

The Beachcomber is in a great location less than a mile from the beach. Even though it appears to be an older property, our room was renovated and was clean. Parking available on site for extended cruises out of port of Galveston

Had a great time! Friendly staff, and clean rooms. Close to the beach (within walking distance.) Plus there is a Waffle House within walking distance and the Sidewall makes it a great location for getting to where you want to go with minimal effort.

It was a decent place to stay for a couple of nights. It's by a Waffle House and was a little sketchy and loud at times, but ended up with no issues. People at the front were really nice. They have a fridge, microwave and safe in the room too. For the price you pay, especially being such a short walking distance to the beach, it is well worth it. We would definitely come stay here again.

When I arrived to check in I told the woman at the front desk that the room was for my family members. I live in Galveston and wanted to make this stay special, so I planned to stock the room with water, some treats, beach accoutrements, etc. When I entered the room the air conditioner was not working. We tried to reset it to no avail. I walked back to the front desk and asked her to give us another room. She said she would send maintenance to look at it and I said if in fact it’s broken (which I know it is) do I have to walk back here and get another key? She said yes, so that whole situation rubbed me the wrong way. Why couldn’t she just issue me a new room at that point? So the maintenance man comes and mind you in the meantime I have dinner cooking and my guests are set to arrive within the hour. The maintenance man in fact does the same thing that I did to try to reset the air conditioner and then he tells me yes it’s broken and that he wants to swap it out. He tells me it’ll take about 15 to 20 minutes and when I go back to the front desk she is irritated because I don’t want to wait 15 to 20 minutes for him to fix the air conditioner! At that point I get heated and I am not speaking in a calm voice anymore I tell her I just want another room. She argues with me as to why I need to take the room that she’s giving me and I refuse so she abruptly says well we’ll just cancel your reservation and you can go elsewhere. Again my guests are arriving in about an hour! She finally issues me another key and I leave and my head is pounding at this point. That is just the problem that I had at check in. I could go on and on. Later the next day my family member actually asked for a vacuum cleaner because the floors were so dirty. He mentioned that the room’s AC didn’t work yesterday when his family members checked him in. HUGE MISTAKE! Now she knows that he is my relative and again the same front desk person said that he could not borrow the vacuum cleaner because he wasn’t the one that checked into the room and the reservation wasn’t under his name. She wouldn’t give him fresh towels either. I thought that it was just me that had a problem with her, but I after she wouldn’t give my brother towels I am convinced that she needs to find a different job where she doesn’t have to speak to people.I just cannot believe that this woman works with the public. In my entire life I have never been spoken to like that and I worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and have never never never spoken to a customer like she did to me.

On a hot summer day, after sitting under the sun in the crashing waves and trying to flush sand out of my trunks, it was rewarding to come back to a clean, COLD room to take a nap in. Slept great, showers were nice and all the appliances you need for a quick snack (Microwave, Mini fridge etc.) and ofc a flat screen tv. If you don’t feel like spending your entire pocket on a room, I do recommend The Beach Comber inn.

The staff is cool and friendly and my room/bathroom were cleaned ( but smelled like An old library the first day I got here like no over has been here For a decade or something but thanks God the smell quickly went away) . Anyways I enjoyed my vacation here ; I really thought it wasn’t going safe for some reason but I was completely wrong , do not worry people it’s safe... also the location is very nice literally 3 minutes away from the beach and 5 min away from Kroger wow how lucky ? So many good places to eat with having you to drive a distance.
My one and only concern about this place could have : the WiFi, it’s crap , like literally CRAP so before you get here make sure to pay your phone bill so you can stay connected otherwise yikes.

Our family of 4 was on a tight budget (single income) and this hotel exceeded our expectations! Usually, a Saturday night is costly on the island but not here. Very friendly staff and ran very well! Another guest forgot their phone charger and they provided one and said just have it returned when checking out. The AC blew cold, hot water, cold fridge, microwave, ice machine was working, breakfast and 24/7 coffee - what else do you need? God bless the management, staff, and owners!

For a budget motel, the Beachcomber Inn is a great value. They have just recently added a beautiful pool to their location. They also do a great job of making sure that only registered guests are on their property.
If you're looking for a brand new motel, this may not be what you're looking for, but if you're looking for a great location and great value, look no further!

Nice hotel. It isn't a luxury resort and doesn't claim to be. The room was clean and comfortable. It's near the seawall and right beside a grocery store for anything you may have forgotten. We stayed the night before our cruise departed. The hotel offers free on-site cruise parking if you stay the night before. They don't offer a shuttle but an uber was only like $16. With the cost of the hotel with free parking and an uber the price was actually pretty close to the cost of parking at the terminal.

if you want to leave your car at the hotel, it's free and you can call a taxi , Otherwise Google cruise parking Galveston and choose a site and reserve online. The cost after the taxi fare is about the same but when you get off the ship it's easy to get a taxi and you don't have to wait for a parking shuttle. Enjoy the cruise!
I have no idea? You need to call the front desk.
They do allow for pets.
We are approx. 3.5 miles from the cruise ship terminal. Many guests who come by car park their car at the hotel and take a cab, forgoing the parking fees charged at the terminal.
Cab fares run about 18.00$ or so.
I know of only one rental car agency on Galveston Island, Enterprize. If you are flying into to Houston, it would probably be best to rent a car at the airport or nearby off terminal.
Shuttle costs often are close to rental car fee.
Hope this help0s,
Peter... Beachcomber Inn
