Upon arrival and throughout stay the hotel staff was very friendly. The room was very clean and nice , looked like it had a recent renovation. The hotel was very quiet. Our only issue was with breakfast. They have changed their items for breakfast. They have done away with the regular scrambled eggs and bacon and replaced them with gross cheese omelettes, tasteless turkey sausage, tough pork sausage links, and biscuits hard enough to break the plastic fork trying to cut them open. They need to go back to the old breakfast.
This was not a staff issue but a corporate decision as all the hotels now have the same breakfast.

It was hot. Turned down the temperature. The AC blower was not responding. I called the front desk, explained the problem. I was told that the thermostat was controlled at the wall. I explained that we had been working with the thermostat on the wall but that the fan/vent located at the window was not blowing. She said, “Ok. We can control it from here.” It them began getting cooler! So, while the place was clean, you do not have control of the thermostat! 😆

I called to make a reservation for a family reunion on 6/15/11 speaking to Deana and she quoted our rate at $84.80 with a confirmation #. We arrived on 6/24/11 for our handicaped room. We also met other family that night. Then the next morning our bill was placed under our door for $158.19. Was I ever shocked, so down to the office I go. I spoke with manager, Mr. [--] and explained it. He ask me to send him an e-mail stating day, time and person I spoke with. I did this on 6/27, but didn't get a reply, so I called and spoke to Deana again stating he was on vacation and would be back after the 4th. I waited and called again on 7/11 to find out that she had given me the wrong info again....he didn't go on vacation until the 4th and came back on 12th. So I told him she did it to me again.....wrong info. I had to re-send the mail as stated not received. He told me previously he would make it right or at least charge the amount of last years visit, but then he would have to talk to his boss....then nothing. I call again to find out he no longer works there and old manager not in, but to check in about 7-8am. I called again, not in again, so left my # on 7/26....still nothing yet. I am not a happy camper!!!! We stayed here last year and had no problems...only charged $126.55 also..
Also, if you are handicaped...watch out for the tub....it has no grips or mat to keep you from falling, which my husband almost did getting out of the chair on the slick tub after his shower. If I had not been in the bathroom at the time, he would been down in the tub or tile floor hurt.
The rooms are clean and nice, but we will not be going back again. Mr. [--] was very nice and courteous and prohably should still be there taking care of business as the owner surely doesn't do it. So Beware Everyone!!!

Let me start by stating that we travel a lot for work, I'm an IHG Elite member and have NEVER stayed as such a run down, dirty, smelly, out dated property in many many years.
Upon checking in I was asked to sign a non smoking policy, which I did, I was thanked for being an Elite customer. When we got to the room it had a strong cigar and wet dog smell, the chair in the sitting room had 2 different types of fabric as it had clearly been chewed by an animal, the seat was a dark brown faux leather and the chair arms and chair was a green fabric. The bathroom shower did not close so it leaked all night, the carpet was stained and stink had corrosion all over it, and the view from our room was of the AC towers. When I asked for a change I was told the hotel was sold out and there were no rooms available she was sorry I wasn't happy with the room. I wrote a letter to the hotel manager who replied he understands my disappointment but I need to understand "I am truly sorry for the unpleasant smell of cigarette and dog in your room. Our odors are mixed in the rooms because of the years and current conditions of the rooms. Almost as of the odor have impregnated on the walls. I understand your disappointment with the furniture, and I want to clarify that a much needed renovation is planned for mid-2024". To charge over $200 a night for a room in that condition is ridiculous. If I wasn't a member of IHG and had been to other properties I would NEVER go to another Holiday Inn Express. I couldn't wait to leave so I could go home and take a shower I felt so dirty and disgusted.

Clean hotel rooms with pleasant brand typical furnishings. Beds, bathrooms and breakfast facilities in the physical spaces are in very good shape and well maintained.
However the real standout in this hotel is the helpful and friendly staff. All the way from front desk management to breakfast and housekeeping, the staff went way out of their way to be helpful.

The hotel is nice because it is brand new however if you experience an issue of any kind and finally get fed up and try complaining to corporate the owner of the hotel will retaliate against you by cancelling your reservation. I had booked a large amount of rooms and continually had to call because people were telling me that they could not find the reservation when they were calling in to book from my block. I was also quoted one price from the front desk, given confirmation numbers and then called the very next day from the owner saying he was not going to honor the prices I had received the day before. I finally called corporate and was told they could not do anything because it was privately owned. When the owner learned I did this he cancelled all of my rooms. This hotel also has complaints with the Better Business Bureau because they failed to cancel a reservation and a woman was charged 200 dollars even though she called within the time frame alotted to cancel her reservation. I would suggest one of the other brand new hotels in town as there are at least 4 others with staff that appreciate their guests.

I have been traveling across Texas and Louisiana for the past 10 years. My last visit with Holiday Inn Express has been one of my best experiences of staying in a Hotel. Although I travel through Center on many occasions, this was my first at this Hotel. The clerk, Dina, at the desk was extremely polite. When I originally booked my room, there weren't any double beds left for the night. She stated that if someone cancels, she would let me know and let us get it. The following day I received a call letting me know that a double was available. When we arrived we found out about their complementary beer and wine, and breakfast. Everything in my room was previously well taken care of. The beds and Flat Screen TV made me feel like I was right at home. The next day when me and my daughter left, I told the owner of the Hotel that I was very pleased with my stay. This is the most Texas friendly Hotel in the area and I highly recommend this to anyone that wants the Red Carpet Treatment.

This hotel is nice as far as being new and compared to other hotels in the area, however the staff is uneducated in customer service. They have not lost one but two of our reservations. The first one we asked for a confirmation number and was told they don't do that. When we questioned the lady she got upset and barked " you don't think I can do my job?". When we arrived for our stay our reservation could not be found. The second reservation we made was for two nights, I called to cancel one of those nights but when arrived the whole reservation had been cancelled.
I called to speak to the manager Jonathan Davies who offered no resolution to the issue only saying he would only offer one night stay as a refund but could not do a credit on our credit card then offered us good luck in our business in the center area and that was that.

This is a very good place to stay. It is getting a little worn around the edges but still very very clean. I will always stay here when going through Center, TX. Staff is very nice and work very hard to keep everyting the best. BK was very pleasant and good food. I get a good night sleep. Normally very quiet.

I stayed in the Holiday Inn Express in Center. The staff was friendly, they had a complimentary happy hour, breakfast was complimentary and had coffee/juice/eggs/bacon/sausage/gravy/bread/fruit/cereal/pancakes, etc. Reservations were as agreed to, I was in the computer, room was new, clean, hvac was fine, bed comfortable, adequate tv. Parking lot was spacious and well lit, safe. Close to wall mart and Chaps barbecue. I rate it 5 stars for what it is, located where it is. Will stay there again for sure.
