Leaving Circular quay in Sydney we took the ferry to Manly and what a beautiful day it turned out to be. The trip over was so relaxing and the views from the ferry were spectacular, passing by by the Opera house and the harbour bridge on the way. Arriving in Manly we walked down the Main Street were there was a street market with lovely stalls including ethnic Aboriginal art and jewellery. Also some very nice stalls selling beautiful linen clothing perfect for wearing in the heat. Street musicians played in several doorways as we progressed to the beach, a wonderful holiday vibe was experience. The stunning beach appeared before us at the end of the Main Street where families were enjoying the beautiful day. Along the promenade there are many cafes and restaurants where you can sit and take part in people watching. If you’re in Sydney this is a must do trip. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience…
Second time to stay and the renovations look amazing! Modern and White (feels like the modern version of heaven! 😇) welcomed by a Concierge upon entry and Staff were all smiles! Special thanks to Sophie at Reception and manager Maria for the VIP treatment! Grateful for the Accor membership recognition! Highly recommended hotel and will definitely stay again and again. ☺️
What a great experience at this hotel. It's hard to combine luxury with very friendly and relaxed hotel-keeping. But the Manly Pacific just works. We stayed in three different hotel rooms over the course of the month. The rooms facing the beach were outstanding. And we will never forget how incredibly kind Coko and Amy were in helping us out with a luggage drama at the end of our stay. There aren't many hotel managers who will locate and then drive your missing luggage personally over to an other hotel after you check out! Thank you. We will be back.
Great location in the heart of Manly. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful clean rooms. Great rooftop pool with views of the ocean. Only one thing I didn’t like, there were no top bed sheet on the beds. Bottom mattress bed sheet then only a quilt. Other then that couldn’t fault a thing.
The hotel proved the ideal choice for my family birthday party. I booked seven rooms - some with twin beds - and we all found them excellent. Service was great and we were even provided with a wheelchair to use. The pool area up top is great for kids. The breakfast at the Bistro was excellent, with made to order omelettes an extra luxury. We had our banquet dinner party at the Bistro and the lovely staff couldn't do enough for us. Very happy with the hotel and the staff..
Good Points: Great location right on Manly beach, front desk staff outwardly very pleasant and helpful. Bad Points: Returned to our room on the evening of 27th December to find one bed with linens changed but second bed was not changed, just the new sheets left in the room without actually fitting on to the bed. Also noticed one of my 7 year old daughters stuffed animals was missing from the room. Not a big deal to most but very distressing to my 7 year old. Informed the front desk of lost item, was promised the hotel would talk to housekeeping the next day. 28th December - returned to front desk to enquire about lost property, was informed nothing was logged on the system the previous evening, was promised they would check with housekeeping. 29th December - returned to front desk, was informed nothing was logged on the system, was promised a lost property report would be raised and apologies issued. 30th December morning - Checked with front desk, lost property report had been logged but no sign of lost property, promised that they would check again with housekeeping. 30th December morning - On entering the bathroom in our room, my wife complained something sharp had pierced her foot when walking into the bathroom, checked the carpet and found 3 sharp objects protruding from the carpet tack strip used to fix the carpet to the entrance to the bathroom. Informed front desk, who visited our room and confirmed the presence of of sharp objects. Was informed this would be fixed whilst we were out for the day, I asked if we there was any possibility we could have another (upgraded) room, was told they would check availability. 30th December afternoon - returned to hotel, was informed at front desk that the protruding objects had been fixed. Entered the room, and confirmed that protruding objects had been fixed, noticed that one of our two hotel provided cups was missing. Hotel staff delivered a new small cuddly toy as way of apology for lost stuffed toy, well received by my daughter. 30th December afternoon - daughter complained of something sharp on the floor she had stood on. Checked the floor and found 3 small fragments of broken pottery lodged in the carpet, collected the fragments and took them to front desk asking to speak to the duty manager. Duty manager did not appear but front desk person stated they took this very seriously and offered a free breakfast for 1 day of our stay.... I asked that the carpet be thoroughly vacuumed whilst we visited the hotel pool ( pool was out of action for the first two days of our stay and the sauna was never in action). Returned to the room but could not definitely say the room had been vacuumed and broken cup was not replaced. 1st January - had to visit the hospital as daughter complained her foot was hurting, after 4 hour wait doctor found small sliver of pottery lodged in my daughters right heel. 3rd January - enquired at front desk whether the free breakfast was still available, front desk stated nothing was logged on the system, seems to be typical of this hotel, promises made but nothing followed through. Front desk stated free breakfast would be made available for the last 2 days of our stay. 4th January, surprised to find breakfast was logged as available and took up the offer. General comments - house keeping seemed very rushed on most days, coffee capsules were not replaced on 4 occasions during our 13 night stay and cups were not properly cleaned. Bathroom cleaning was shoddy at best, a hair remained on the wall of the bathroom for at least 5 days, indicating a general lack of care when cleaning the rooms. Checked out of the hotel on 5th January - received an email from housekeeping on 8th January stating lost property had not been found and they would check with the laundry company to see if the toys had been accidentally discarded with the laundry....... a bit late I think.…
We had an extremely pleasant stay at the Manly Pacific. They don’t stint on the service staff so there is always someone friendly to help you with whatever you need. The location is superb and the breakfast at the bistro is excellent. The Ink and Water toiletries were sublime and the rooms were fresh and beautifully decorated. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable five star experience.
Somewhat disappointing overall. We had booked some weeks ago to stay over Christmas as our son was getting married in Sydney. Three days before we were due to arrive we had a message that the pool and spa would be closed as their renovations had overrun. When I complained we were upgraded to an ocean view room, which had to be acceptable because at that late stage there would have been nowhere else for us to stay, and of course they would have known that when they told us, hoping we would just go along with it. The refurbishment was clearly ongoing. Lots of bangs and crashes from about 8am every day. Nothing in the way of an apology, but they put a $30 bottle of red wine in our room so I guess that was their way of recognising their failure. On first arrival the room looked fabulous, however we then discovered that there was almost no storage, so for someone staying a few days, it was impossible to ever unpack. No drawers at all; 4 hangers in the limited hanging space (we asked for more and were given another 10). The two shelves were taken up with items for sale with the minibar or the coffee machine - which you couldn't see to operate as it was in a deep shelf. When I did use it, it didn't work properly anyway. Such a shame to be living in a luxurious room for two weeks but having to use suitcases for basic drawer/shelf storage. The huge shower door opened outwards so the bathroom floor was constantly wet. The safe is at floor level so very difficult to use and see in it. I think the room must have been "designed" rather than actually looked at practically - so much wasted space and useless fittings. I bet no decision maker has ever actually stayed in one for a few days - if they had, they would never have signed off on this design. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable and the view of Manly Beach between the huge fir trees was lovely. The workmen kept leaving the fire doors propped open on all floors. I pointed out to reception that this was illegal and a safety hazard and was told that they had permission from the fire service to do that - which is just garbage, of course. Just lazy workmen, ignoring Health and Safety Rules and the law of their land. I kept kicking the chocks away on our floor - I didn't really want to die in a smoke filled room thanks to some lazy carpenter. But this tells you everything you need to know about how this place is run - for their convenience, not their guests. About halfway through our stay we came back to our room to discover a workman had been in to fit and varnish a step into the bathroom. I couldn't believe it. No warning, just let some random workman into our room with all our stuff laying about and leave it stinking of varnish, impregnating all our clothes. I went ballistic and we got another room - they called it an "upgrade" but the only thing different was the apparent quality of the shower gel and a couple of hooks on the wall. The coffee machine still didn't work properly. Neither did the radio. The pool opened on Christmas Day. They said I'd be the first to know but of course no one actually told me, we found out from other guests. It's OK. A bit spartan with no other facilities around it, not even a shower yet. There was a sign asking guests to shower before entering the water but without a shower no one was going to go to their room to shower first so within two days the pool had an oily sheen to it. Still no spa though and I would suggest that is some months away from completion. The refurbed bar did also open, but as the staff didn't know what they were doing, it should probably have stayed closed for a few more days. They gave us free breakfasts for the last few days of our stay to make up for the issues we'd had during our stay. That was a nice touch, but wholly lacking as a way of making up - a generous discount off the bill would have been a lot more welcome and appropriate. Throughout our stay the staff did their best. They were always pleasant and helpful and did what they could. Unfortunately, the management was either non-existent or incompetent. Reception personnel often didn't know what was going on or weren't telling us. Allowing a workman to actually do work in our room during our stay is simply unforgiveable. I've genuinely never known such incompetent and distant senior management in such a supposedly high quality hotel. The manager I had the dialogue with before we arrived didn't bother to introduce himself to us. They kept up their incompetence to the very end, informing us at checkout that they had, as a gesture, removed the cost of the lunches we'd had in the restaurant from our bill. As we hadn't ever eaten lunch in the restaurant this was a somewhat shallow gesture, but when I pointed that out I just got told, "Well it's been taken off anyway!" Look, the location is magnificent, and I am sure this hotel will be wonderful when it's finished as long as they put some people in charge who know how to run a hotel. But our stay was extremely average, very expensive and should have been better. They are clearly never going to be short of customers because it's Manly Beach, so they won't care much about my 3 star review, but if you are planning a stay in Manly in the next few weeks I would try to look elsewhere, at least until they get their act together. Even when they do, it's an expensive place and there is probably better value down the street. …
This stay was so hyped up for my friends and I. We've been talking about travelling to Manly Pacific since lockdown ended only to be super disappointed once we got there! It definitely is in a fantastic location and is stunning in Reception...but that's sort of it. The hotel doesn't advise you that every facility is closed off due to renovation. No pool, gym, anything...disappointing. The floors are all covered in construction tape and plastic covering as they are still renovating rooms/floors as well... We had drinks at Bistro Manly after dinner in the main strip and all work for Accor and tried to use our Heartist cards only to be turned down (they don't take staff discount - a first for me after years of working for the brand and staying all over Australia). We brushed it off, but I was curious and asked Reception at check out why they didn't take our discounts. We were told that we didn't order beverages and only drinks and therefore it didn't count. Weirdest explanation ever but we ran with it. Since when were multiple cocktails each not beverages!? We asked to store our luggage with Bell Desk to do some more shopping before leaving and they took our bags which was great. However when we came back at 4pm, no one was at Concierge and so we waited at the desk. Reception watched us and three different staff walked past us into the bag room without asking if they could help. It took walking up to Reception who acted as if they hadn't seen us across the lobby in an empty hotel to get our bags back. Honestly, the staff were nice, but not genuine and didn't really seem to want to be there. it was all really odd. Anyway, I'd go back once the renovations are done, but until then? Try the other Accor properties in town.…
This hotel is in process of disruptive renovation. The pool is closed the WiFi is useless in the rooms. No compensation. Breakfast good but expensive. Staff friendly but not fully trained.Bar area also closed. Seafront room comfortable but not well furnished. Location brilliant.Wrote similar review four years ago. Same lack of professional approach.
