What a shame, we were looking forward to time away visiting family and staying in a beautiful location. Unfortunately the beautiful location was the only good thing about the place. Booking in consisted of being given a map with some info including how to call reception for shuttle or any needs. We booked a room in Isolation chosen for it's roominess , king bed with ensuite and "wonderful views of the sunset ". We found a queen bed with a bathroom 3 rooms away with the added features of a dripping shower and smelly toilet! The rest of the accomodation was definitely heritage with dead bottlebrush flowers in 2 vases and a thick layer of dust on the old woodburning stove. The view was non existent, rooms hot and when doors were opened the view was across to another guest's room. We picked up the phone to call for the shuttle only to find 2 phones, one not connected and the other not working! Eventually we phoned reception on our mobile and on arrival there voiced our concerns. We were told it was definitely a king bed, our one at home must be different, yes the phones were in the process of being replaced! No apologies! We left for dinner and asked that our concerns be addressed whilst we were out. When we returned we were moved to a better room ,all at 9.45pm. The staff member couldn't even find the light switch which we eventually located next day. Breakfast next day was another farce. I offered my accor gold card to be told that would be fixed up at check out. The food was depleted and cold and the cereal containers broken according to staff "always playing up". At checkout we were charged full price for breakfast . "Accor card not valid for that restaurant". After I felt that this was the last straw and became visibly upset the charge was negated. All in all a very poor experience, Accor need to lift the training of staff in all areas and make sure that what is advertised is given. I have travelled worldwide and never come across such a disappointing stay which spoilt my idea of a lovely couple of days away. …
Stayed here Friday night had dinner at the boiler house food was average (gnocchi was so salty it was inedible) When we returned to the room the lack of air conditioning made the room unbearable to sleep in when we did get to sleep was woken up by the drunks next door who sat outside and talked till after 1:00am making sleep impossible spoke to them and asked them to keep it down but nothing changed Tried to call reception but dialling the 9 number got nothing surprise surprise Will not ever stay here again what a ripoff Spoilt a weekend away
Those expecting the usual Accor level of quality at this property will be sorely disappointed. In my younger years I stayed at backpackers with better facilities and service than the Q Station. Not recommended. As an Accor Gold member, I contacted the hotel prior and requested a late check out. On checkin I was advised the “latest” check out they will provide is 12 noon. Or as other hotels call it, normal check out time. This aside, check in was inefficient. There was no recognition as an Accor member. A map was provided, with the location of my suite and a pop up sunset bar indicated. I had to prompt for details on bars and restaurants - noting the cafe and restaurant I was advised of are not open in the evening on the night I stayed. There was no offer of a shuttle bus to my accommodation, so walked the 10 mins. Ironically the location of the “Heritage Suite” is in the old Third Class area, quite a distance from the main buildings where the standard rooms are located. And located in a hut that was rebuilt following a fire. The first room I was assigned had not been serviced. Travelling around two months per year, I have never experienced this. On being reallocated, the "Heritage Suite" was lacking in any charm. It faced the rear and there was no outdoor seating. See photos. Visiting friends in Manly for dinner, I returned to the property early evening. There being no air conditioning, I attempted to open the windows - neither the lounge nor bedroom had working window mechanisms. And the door did not have a fly screen. On contacting reception, I was moved then to an Isolation Suite (closer to the harbour, and with working windows). Whilst more pleasant, room cleanliness was an issue - dusty throughout. See photos. Whilst the Isolation Suites share an external lounge hut with stunning views over the harbour, like the other lounges throughout the property there is no glassware, minibar, etc. More surprising given the lack of bar & restaurant on the evening of my stay (a Sunday). Breakfast consisted of a small buffet. Staff were friendly however the quality of food was poor (including the most overcooked inedible hash browns). And for a $30 price tag, I would have expected barista made coffee not an automated machine. Checkout was lacklustre. No enquiry as to how the stay was. I latterly discovered I had left my sunnies in the suite, and whilst I am thankful for the hotel finding them on returning to the property a week later I had a 25 min wait for them to be located and taken to the reception. This was even though a collection time had been arranged so they would be "ready" for me.…
A special place to visit, with a rich history and beautiful nature. I visit often, either walking or cycling there. Staff at the Wharf Precinct are friendly. But the cafe is not stocked well at all and is outdated. No vegetarian or vegan options often and often no gluten free options. I stayed once in the hotel and the breakfast is very basic, and not environmentally conscious. Plastic bottled drinks and plastic tea bags are also still being stocked in their outlets. Considering it is a national park. They should have phased out things like that. It would be great to see more bike racks, seating and shaded areas needed, especially for the 10/15 min walk between the top entrance and the beach/ wharf. More indigenous information would be the right thing to put out there too!
Probably one of the best places to stay at as a family! With a bit of luck with a view, some wildlife visits and weekend live music. The breakfast is good and for the evening the restaurant at the beach (perfect for a morning dive) is also much appreciated. Only the queensize beds could be replaced by something appropriate (size).
The location is the selling point with views across the harbour from some locations and easy access to the North Head National Park, but be prepared. The rooms are in heritage buildings which means that they lack some of the comforts you might expect. Ours had no opening windows and the doors had no flyscreens. There is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan and having to keep the door closed to keep the wildlife out (there is lots of it) led to a very hot room overnight. The hotel campus is spread over a large area and you have to park at reception and take the hotel shuttle to your accommodation block - some of the drivers are too fast, and it can be a bumpy ride. Give the heritage buildings with steps and large campus, its not an ideal location if you have mobility issues. There are limited food/bar options on the campus, especially Mondays and Tuesdays and you have to walk or take the shuttle to some of them. Breakfast buffet is "light weight" and unimaginative, but at least its on site and open every day. Room was very clean with a good maid service and all the staff were friendly.…
Limited to one restaurant-set menu .NO cafe nor bar Private beach crowded with random snot guests Rooms not private -people wandering on corridors can look into rooms TV not working Not recommended probably COVID to blame however don’t offer availability if you can’t offer services -like food
Great place - step back in time! Quirky and quaint rooms. Lots of wildlife wandering round. Lovely private beach. Shuttle buses to get around. Fantastic restaurant down by the beach with great wines and good atmosphere. Look forward to going back again!
I booked just one night on the 11th of Feb 2023 for my wife's birth day. I regret it profoundly. Our habour side queen room was a tiny box with no windows. Heat that night was unbearable, I phoned reception at 3:30 am looking for help and their poor answer about the lack of cooling systems was that since it is a heritage listed building, no aircon units could be installed. However there are aircon systems for lounge rooms and convention roooms. See the pictures. The poor excuse about being heritage building did not help us to have a better night. I do not recomend this poor hotel in summer. It would be a nightmare. Also Expedia offered this room as a 22SQM room with bath-shower, in reality is is a 15SQM room with only shower. Nice beach access in the middle of North head, Manly. Nice Bush walk around it. It is not eco frindly though. The complementary shuttle from reception to the rooms is a buch of diesel vans burning oil the whole day long.…
We selected QStation to recover from our jet lag from Europe… and the advertising described what we wanted Relax. Unwind. Rejuvenate. Feel a million miles from anywhere in our National Park retreat The grounds are gorgeous, reception ok and good shuttle service. We stayed in the cottage called S15… Unfortunately, our stay has been ruined two days in a row by a VERY loud birthday party, then a music festival. We also add people walking up and down the cottage taking away all the calm and relaxation we anticipated We were told that it was within the acceptable rules of the venue. Finally people from that event, actually came inside our cottage and used the toilette! Yeap inside the place… top it up with kids urinating on the wall of the house. Bottom line, DO NOT hire the cottage S15 as it is literally 25m away from the events, crowd, noise etc (other cottages wouldn’t even know there was a party as they are far far away) I so wanted to have a great relaxing unwinding retreat far away from anywhere… simply as advertised…
