It was my 26th birthday. I drove from Indiana to Tennessee, in hopes I had booked a pet friendly room, as it was advertised online on TripAdvisor. I called the hotel to confirm my booking, only for them to tell me that the ad online for the hotel room I booked was in fact NOT pet friendly. I tried to cancel my booking so I could book another room at another hotel, but the gentleman from the hotel was less then helpful. He told me to go online to their super 8 website, after rudely telling me their specific website clearly states no pets even though TripAdvisor said otherwise. I went to their website, but their site didn't recognize my itinerary number. I am now out 100 dollars and will probably never use TripAdvisor again. Expedia never caused me these issues.

Friends recommended BBR for a float that wasn’t too far from home. Made reservations couple days before. We arrived at the location and were advised that the drop off point was down the road. Had to wait a few minutes on the bus ride. The driver was very entertaining on the drive to the drop off for the 5 mile float. Float was great. All the employees were friendly and helpful. Will be back. May kayak the next time on the 8 mile trip. If your looking for a 5 star trip this isn’t it. If you just want to get away for a day in the sun and relax this is perfect.

Came to this river over 15 years ago as a child, this past weekend I had the privilege to bring my two girls to do the same. They are 8 & 10 and rode in their own canoe by themselves for the last 3 miles of the 5 mile ride. IT WAS PERFECT!!! The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make our trip happen, thank you all again for a wonderful weekend and we will most definitely be back!!! With all the technology that hinders kids today, seeing my girls work as a team to make sure their boat went straight was worth EVERY second. Thank you again for some great memories!!!

We rented the Sunset Lodge for our group and it was really nice. Very clean and plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and congregate. The porch was really nice and there is a fire pit and chairs for a bon fire. We floated the river in a larger raft and did the 8 mile float. The bus driver is very entertaining and so much fun. He was very nice and told us jokes. It is a nice weekend getaway just an hour out of Nashville. We tried to book it again recently but the lodge was already booked. We are going to try for an August weekend float and stay at the Sunset Lodge.

Our group of kayakers discovered Buffalo River Resorts when our preferred location was unexpectedly closed this weekend. Having driven over an hour, we turned to google to help us find another drop-off point and shuttle service. We did the 8 mile route — it was gorgeous and we thoroughly enjoyed our time once we were in the water. However, the blonde woman working inside the office when we arrived offered some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced anywhere. From the moment we pulled up, she was overly neurotic, off-putting, and rude. She seemed terribly overwhelmed when another car of 3 river goers (bringing the total number of individuals on-site to 7) pulled up and rushed and snapped at everyone in the vicinity. She offered no explanation of loading/unloading location, landmarks on the river, or a summary of services. Our group regretted our choice from the moment we first interacted with her. The shuttle service driver was great. He was informative and courteous — but beware that the van is completely full of dirt and dust. We had applied sunscreen while waiting on him to arrive and had to wash off in the river and reapply after the short trip. Again, the route is beautiful — but due to the service, we will not be back. I recommend river-goers check our Bones for your drop-in service, shuttle, and route. It’s about $5-10 more expensive but the service is worth it!

We went on a Sunday and it wasn't busy. We filled out the waiver, and paid at the office. Drove over to the parking. Found life vests for our group. Our driver was waiting for us and took us over in a van with a trailer for our raft towed behind. The van didn't have AC, and was covered in graffiti inside--some of it was rated X. Got out at the 5 mile drop. It was a steep bank and if you have trouble with stairs or hiking you would want to avoid this. Got in and the float was so peaceful. We got out a few times to play along. Towards the end, before the resort is an island and has a great place to float down a ways and walk back on shore; the kids had a great time here. We saw turtles all along the way. Saw minnows and crawdads near shore at the island. Several people were swimming around the take out cove; the lady snapped a bit about this was "not a swimming hole" and the beach was over there. We didn't paddle at all and, since we got out at a few spots, we had a nice day for the 5 mile trip. We drove in for the day and didn't camp. The cabins looked nice from the outside. Many of the campsites have nice shade and are right next to the river. The bathhouse seems pretty far away from the sites.

we have a cabin a few miles from the resort. We like to go down the river but need a place to park so we can bring our kayaks back. Never a problem, but it seems they have new help. $10/person to park. so if 5 people in car $50, that is just STUPID. We paid and then when we were picking up, we were told we couldn't pick up because we were stopping them from doing their job. After paying $20 for 1 vehicle to park in a field. I believe we should be able to stop, load our canoes and kayaks and get out of their way in a few minutes. What a grouch!

Had never Kayaked the Buffalo River so decided to use the Buffalo River Resort as a shuttle service since we had our own kayaks. We called ahead and asked if we needed to do any type of reservation for our shuttle. we was told no, we just had to come, sign waiver, pay the fee and be shuttled. We arrived approximately 9:15-9:30. there was quite a line outside the building that said "office" The first step was stopping and signing the waiver, then getting in line to wait . Wait is what we did for almost 1.5 hours, there was no shade, until you got on the porch of the office and then it was so crowded because everyone was trying to get up there the heat was stifling. When we got near the front we could tell there was only one attendant taking money and the forms. An excuse they used was for the long wait was because they didn't know they would be so busy, come on it was a saturday following a holiday, and people had already had reservations, called ahead and prepaid. they should of had some type of indication how busy they would be. we was then told where to go to be shuttled. We drove down to the shuttle spot. We gave our ticket to the attendant. we was told there was a large group in front of us and they would take up the entire bus and we would have to wait for the next bus. OK no problem. When the next bus arrived it was to shuttle those that elected to tube. So again we was waiting , . waiting . , , waiting . , , waiting we waited for over an hour. There was little shade, the attendant did offer her little tent for us to stand under but there was many others standing there. The bathrooms was up a ways from the parking/waiting area up a hill that was difficult to climb. Our bus finally came and got our kayaks loaded. they were loading them in the back of the bus by stacking them, If i had a kayak that had a seat that wasn't folded down and another kayak had to be stacked on top of mine i would of been highly upset. It was nice to finally be loaded and moving with a breeze coming through the windows. The bus driver (we called him ZZ Top because of his long beard) was quite entertaining, he told jokes & sang - he was the only delightful experience dealing with this company (the attendant with blue hair was nice too and knew everyone was extremely short tempered knowing we had had a long wait). This company needs some help reorganizing to be able to get people through the pay/waiver line. Some people that was standing in that long line had already paid online and was only needing to turn in a waiver. They also need more busses and drivers. The float on the river was nice and a whole different experience. Once the float was over the area we was to come back into was a little dangerous because people was camped along the area was playing in the water. kids/adults were jumping off the bank and swimming in the water. Parents were not paying attention and they were in the way and it is a little difficult for a kayak to paddle against the current to have to wait for children to move so they are not hit. I would enjoy kayaking the buffalo river again but unless this company improves their process I will find someone else to shuttle our kayaks. From the time we arrived until we got our kayaks in the water it was approximately 3 hours.

This was the perfect spot for our family of four to get away for a couple of nights for fall break. Mrs. Carol was so helpful before and during our stay. She is so friendly and happy-we loved working with her! Also, she was very accommodating to others at the resort! The cabin was well equipped and had all we needed for our two nights. The only thing that would have made it better is if the cabins were closer to the river-but there’s the threat of flooding at their beach.
