Having read the previous review about Sunday lunch, I’m not sure we were both in the same place as we had a wonderful lunch. The roast beef was succulent, melted in your mouth served with a rich and tasty gravy. Crispy roast potatoes with lovely fresh seasonal vegetables. The staff were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. As for the desert, wow! A trio of chocolate, what’s not to love. Top marks to the chef.

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed here for five days recently and very much enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the islands in general. This was helped by the excellent weather we had. The hotel is very unique and somewhat quirky, but we really enjoyed it. The room was very comfortable, the food excellent both at breakfast and on the couple of occasions we had lunch and an evening meal. The only minor gripe we had was that there were a couple of late functions on the Friday and Saturday nights, which were a bit noisy, but it did not spoil our stay. Special mention must go to the staff, who could all be named as providing a courteous but unobtrusive and excellent service from reception throughout the hotel. We particularly enjoyed the chats we had with Andrew and Paul who both set us at ease and made our stay enjoyable. We would certainly come back again and hope to do so soon.

Dear Phbatjco, I would like to thank you for your kind comments following your recent experience with us. It's wonderful that you loved exploring Guernsey and the neighbouring islands, especially in the lovely weather we all enjoyed this October. I was delighted to learn that you were impressed with all the aspects of your stay- from our beautiful interiors, your comfortable room and delicious food to the friendly service from our team. It will give me a particular pleasure to compliment Andrew and Paul, who ensured your stay was so enjoyable and relaxing. I am sorry that on weekend you were a bit disturbed with the late events, but I was glad to learn that it did not spoil your experience with us. We cannot wait to welcome you back to our hotel and I will be delighted to personally assist you in arranging your stay with us. Yours sincerely, Gareth Byrne General Manager

Sunday lunch is dire.. we had the misfortune to eat here as a group for Sunday lunch. Ceaser salad starter was lettuce, croutons and cold sliced chicken breast with a pot of gluey sauce on the side. Nothing freshly made. The beef was ok but served with reheated potatoes and thick uniform packet gravy! Bread was stale for most of us. Staff were friendly but untrained. Is it so difficult to suggest we taste the wine first to see if it is corked? This is a fine example of poor Guernsey restaurants who don’t concentrate on the food. Get a decent chef!!

What an absolutely amazing Sunday lunch! We live in guernsey and have had many a good meal but this simply is the best...the staff are amazing (aoife, aimed, Paul and of course the manager Gareth to name a few) but my god....the food! Not sure who the chef was today but that was amazing...currently lying on the couch as I type having eaten enough for the rest of 2021! Thank you so much! Please give it a try...you won't be disappointed!

Great location for a stay in Guernsey, walking distance to the town and harbour. Rooms very comfortable with excellent bathroom and very clean - good room service. However, I would NOT recommend eating dinner in the restaurant, service was appalling the first night we arrived, 1.5 hrs with no food, not even bread basket and when the food arrived it was just about edible, I certainly didn't enjoy my meal - however breakfast the following morning was very good.

Dear Janeyler66, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review your recent experience at The Duke of Richmond Hotel. I was delighted to hear that you found our hotel location convenient for exploring the island, and the rooms comfortable and very clean. I am very sorry that your dinner experience on the first night of your stay was so disappointing. The team we have with us this season is young and training was still ongoing at the time, but we are confident that with time and support they will reach the levels expected of our hotel. We do hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to our hotel next season for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Yours sincerely, Gareth Byrne General Manager
