I can't say enough about the staff. So helpful and attentive. The hotel is a well-located, safe place to stay, but is in desperate need of renovations. All Covid protocols were followed, but not enforced. Free breakfast was tasty and hot. Limited drink selections for nightly reception. A deep cleaning would help... the chandelier in the lobby was covered in cobwebs.
We booked Embassy Suites solely for its location to Downtown. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised by all it had to offer. The friendly, professional staff, in every area couldn’t do enough to enhance our stay. The complimentary breakfast includes cooked to order omelettes. The Managers Reception in the evening was a pleasant social event. The staff we encountered, especially Kristy, Beth, Alex & Earl, are very knowledgeable about things to do & restaurants. We highly recommended this hotel.
Took a little family vacation to see historic Charleston, SC. This hotel is in a great location to see everything. The staff were amazing, helpful, attentive. Even during COVID they do a quick breakfast that is decent. I know the history of the hotel and it is cool, but this building needs some renovations. It is time for upgrades and new finishes.
Embassy Suites is perfectly located within walking distance of so many wonderful Historic Charleston sites and restaurants. Customer service is very southern and welcoming. Complimentary breakfast is a plus with the wide range of offerings. The hotel itself is quite a different story. I selected this hotel for the history of the building despite it being an Embassy Suite, a chain that rarely updates its premises. The room was dank, musty smelling, dark and very dated. Carpets were horrible and the sofa bed a spring disaster. So disappointing since the stay at the Old Citadel was part of a Christmas present to my 16 and 18 year old granddaughters. I won't stay at another Embassy Suite.
This property is historic - meaning old. The decor is Embassy Suites typical of the 70's or 80's meaning it has the atrium which everything is laid out around. It's ok and clean but rooms are rather small. However, the service and friendliness of the staff bumped it from average to a 4. Housekeeping refused tip (a first!) saying they were just happy we were here because they have job. Breakfast was hot and was served, but selection was limited but still enough. Most properties still have the grab and go, which leaves a lot to be desired. Parking was reasonable and lowered for valet to be same as self park and was discounted by $10 as well. Close enough to walk to many places as well as the waterfront park/Ft. Sumter monument (island itself is a boat ride and done only once or twice a day so plan ahead).…
