Family stayed recently at this gorgeous house near Roger Williams Park, St. Paul Church, the Edgewood and Rhode Island Yacht Clubs and historic Pawtuxet Village. It is also not far from Downtown Providence. I highly recommend it for beauty, comfort, and friendly service. I was able to join family members for a tasty breakfast several times during their stay and got to enjoy their company in the house’s comfortable and tastefully antique-filled living room. Andrew, the owner was friendly with a good sense of humor.

My husband and I did a quick trip for Rhode Island as a last-minute getaway. We booked this the day before. We ended up getting there unfortunately late for check in(9pm). The mansion was beautiful. And I wanted to explore but it was late at night so we ventured to our room, Scarlett‘s retreat. Not a typical bed-and-breakfast because the code was provided for access and the key was left for access. So it is a private experience coming into the mansion. Of course there are other rooms and common areas. The room was beautiful. It had a fireplace and marble shower. The next morning I want to get up early to explore the mansion. The owner who does not live on premise arrived to create a delicious well displayed breakfast. He spent time with us during the breakfast hour and we bid him (Andy) a farewell after our breakfast. He said we could explore all the rooms in the mansion so we’ve already picked out two rooms that we would like to come back and stay in. Overall the mansion is like a museum. Parking is in the rear. You will be given a code to the mansion. Your keys will be left for you. The owner will show up and cook you a beautiful delucious breakfast with some engaging conversation. We did not have time to venture into town or try any restaurants. We will be back. Andy basically gives you the keys to the mansion. Again not your typical bed and breakfast. I share this so you understand the experience and can appreciate the beauty of a 1905 a mansion. And you can’t beat the price!

I have to say that the house was absolutely beautiful. The furnishings were incredible. Breakfast was good.
When we arrived on a Thursday afternoon It was about 95゚ out. We went to the front door rang the bell but there was no answer. We went around to the back door knocked on the door again no answer. So we sat out front for a little bit then walked around the house again and finally the Housekeeper open the door. She asked us if we were expected? Well we said we do have a reservation At which time she made a phone call and was told by the owner that she could give us a key and show us our room. We were up on the 3rd floor and It was so hot that it took hours to cool the room down . It would have been nice if someone had put the air conditioning on earlier in the day. Remember it was a 95゚ that day. We hung out waiting for the innkeeper as we had some questions about the area and maybe some input on some good restaurants. We never saw him Until breakfast the next morning. Not only did we not see him but we did not see a single soul. So here we were alone in this giant beautiful home feeling like we were in an episode of a scary movie. We did come to find out that another couple did check in around 10 o'clock that night. Once Friday night came and there were other guests around the atmosphere was a little more welcoming. The question of would we go back again? If we did it would have to be on a weekend. I'm not going to say we had a bad time we did have a good time . It just didn't have the warmth of other b&b's that we have visited.
I do have to say the place was beautiful and very clean which makes it inviting. Try it!

I stayed at this bed and breakfast in September of 2022 as a member of a wedding party. I stayed in two different rooms over the two nights we had reserved the place. Both beds were hard as a rock and I woke up with a headache both times. There was broken tile and you could see through the shower wall in the Samuel Priest room. There was mold on the shower curtain, crumbs inside the chairs, and what may possibly be the lumpiest pillows I've ever slept on in my life. Upstairs in the Carrara room, the jacuzzi tub was broken, there were broken tiles and there was a silverfish on my pillow... What I could see, there were probably more that I didnt. I am absolutely disgusted by the cleanliness of this place.
The day before and day of the wedding, the owner was nowhere to be found and had not arranged the tables in the dining room for the reception. I had to spend time out of getting ready to help rearrange the settings because the owner literally showed up for like 5 minutes and couldn't be bothered to do anything we had asked him to do. He did not accommodate any of the requests from the bride and groom and changed up the details last minute when it came to the dinner. He had the poor staff which consisted of two very nice women serving 40 people dinner as fast as they could, when the previous arrangement was to have a buffet style dinner. We had an open bar with a tab of $1000 and this man had the nerve to charge $10 for a glass of wine, a bottle of beer and a can of seltzer, and $6 for a bottle of water. That is pure greed and disgusting that anyone would charge those prices. For someone to charge as much money as they did for this b&b/venue and have it in this condition is absolutely abhorrent. Half the stuff in there was broken and it clearly had not been maintained in quite a long time. The owner should not be in the hospitality business at all! The caretaker and the chef were wonderful, and incredibly friendly and helpful, and they did not deserve to be treated the way they were with the amount of work they were given and not enough help because the owner was too greedy to hire more people. Do yourself a favor and skip this place if you're looking for a wedding venue because he will not make any point to accommodate your needs.

I contemplated posting this review but after speaking to family, friends and business associates I feel it is necessary to document our experience and let everyone decide for themselves if this establishment is for them.
My husband made a reservation for Christmas Eve speaking with whom he assumed was the owner. We arrived to be greeted by a Ring camera as no one was on sight. They promptly responded and gave us the instructions on how to enter the Inn. Once inside we called back to get further instructions on key, room location, etc. At that point we asked what time breakfast would be served the next day, which was Christmas Day, only to be told that the staff would not be preparing breakfast since it was Christmas but to help ourselves to what was in the kitchen.
This is where it starts to go downhill. There was a very personal and inappropriate item in the kitchen which we found a little disturbing. The food in the refrigerator was expired, past the best buy date, and in some instances moldy. We did manage to find English muffins and jam that we could salvage for breakfast. Please note that this is Christmas morning and nothing is open. There were other things that we were disappointed with. The Inn was minimally decorated for the holidays, which was surprising to us, but to each their own. We were hoping for something a little more festive.
When contacting the owner regarding our dissatisfaction we received a very blunt email. One of our complaints was the fact that we were paying the same rate as their standard rate with breakfast. We were not told that he would not be serving breakfast or offered a reduced rate since it would not be provided. I requested a refund and was flat out denied. He said that it was explained to my husband that breakfast would not be served but that is obviously untrue. That is not something that you would forget considering it was Christmas Day. And the fact that a reduced rate was not offered was such a rip off.
When bringing up the personal item in the kitchen I was told, and I quote
"Maybe you were a bit too nosy and if I knew you were going to snoop around our kitchen I would not have allowed you in to our kitchen" .
"Your understanding of this is obviously minimal and downright wrong"
Pretty bizarre for a business to address and insult a patron like this. I wrote the email to Andrew but Richard responded.
As far as the Inn itself, it is a beautiful building but the interior and furnishings need some TLC.

Let me start by saying my husband and I love doing the BnB route. We have stayed in many. I loved this property and the decor is like something you would see in mansions or museums. I was a tad disappointed on check in, calling Andrew, he gave us directions over the phone and what door to go through. We got in house and was instructed to go to kitchen and on the back of one of the doors were the keys to the different rooms. We stayed in the Scarlett Room, very nice however it never felt truly impeccably clean. I was kind of upset to come back late at night and found our room was not made up. I called Andy and he said ohhh you have to request that. How about putting the information in the room so guests can see it. The breakfasts were wonderful the chef Henry did a splendid job. Would we go back there? Probably not as my husband felt it was truly overpriced for what we received. It's kind of a crazy way to run a business.

Thank you Rosemary …..with Covid protocols we are working on not going into rooms while guests are staying with us . With that said we surely will be transitioning to making up a guests bed soon but not just yet . As regards to checking in our check in time is 3-6 pm . After that we offer a self check in . I understand that might have confused you when you arrived after 6 pm . We do hope you might come back in the future . Best Regards

I stayed for 11 days in this wonderful manor which is in a very safe area on the Cranston/Providence line in RI. I had such a hard time deciding which room I wanted as each had their own nuance within a comfortable setting w.some including fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs. I stayed in the 'Colonial' room, but was tempted as well to try the 'Victorian' room. Nice, clean and quiet, spacious rooms, with a lovely living room and dining areas. There is parking on site(free) and a fridge in each room. You are provided with an easy door (access)code and keys that a 10 year old could figure out. The breakfasts were delicious served in a large Victorian style dining room, I will return, wonderful experience and Andrew was a friendly and kind host.

Truly a unique experience. We stayed in the Palladium room which was spacious, comfortable and inviting. Each room of the Manor offers several antiques and historical items to discover. You could spend the whole day in the Manor just looking around. Andrew was a great host and very accommodating. Nice to meet in the morning during breakfast and chat about the history of the place. Definitely worth a visit! Within was our first bed and breakfast experience and will try to come back again next year.

Gorgeous and well maintained house; perfect for a night away or to host any event. I was immediately drawn to the ceiling in the foyer and then the library... and then the next room til I found myself peeking into every room I could. From the painted floors and ornate rugs to the carved ceilings; there is detail absolutely everywhere! Every room in the house deserves a look. As the owner says, this place really should be a museum. Breakfast was delicious, I normally don't care for home fries, but these were done perfectly. I only wish I was hungrier to enjoy more of the homemade meal. The room was elegant and very comfortable. The king size bed was perfect for sprawling in front of the relaxing fireplace and the jacuzzi tub for two was heavenly. Easy to find and onsite parking lot is a big plus.
