We had about 20 people at the manor for an event. We had about 14 people-ish stay overnight. I was a guest of the event and was one of the people who stayed overnight in the Charles Newhall House. The good: The owner seemed nice. I had to ask him for a few things and he was pleasant about it. The fireplaces were beautiful. They for sure warmed the whole house. The manor has a lot of older details that are just stunning. The floors in the dining room are super cool. Also, don't forget to look up at the ceilings, they are also detailed. The experience: I would not hold an event here. The owner was the chef, housekeeper, and server. When we got there he did have an assistant with him and a woman helping him with the rooms...she disappeared about 45 minutes later. The rooms were cold and damp. The thermostats were set to below 50. I changed that pretty quickly to 70. I did check my room for bugs/damage due to past problems in some air bnbs. I found blood in one of the beds. The response was to remove the item and "Weird I haven't booked this room in a while". The drinks for the "bar" were outside. The drinks were left in their original packages and the alcohol was being served by the owner. He would not let us get drinks on our own, I found that odd. We didn't get our dinner until 9 ish and a few guests did not get their food until 10 ish. Most likely because people were getting drinks. At 11 before the dessert could be brought out he disappeared? Nothing was cleaned up either after the event. We came down in the moring to the fruit board from the night before still out. This also seemed odd. The more we looked at our rooms the more we noticed details that were ignored, cobwebs, cracked paint, dust, and dirt. If someone wanted to stay here I would recommend staying in the manor itself and not the house but ideally staying somewhere else altogether, as those rooms had their own issues. I also would not recommend doing an event here. Having the owner as the chef and server was too much, there should have been more staff for this. I will end my review here but there is so much more I could say. I would upload photos but I cannot seem to get it to work.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Manor itself are better than the Charles House.

I stayed for 11 days in this wonderful manor which is in a very safe area on the Cranston/Providence line in RI. I had such a hard time deciding which room I wanted as each had their own nuance within a comfortable setting w.some including fireplaces and jacuzzi tubs. I stayed in the 'Colonial' room, but was tempted as well to try the 'Victorian' room. Nice, clean and quiet, spacious rooms, with a lovely living room and dining areas. There is parking on site(free) and a fridge in each room. You are provided with an easy door (access)code and keys that a 10 year old could figure out. The breakfasts were delicious served in a large Victorian style dining room, I will return, wonderful experience and Andrew was a friendly and kind host.

So I’m a working mom of 2 little rascals & desperately needed a break. I SUPER lucked out finding this place last minute. A quick shot from Boston, right near downtown Providence but I could have easily just stayed here & been extremely content. I happened to be reading a period piece book & doing it in the incredibly decorated rooms was like a passport to another time. It almost felt like staying in a wing of Isabella Stewart Gardner museum. Add a real fire & homemade pancakes in the & this place is just the coziest dream. Only reason it didn’t get 5 stars was because the bed I was in could have used a mattress topper. Otherwise I can’t wait to go back & bring friends.

This was perhaps the most unstable woman I had never met !!! First her stay was not in the Edgewood Manor Inn . I have informed TripAdvisor to this but they have not removed this slanderous review . This woman begged us to let her stay one night in our sister property next door the Charles Newhall House . She did stay in the Elms suite which is a two bedroom suite with a large marble bathroom and beautiful soaking tub . I think her attitude changed when we jokingly responded that we did not have hairdryers in the rooms . I do add jokingly because we did guide her to where the extra hairdryers were. I might add her text at 1130 pm at night was rude and demanding that we needed to run to her at 1130 pm with a hairdryer in hand . Who texts the inn at that hour . I do not believe she had hair in the tub that was not hers and I know for a fact we have no bed bugs in the charles Newhall house where she stayed …..we had people stay in there the night before and several for nights and no reports I might add . We have had numerous guests since her as well stay and no reports . We also have cameras and found her departing the building the next morning therefore disputing her statement that she drove back home at midnight. We did block her from contacting us because her tone was abusive ,aggressive , and threatening . So I am not surprised by her slanderous statements above .

Edgewood Manor was a lovely mansion filled with exquisite treasures. The atmosphere was picturesque. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. Andy, our host, was super friendly and made us feel right at home. The breakfasts were scrumptious and we ate in the stately main dining room filled with gorgeous antique furniture. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to Providence!!
