Detailed Reviews
i will say this if I could spend my pandemic quarantine in any place this might just be it.
My wife and I spent a night in room 13 of The Carriage House. I had high expectations that were either met or surpassed. The Carriage House is just that, a small 3 room restored and renovated carriage house just south of the New Hope Playhouse. Each room has a balcony that faces the playhouse, a small stream with the Delaware River less than 30 feet to the east. There is a water fall that provides the most wonderful background sound for a peaceful chill on the balcony.
My wife and I stayed in room 13 which is the two floor suite. It is pricey but stunning and absolutely worth it. A huge kitchen that could sit about 12 people, with an incredible range and all the cooking utensils and appliances one could need.
The sitting area with the TV is beautiful and right next to the balcony. Open the sliding door and listen to the fall of a water fall provide a beautiful natural soundtrack.
The bedroom upstairs is fantastic. You can watch the river from your bed and again open that balcony for wonderful sound and ambiance.
We sat on the balcony with a glass of wine, our takeout dinner, then our coffee and pastries in the morning, and probably a total of about 5 hours our of our one-night stay.
The location is perfect about a 5minute walk to the bridge to Lambertville and just a few minute walk from tons and I mean tons of restaurants, shops etc.
This place is simply amazing. It is the type of place you just don't want to leave. I will absolutely without question be back.

Overall hotel stay was very nice.
Location was excellent, right in the middle of New Hope downtown and staff was very helpful and friendly.
Bathrooms were fabulously equipped and very spacious. Room not as spacious but well maintained/well stocked and very clean. (We got room 5, the suite which was on the small side.) Would have been great if there had been a balcony but we knew there was not one and there is a nice place to sit by the water on the back of the property which mostly makes up for this.
One disappointment was that there was not coffee service in the morning and our room's coffee maker was broken. (My sister spent over an hour trying to get it to work. Needless to say, she heavily relies on her morning coffee.)
No breakfast service in the hotel restaurant (Stellas) was another disappointment but I think this was more related to it being during COVID times. (As an aside, New Hope in general is really lacking in breakfast restaurants so a trip over the bridge to Lambertville is highly recommended for those who like their morning bacon and eggs.)
Stella's was a very nice dinner option (though pricey.)
Room/elevator card keys worked very well (unlike many other hotels) and security with elevator card keys appreciated though the town is overall quite safe.
To recap, upside:
Clean, well appointed rooms and fabulous bathrooms
Great location
Great staff
Nice restaurant onsite
Secure with well working keycards,
nice TVs, comfortable beds
Downside:
Rooms (suite at least) on small side
No coffee service or breakfast (at least during COVID)
No room balconies

This hotel is lovely and we had a great stay. It's really beautiful, has what I'd describe as a modern farmhouse look, and was immaculately clean. I usually bring Clorox wipes with me to hotels just because I'm like that but I didn't feel the need to use them here. Our room was #9 and overlooked the Delaware River. If you can swing the price of a river view room, I do recommend it.
It's also really centrally located to lots of shops and places to eat. You can walk to get food or walk across the bridge to Lambertville, which has its own small town charm.
The staff also provided few very considerate things, like water bottles that are replenished daily. There are several snacks in the room with a menu of pricing. (Maybe this is normal, not sure, I'd never eaten from a hotel's mini bar before.) They also have umbrellas near the entrance that we were able to make use of one morning while it was drizzling.
I do want to give one HEADS UP to people who are considering staying here for a reason other than attending a wedding: this hotel is a popular wedding venue. The rooms are on the floor above the reception space. This means in the evenings you may hear music/thumping bass from the wedding receptions. The music seemed to stop at 11pm every night, so that must be their hard stop time for wedding receptions. For us, the hotel and its location are nice enough that this didn't really hamper our visit all that much. But like I said, I think people should know before booking in case it's a dealbreaker for some.
My partner wants to add that he found parking to be expensive at $30 a day. I saw one or two other reviews on here which said they couldn't get a parking space. We didn't have an issue though, once we told the valet we were staying there. Maybe we got lucky, not sure.
All in all, we loved the Ghost Light Inn. The photos on their website are accurate—it really is that pretty. This trip was just for myself and my partner and we loved the hotel, the location, and the town of New Hope. I would stay there again for sure and highly recommend it for others. =)

From its location in the heart of New Hope set on the edge of the river there is few locations I could think better. Not only dose it host an excellent restaurant in The Stella , but it’s next door to the theater and at the epicenter of all the attractions and eateries in New Hope.
Once you arrive you’ll find yourself greeted by an extremely professional and welcoming staff. If you are accompanied by your dog you will find that they truly care to make your pup feel at home with complimentary dog beds and treats. The rooms are beyond spacious and beautifully designed . As someone who travels often the design and style are things we notice but what seals the deal is cleanliness. This place dose not mess around the room and whole building is kept amazing. Full fridge and mini bar as-well as snacks .
The shower pressure is often not something you hear about in reviews but no one likes to pay to relax and vacation and have to sit under a poor excuse for a shower. Our room not only overlooked the river but had a double sink desk ample space to relax and the bed of course seals the deal.
The staff is something I can’t talk well on enough . They were amazing people who truly want you to have the best possible time . To the team I say thank you because without y’all this place would be a beautiful building but it would not be as warm as it was made for our stay .

My finance and I have stayed here four times since 2020. It was always a positive experience until the last stay. I contracted Covid-19 and had to postpone a trip and reschedule our stay. Which they did accommodate us. However when we arrived we were hit with and added cost, because their prices went up $50. per night. The one night was previously paid for in the spring. On all our previous stays we would receive a discount, not this time.
Parking is suppose to be reserved, however if they have a big event their. You can be sure to lose your spot to the valet that rest assured us that we would be able to park in the reserved location inwhich a cone was placed. gave the valet guy a tip. Upon our return to the Ghostlight, our spot was gone. We were annoyed at this being that we were told at the front desk to check with the valet to reserve our spot. The front desk manager,or whoever he was, was rude to my finance and walked away from her.
This isn't the type of treatment that we expected from such an upscale inn. But then again your just another number.

My wife and I got married on a farm near New Hope and I wanted us to have a great place to stay for our first night as husband and wife. We were absolutely blown away by the accommodations at Ghost Light - the room was gorgeous, and to come from a (very small, but still a whirlwind) outdoor wedding to a quiet night overlooking the Delaware River was just perfect.
I almost immediately looked to extend our stay, but my wife - sadly - reminded me that we had to be back at work on Monday.
Truly a gem, and as someone who travels on business quite a lot and stays in tons of hotels, I can say this place is a tremendous accomplishment. I cannot wait to stay here again.

I have been visiting New Hope sporadicly for about 45 years and while I always appreciated the town for it's charm and style, I never felt that I really had the experience that I was looking for...until our last stay at the Carriage House which is an intimate extension of the Ghost Light Inn. The three rooms at the Carriage House all have wonderful balconies that sit along the Aquatong Creek and look out onto the Delaware River and the common areas provide a great place to meet friends before dinner or to just hang out and relax after a day of strolling through the village.
The sunrise over the river is spectacular and the sound of the waterfall right outside your door is a great way to drift back to sleep.
The rooms are great, the staff is personable and accommodating, the location couldn't be better to stroll through such an iconic town that hasn't changed much in the decades that have gone by since my first visit.
We can't wait to go back, and by the way...they are also pet friendly which sealed the deal for us.

We stayed for one night for a quick, summer get-away and so glad we did. Perfectly located on the banks of the Delaware, this lovely gem of a hotel is ideally situated. Valet parking is offered which is important in a tiny town swollen with weekenders. The building is contemporary, clean and airy. The staff at the lobby (in our case, the El) couldn't be more welcoming. We don't have a dog, but the little jar of dog treats will be sure to tickle those who do. Adorable! This place has a dozen rooms. Ours had views of the river. The rooms is comfy, you don't want to leave. In room amenities are plenty and creative. The bathroom is roomy, and thoughtfully designed to allow 2 guests ample space. You get a fabulous nights sleep here. Quiet surroundings, comfy bed, lovely view. Make sure to reserve a table at Stella. The food is gorgeous, and the service is flawless. Have a stroll near the river, or sip cocktails on the Adirondack chairs. A serene place, that will draw us back without a doubt.

Lulu, Ashley, Elle and Mark are hands down the best part of coming to Ghost Light. They make each stay special and after visiting frequently over the last year, I count them as friends. From prioritizing my reservations, to warm personal welcomes and special in-room touches, they make me want to return again and again. My river view room is always immaculate and I love having an option for dining and drinks only steps away at Stella. This small boutique hotel will always be my #1 choice in New Hope. Thank you for a luxury experience every time!

We just needed a place to stay for one night that allows pets as we traveled through PA. The location of Ghost Light Inn is right on the river and nestled in the middle of New Hope, the cutest town ever. The Inn is really beautiful and clean, the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful and they left dog beds, bowls and treats for our two dogs! We stayed in the room for dinner and ordered food from the restaurant, Stella, and it was amazing, we truly enjoyed everything we ordered, their starter salads are incredible.
Staff at the hotel told us about the walking trail along the canal which we enjoyed a long stroll on in the morning, I highly recommend this.
Would love to come back and try their Carriage house property around the corner too!
