Stayed here on Saturday night - attending the Midnight Oil Concert in the Hunter Valley with a few friends (24 in total). The staff (Reception and Night Manager) were really helpful and friendly. The Hunter Valley Hotel Academy is located in Kurri Kurri, approx. 20 to 30mins from the Hunter Valley. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of my room and clean - comfortable king size bed, modern bathroom. Couldn't fault the place! Our large group were place together in a large building complex which had a common area where we could socialise before and after the concert. It's not a 4 or 5 star accommodation, but I would definitely stay here again.
This place is awful if your intention is to sleep during your stay as the isolation of the rooms is non-existing. We even had to buy our own toilet paper as non was provided. Also, it is far away from basically everything interesting in the area.
I went last night 25th May, with a group for the apprentice chef's dinner, all the waitresses were very friendly, and everyone enjoyed their 3 course "Restaurant Quality" meal, which only cost $25 person, at the end of the evening the head chef paraded the apprentice chefs who finish their course in 2 weeks at the front of restaurant, all of the customers applauded loudly, (so they must have enjoyed their meal and service as well )
If you are looking for Place that is comfortable and clean for a short overnight stay this is a good option. The rooms aren't overly huge and when you pull up look like a dorm complex. It is though only a place to sleep and the beds where good and the rooms where clean. Just a warning though the walls are a little thin.
Stayed here after A Day On The Green. Great experience from the outset. Ladies at reception were very warm and welcoming. Room itself had a king size bed, tv and a great sized bathroom, and a fantastic big shower! Room itself is small, but for a bed for the night it was perfect. Very clean and tidy. Would definitely stay again if we are back this way.
A wedding in the Hunter Valley which coincided with a major event nearby meant that we ended up staying here instead of closer to the wedding venue. It was probably a blessing in disguise as we got a good rate and got to try something a little different! On driving in we were greeted by 3 kangaroos bounding across the road. The accommodation block looked very dorm like from the outside, but inside the room was very similar to a standard hotel. Large bathroom (no bath though) and firm mattress. We didn't hear much noise, being tucked in a corner in Room 7, but those closer to the centre of the block might get more noise. We were an easy 30 minutes' drive away from the wedding venue in the vineyards, and very close to the Hunter Expressway for the drive home ( so close in fact that Google Maps told us that we were at the TAFE when we were still on the Expressway - put in Hunter Valley Hotel Academy rather than the TAFE for more accurate directions!)…
When I arrived I thought what an odd place but it's part of the Tafe campus so looked like a school dorm on the outside but inside the rooms were really quite nice. Modern little rooms with a huge bathroom. Lots of parking space and if your staying here would reccomended having a vehicle as its alittle away from town but a short drive no hassle with a car. Staff very helpful
The walls are paper thin and are like dormitory rooms. I wanted to leave at 11pm because I could hear every word of the next rooms conversation. When we arrived there were teens and empty alcohol cans everywhere upon entry to the common area. We Paid $165 for a room worth $40
A surprise on the outskirts of Kurri Kurri NSW. Excellent accommodation & staff were amazing and nothing was too difficult for them to do. We stayed 4 nights, attended a wedding there & another family function a few days later. The grounds are amazing & would suite a young family with energetic children as there is lots of space to run around in without disturbing too many people. The location great if you want to be centrally located between Newcastle & Hunter Vineyard region.
My boyfriend and i stayed here and were very impressed. Not hard to find very good size room and very clean. So easy. We had a very good price for the long weekend and so easy to deal with! Only thing was bit out of the way but with a car is fine! Loved it!
