The Rashleigh Arms was built in 1851 on the foundations of old clay cellars and was given its name after the creator of Charlestown Harbour, formerly West Polmear, Charles Rashleigh. It also boasts probably one of the only Grade II listed car parks in the country, basically the site of old coal storage yards, and is situated in a World Heritage Site. The Rashleigh is ideally positioned in central Cornwall and provides an excellent jump off point for lots of great attractions with the world famous Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan within five miles radius. We are also within sight of the historic Tall Ships and Charlestown harbour, a world heritage site and an attraction in itself. The Pub has moved with times and although over 150 years old boasts eight four star gold rated rooms, a public bar, popular with the locals that shows all live sport and has great bands every fortnight. Our lounge bar is fantastic for relaxing in with large leather sofas and armchairs with a touch of historic Charlestown. The restaurant is modern, open plan and serves locally sourced food from 12 - 9pm every day; and if the weather's good our patio and garden is the ideal place to spend a few hours or more!

I went for Sunday lunch. £16 a head, 50p per extra which we weren’t advised about. You would think they were serving from a ration book given the thinnest meat I have ever been served. I asked for extras from the manager and then a waiter as not to our knowledge, we were charged for. I raised the issue after we finished our meal after asking a couple times during our food. I asked for a meal to be removed from the bill as it was less than average to then be told he was only willing to remove 2 drinks. I wouldn’t return for food here again. It is clearly only looking out for tourist trade. Only eat here if you have a tiny stomach and a large purse. 2 stars only because the girl serving our drinks was really polite and lovely

Stayed at Rashleigh Arms for one night, wish we were able to stay more, the room was very clean and cosy, food was excellent, specially the breakfast, the staff was lovely, specially Kim, who was really on the ball with the Gluten Free diet, which not a lot of hotels are, it really was a lovely break for us, lovely location, and a good parking area, straight outside the hotel. Would highly recommended to anybody. Thank you.

Me,my daughter and sister stayed here for 5 days and we loved every minute. The rooms were lovely clean and spacious and we all felt very comfortable there, the staff are amazing and would do anything for you, we had breakfast and dinner there and there was always a good variety. It’s in a great location with Charlestown harbour less than 5 minutes away, There is a couple of small beaches at the end of the road which are clean with fantastic views and there’s lots of pubs, restaurants and a few shops. There is also a good bus service going to different places in the area. We can’t wait to go back again hopefully next year so would definitely recommend

Great rooms lovely breakfast and really polite and helpful staff. We stayed in the family room of the town house which was immaculately presented spacious and well appointed with a large bathroom king size bed and sofa bed with a second tv over the sofa bed which our daughter loved. We had a great overnight stay and they even looked after our bags while we visited the shipwreck museum.

Went to the Rashleigh Arms for Sunday lunch after a recommendation from friends. Can honestly say it didn’t disappoint. Food was superb, probably the best Sunday lunch in a pub I’ve ever eaten. The hospitality of the staff was second to none. Will definitely be paying a visit when next in Cornwall.

Although the room was very nice my view was the A/C unit. This was also really noisey until midnight. Food is very good and the breakfast is great at this hotel. The staff at the Rashleigh Arms were friendly and very helpful.

We visited Charlestown in July 2022 and stayed in the T’Gallants Georgian Townhouse, which is now part of the Rashleigh Arms. We booked a Harbour View twin room, which was located on the first floor. The photos on the website looked lovely, but the reality was very disappointing. We were in room 4, which was far too small, a clue of just how small the room was, is that it doesn’t even have a normal size door into the shower room, it needs a split door. I tried to photograph the room but it was too small to get the right angle. The bed was rather soft but ok, the view wasn’t anything impressive due to a large tree right in front of the building, but I appreciate this can’t always be helped, but it did block the ‘Harbour View’ nonetheless. The lower sash was painted shut, so we could only open the top, which didn’t let much of a breeze through in the height of a very hot summer. Thankfully I had taken a fan, as one wasn’t provided. The shower room was the worse part. Picture a converted wardrobe and you won’t be far off. When sat on the toilet with little lift, my elbows touched both walls. The room was so small you could barely turn around. The shower was old fashioned and tiny, banging elbows on the sides constantly, the basin and taps tired and dated, the door handle was hanging off. To make matters worse, there’s a warning sign to keep the door to the shower room closed when having a shower, so as not to set off the smoke alarms. I don’t suffer from claustrophobia, but this was enough to trigger anyone. In the intense heat of the summer we had to keep the wardrobe doors, sorry shower room doors closed, with no air conditioning, no windows and no air circulating, which was like having your own Turkish sauna and completely unbearable. Another family member was in room 9, one of the ‘Deluxe Harbour’ rooms on the ground floor below, which was 10 times better. It was modernised with a new larger bathroom installed. The rooms reach from the front to the back of the building and were lovely and spacious, with a sofa bed as well. However, their front sash window was completely painted shut. This is not acceptable at any time of year, let alone 30 degree heat. So if staying, I would recommend Deluxe Harbour rooms 9 & 10 on the ground floor, whereas the first and second floor rooms are far too small. These two floors desperately need to be knocked through to reflect the layout of the ground floor, to make these rooms more acceptable for guests to stay in. We paid £505 for our Harbour Twin for 3 nights B&B and the quality of the room, certainly did not command the price. I got the feeling St Austell Brewery are trying to squeeze as many guests in to tiny dated rooms for optimum revenue, instead of investing in a complete modernisation of the property, reducing the number of rooms and increasing their size, to make stays much more pleasant and enjoyable for guests. Their website states: Room highlights Vi-Spring King or Twin Bed Smart En-Suite Shower Room Luxury Toiletries Well, the shower room was dated and tired, there was nothing ‘smart’ about it and not a luxury toiletry in sight. We had an ‘all in one’ hand, hair and body wash in the shower cubicle! Surely this is breaching advertising standards? To confirm I did not complain at the time, as I’d checked with staff and the second Harbour Deluxe room was fully booked, so we couldn’t have been moved anyway. When I returned the room key, I was ready for the member of staff to ask if everything was okay and if I enjoyed the stay, but she didn’t even care, she just said thanks and turned and walked off. Plus sides to the stay were: Breakfast was superb, a lovely spread of pastries, cereals and fresh fruit, followed by a choice from the cooked breakfast menu. The breakfast waiting staff were welcoming and friendly and the cleaning staff were lovely. The garden out the front of T’Gallants was pleasant to sit in and watch the world go by. However, the room completely ruined our stay, it was utterly miserable using the shower room and I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone in it’s current state. Come on St Austell Brewery you can do better than this, you can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Invest in this property properly and stop papering over the cracks.

Service from the team at Rashleigh was very good.Friendly staff ,always ready to help. My room was large ,airy and very clean, with a view of harbour. It was quiet overnight although it was August, as it was in separate building to the pub. The location is right in the centre of Charlestown and you walk out of front door and have the harbour across the road. Breakfast choices were excellent and as a single guest I felt very comfortable.

Great place to stay. The food was tasty, varied choice for breakfast and they were happy to wrap a takeaway when we had to leave early. Charlestown is a great place. Lots of choice of eateries, a few shops and near loads of places to visit.
