Booked this on booking.com for a short trip away, the reviews seemed positive and the price was fair. On arrival we were greeted by an extremely nice guy who was actually very professional. On inspection of the room it was clean just a tad basic, but for the money we couldn't expect the Ritz. It all started to go a bit wrong when we realised just how thin the walls are and that when the guy in the neighbouring room went to the toilet we could hear absolutely everything from the splash to the wipe and all of the straining in-between. This was accompanied very sadly buy an extremely noisy road where you can hear absolutely EVERYTHING! And a symphony of banging doors that goes on all night. The doors to all of the rooms are for some reason on a spring so they close with such force it bangs and rattles every single door on the floor, it not good for those with a nervous disposition, as it makes you jump thinking someone is coming into your room. Very sadly at around 2am and with no sleep whatsoever we gave up and decided it would be more peaceful to drive the 5 hour journey home. However for my £100 I got to hear a conversation between the guy and his gf in room 9 which did actually cheer me up a tad....dream on mate it's no way 12inches on the flop! I would really advise anyone that actually fancies some kip stay away from this hotel! Regards…
Lovely 19 room hotel, with great food and friendly efficient staff! A special mention to Andrew, who has excellent local knowledge and a “nothing is too much trouble “ attitude! The hotel is convenient for discovering Cornwall.
We stayed here over a long weekend and could not have been more welcome. Room was a good size and was very quiet. St Austell itself is a bit run down but this gem is a great base to see the area We did not intend to eat in as not always keen on hotel food but after our experience of our first night ate there every night. Big thank you to all the friendly staff.
I'm not prone to hyperbole, but last weekend I played at a concert (a private function) at the White Hart, and the staff were terrific. The historic building has some slightly awkward doors and steps, and I was manoeuvring a harp in and out. The staff could not have been more helpful. I didn't have a meal or sleep over so I can't comment on those things, but the bar was smart and comfortable and the service was excellent.
What a lovely find. Great staff, very helpful, even found me a bag for my shopping. Stayed for two nights and had breakfasts. The pancakes with fruit was soooo good, I had it twice! Bed was very comfortable, bathroom and room clean. Nice fluffy towels, hairdryer, iron, kettle, tea/coffee all in room. Had lunch and one evening meal, both nicely cooked presented. Good location for Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey etc. I would definitely stay here again.
