Spacious room. They have a happy hour for cocktails. Nice to sit by the fire with a drink. Menu is quite good especialy the duck pizza). Breakfast is excellent. The only improvement might be a grab rail when climbing into the shower over a bath.

Our late arrival at The Cornwall Hotel & Spa was marred by a lack of outside lighting, falling short of the expected standard for a 4-star establishment. The reception experience was underwhelming; the staff, particularly the lady at the front desk, seemed disinterested and failed to inquire about our well-being after a long journey. While the room was spacious, cleanliness didn't meet expectations, and the absence of any view, only a roof, left much to be desired. Brown water issues in the bath raised concerns about maintenance practices. Additionally, the incongruity of a small TV in such a sizable room was notable. Although the breakfast offered a good selection, the staff's lack of enthusiasm detracted from the overall experience. The advertised spa, with limited evening hours, proved impractical, leaving us questioning its inclusion in their offerings. Regrettably, this experience has deterred us from considering The Cornwall Hotel & Spa for future stays.

We have been staying at the cornwall every year for the past 5 years & it has unfortunately gone down hill. Bathroom ceiling covered in mould, bits falling off bath, lights missing, dirty walls. Wifi was terrible also. One plus remains the staff, who are lovely and helpful. Don't think we shall be back next year

Unexpectedly dirty for a 4 star hotel. there were stains on the floor, blood stains on the bed, yellow marks on the bathroom walls and even woke up to a maggot in the bed! the staff were lovely and the facilities/spa were nice but you just can’t ignore the dirtiness.

We made a last-minute booking and arrived late. The room was okay, but the size and TV were disappointing. We faced issues with hot water - brown water initially in the bath, and an uncomfortable noise during the shower. Breakfast was good, though staff could be friendlier. Reception service fell short of expectations for a 4-star hotel. Overall, not our preferred place, and we won't stay again.

We had a voucher to use by November 2023 so decided to go Dinner/ bed & breakfast. Had to add £80 to the voucher for evening meal. The reception staff upon arrival were great. Our room was ready as soon as we got there. It was huge cannot fault anything in it. Went to the Spa and that was great really warm. The evening meal well…we had 3 courses with our booking. The staff were not very attentive. The choices especially on the starters was limited if you didn’t like seafood. My fiancée had the carvery as it looked good from what we had seen others bringing back to the table. My main course came out and she had to ask could she get her carvery. Bit poor as I could have eaten mine before she returned! When she did return there was issues at the carvery , having to use the same serving spoon for everything and the chef serving not being helpful. She returned to the table and found her meal cold. Mentioned it to the member of staff when you could get their attention, they offered a complimentary drink from the bar …we still had half a bottle of wine left! At no time did a manager come to see us . Also observed other patrons were also waiting ages to be served , very poor service. In the morning went for breakfast and the waitress ask if we had any allergies which was more than what was asked from our evening meal! Breakfast was okay. When we went pay at reception the staff again were very good . Explained the issues from the night before and they deducted £17 . They said they would pass our concerns onto the duty restaurant manager that was on the previous night and make sure she would email or call us but she was not back to work till the Wednesday.( we left Monday morning) I said I would not write a review till she had contacted us …..Have not heard from anyone it’s now been two weeks! Very disappointed with the evening meal ….not what we expected from a four star.

Had an excellent stay at the Cornwall Hotel and Spa, staying in a lodge with my family. We were a little unsure what to expect, but the lodge was well appointed (if in need of a little redecorating) and the hotel has great facilities which we took full advantage of. The spa and pool were nice and we swam, did yoga and Pilates and even had a massage. The hotel restaurant was ok but not massively impressive, so I definitely wouldn’t go all inclusive. The nature walk and tennis courts could be amazing with a bit of investment, as the whole site is really crying out for a bit of TLC. However for the price it was incredibly good value and I would still recommend.

The room we had was very spacious, the bathroom was clean and everything to do with the room was really good. We visited in October half term, the corridor we were on was being repainted and there was a very strong smell of paint all day. This didn't filter into the room so wasnt much of an inconvenience. We stayed for 3 nights - we ate in the bar the first night. The chair my wife sat on was soaking wet and we were able to change it. My wife had the fish and chips unfortunately the chips were disgusting and inedible. The manager did apologised but didn't reduce the bill. I had the burger with chips - my chips were different so no issues there. The burger was advertised as coming in a brioche bun which it didn't. We didn't eat in the bar again but did eat in the restaurant on our last night which was much better. It's a shame we had such a bad experience on the first night as it did put us off eating in the hotel in the evenings. The hot food at breakfast was very good, the "continental" element was limited with the fruit coming from a tin in the main with some slices of melon and watermelon. So much more could be done here with a but of effort. The spa was clean and not to busy. The pool could be a degree or 2 warmer however i guess this is how it is to save on energy costs. On this point the car park is a walk away from the hotel, when coming back in the evenings in the dark it would be nice if the hotel could switch some lights on to help guide their customers safely through the path and steps as they do get slippery when wet, this may also be a cost saving but one that they should consider changing. All in all a nice hotel that feels like they are cost cutting in certain areas.

We went for a cream tea, using a gift voucher present. (we live locally) On arrival the young lady was lovely, we had booked and arrived early but we were seated promptly. The drinks were very good. The scones were lovely but we were given some sweet coconut (vegan) substitute instead of the advertised cream cheese with the savory scones with an equally sweet chutney. (just salted butter would have been nicer if we'd been asked.) We weren't asked if everything was OK, so didn't feel able say. The waiter just said I've been told by the chef it's coconut cream instead of cream cheese, (so I assume they'd ran out) The young receptionist didn't acknowledge us on the way out or make eye contact (which I'd expect). Just a few adjustments could make it a really amazing experience.
