#2 of 2 in Mullion
Travelers' Choice
Perched on the cliffs on the Lizard Peninsula, amongst 12 acres of mature Cornish gardens, this contemporary seaside hotel offers stunning views across Mounts Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and has its own beach – Polurrian Cove. The communal areas have a relaxed welcoming feel, whilst the bedrooms are homely with fluffy towels, feather bedding and comfy beds. The restaurant menus feature dishes inspired by the rustic and bold flavours of the Mediterranean, and use the finest local Cornish ingredients, with many dishes being cooked in a wood fired oven. There’s a range of facilities to make a stay enjoyable, including two swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts and a spa offering pampering treatments.

We didn’t stay at the hotel but went for lunch as we are locals. Upon arrival the restaurant space looked stunning with sweeping views of the sea. However, we were then shown to a table that are silly small round tables for two pushed together (we were 5) the fabric covered chairs were absolutely disgusting, covered in grease and food stains! It took two hours for our food to arrive-but one persons arrived 15 minutes before the rest and only half of what she ordered! Then when the rest of our food arrived we weren’t given any cutlery until flagging down a wait staff. This could be an absolutely lovely restaurant with the right decor and management but sadly it was an experience that left a bad taste.

We have just come back from this hotel . Although the staff and the location were wonderful , we came back very disappointed. Scaffolding outside our bedroom, drilling noise, shouting of the workmen made the experience very stressful. The outdoor swimming pool was closed and had been for a while as green algae was around the pool. The room and the food were basic. Prospective clients need to get info if they don’t want to be as disappointed as us.

I won a stay at this hotel for one night and paid to extend it for another night because it looked absolutely lovely! We had the most wonderful stay - this hotel is absolutely wonderful - the views are completely unrivalled, service so incredibly friendly, The restaurant was amazing - our meal was included as part of the competition but we paid for our own drinks, all the food and all the cocktails were wonderful with beautiful sweeping views over the sea. There is a small bay/cove which is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel and is wonderfully quiet and secluded with just the occasional other person or dog walker (we visited during the months when walking a dog on most beaches is allowed!)

What was originally a 4 night stay we turned into a week and even then we did not want to leave. The hotel is situated right on the southwest costal path and the views from the hotel are stunning with amazing walks and beaches to explore, which at this time of year were all dog friendly - perfect as we came away with our 4 month old pup Baloo! Equally we spent hours in the tranquil grounds of the hotel taking in the views from all the little hidden gardens, there was always something new to find from the bug hotel and fairy and gnome gardens …its worth walking down all the little paths to see what you come across. The two man gardening duo do an amazing, seemingly never ending job. The hotel itself has everything you could need for a break away, we used the gym and the entertainment room which has a large TV sofas and pool table. But the best place for us was the vista and seating area outside - again for the views!! The food, yet slightly pricey was good quality and the service was good. Breakfast was lovely every morning. We stayed in 3 different rooms due to us extending our stay and all rooms, yet basic, were clean and well equipped, the value for money on the cost of the rooms reflects this. If you’re spending all of your time in your room in this hotel then you are doing it wrong! Housekeeping did an excellent job of cleaning our rooms everyday, especially as we had a sandy pup in tow! On that note we would like to thank a few staff in particular who made our stay comfortable and enjoyable, so firstly a special thank-you to Sam who served us on most breakfasts and evenings, you are evidently hard-working, efficient and professional, you always asked us about our day and gave great tips on where to explore next with Baloo! Secondly to Ryan and Jax on the bar, to Ryan for making the best cocktails (and pimms) and to Jax for the hot chocolates but to both of you for the chats and laughs! Lastly but not least to Nikki, who ensured that we had everything we could of needed, you are extremely hard working and professional and Baloo couldn’t wait to see you every morning, after flirting with the very accommodating ladies on reception of course. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get away and explore the beautiful Lizard peninsula. Debbie and Kerrim

My partner and I booked in for three nights. Not cheap for B&B only. There is no lift - not mentioned on their website. Staff seemed reluctant to help guests in need to carry suitcases. Restaurant is expensive and of average quality. Many tables are very close together so not conducive to private or intimate conversation. Waiters are quite poor with the exception of the head waiter. Food quantities are not generous yet expensive. Chef refused to de-shell sea food linguine despite my disability - a first for me! Rooms are large but dull, unless you pay extra for a sea view you get a view of the car park only. One bath robe was badly soiled. Breakfast was very good and professionally served in a bespoke manner. 4* but I've no idea how that can be, it gives a false impression. Maybe we were just unlucky. We'll not return; very disappointing.

I can only think the staff are cared for and trusted. Superb service in reception, bar and food, spa and the cleaners I spoke with. My sister and I had the pool, jacussi, massage and cream tea. From the warm towels to the gentle nature of you all, proper job!

Short stay in this lovely hotel. Very dog friendly and seafront room provided everything we needed. Food was good, eating in twice in the evening over looking the cliffs and sea and the same at breakfast. Staff were friendly and were very quick to solve a minor housekeeping issue. Very impressive. Would visit again if in the area.

Overall it was a nice stay. The best feature of the hotel is the location and views. Also a private beach which is very nifty! Lovely grounds. The room was just ok. The carpet was a bit stained. We were in a dog room without a dog but you could see that animals had been there. Not sure why we were put in a dog room. I only found this out by asking if we could bring dogs someday. They said we were “in one of the dog friendly rooms”. The room was spacious with a lovely view. The hotel was quiet which was nice. No problems with breakfasts we ate there but the service for drinks in the lounge was very slow. The chairs in the lounge are stained and ripped. Also had to ask them to clean a table as we couldn’t find a clean one to sit at. I think they are short staffed which also affected our service at dinner. The pool floor was dirty and the jacuzzi was also very dated. Not great pool facilities. You have to book the pool ahead which was kind of weird but fine. Nice to have it to ourselves. The rooms need to be updated. They had great high ceilings but there was chipping of paint in the bathrooms and walls. Furniture was very basic. We loved the towels and towel heater! We also loved the charming staircases. We liked the shampoo and body wash available in the rooms as well. The reception area is very small and shabby. Not a great first impression.
