Big room with a good bed ! Operating hot water for the bath/shower was very difficult ... either very hot or bloody cold ... managed in the end ! However it lacks atmosphere and staff is very young and perhaps bit unexperienced/uninterested.

We recently had our wedding at The Llawnroc. This place with forever have a special place in our hearts. The staff was attentive and nothing was to much trouble. The hotel has recently got new management and a new owner which is just what this hotel needed to help it become the true gem that it is. The rooms was clean, comfortable, spacious and airy. If you don't have a sea view the view from the terrace is beautiful and calming. We spent the end of our wedding evening sat outside on our own whilst watching the moon glisten over the sea it really was magical. The food was out of this world, the service was quick and went without a hitch the staff really do make this place. In the morning we walked down to the beach and had our first stroll as husband and wife it couldn't have been anymore romantic and perfect. Sadly because this hotel has had its challenges with the previous owners/managers it's started getting a negative reputation. I can not fault this hotel and the new management/owners they really do go above and beyond who will truly make your special day their priority.

The hotel is in a great situation - with wonderful sea views and a short walk to a sandy beach where we swam every day. Our room was large with a huge comfortable bed. Good to sink into a hot bath after our bracing sea swims. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there was no evening chef but the bar was open so we had drinks on the magnificent sea facing terrace. There were lots of places to eat nearby. Breakfast was delicious.

one of my most favourite places to stay while on holiday in the Uk. The rooms were fantastic, the view amazing, and the food out of this world. Service exceptional. Will most definately be back to this part of the world

Not worth the money. Mugs and glasses were not refreshed in room. Rubbish was also not cleared. Bed linen not refreshed during a week’s stay. No evening meals as could not recruit a chef only told this a couple of days before we arrived. Arrived back home feeling very ill.

Be very careful when booking this hotel We booked last minute to stay for one night in this hotel. ( £200. No breakfast) But unfortunately I was ill and we had to return home. Unlike the three other hotels we booked which gave us a complete refund this hotel gave us nothing. As they probably rebooked the room this made their profit for one night £400. I explained that we we were old and the money meant a lot to us. They were unbending.

I am very disappointed to have to write this review. The location is fantastic and we had a lovely room with a sea view. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic but some clearly lack experience. But the financial systems put in by the new owner/ or staff inexperience meant we were charged twice for the stay and it took some persistence and time to get a refund. Very poor. We were asked to pay in full when we arrived which is quite unusual in my experience. The food was not brilliant and elements were missing from the dishes but the staff were lovely. When we left we were asked to pay again and I explained to the 2 staff at reception that we had already paid, and one of them had been on duty when we arrived and remembered us. Luckily I knew the name of the person who had taken the payment, and I had a receipt. So we left . I was therefore astonished to get my credit card bill and discover 2 payments had been taken over 2 days for the same full amount. I then had a correspondence with the owner who asked me to produce my credit card bill to show the payments, when surely his systems would show the double payment. Eventually I did receive a refund but sadly I would not stay at this hotel again after this experience

Nice Hotel in a peaceful location. The staff were very freindly and helpful at both reception, bar and breakfast. Our room was comfortable and clean with nice sea views. It could do with some extra lighting by the dressing table. Although currently no dinner available in the evenings this did not effect our trip as we were out travelling around during the day, we did enjoy a drink in the bar in the evening. One of the new managers was very helpful explaining where to go and things to see. Overall a great stay.

Stayed for 4 nights in July and having read some of the recent reviews we were a bit concerned. We were even more concerned when we were contacted to say they had no chef so there would be no dinner service. Having booked to eat in their restaurant for 3 of our 4 nights this was potentially an issue. However, we elected to go and we are glad we did. Firstly, the comments in some reviews that the hotel is not 4 star are unfounded in our opinion. It is a beautiful building and whoever refurbed it has spent a fortune! The public areas are a very high standard as are the rooms. Our room was huge, very well furnished, with a balcony with direct sea view and superb bathroom. Lots and lots of tea and coffee, a safe and a fridge which is a nice touch. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. You really couldn’t ask for a better room! The issues raised in four in a bed last March have all been addressed. Yes it is fair to say that there are a couple of external maintenance issues still to be addressed but the new owner only took over in March and no doubt will attend to these out of season. Secondly, With regards to comments on payment on arrival and pay as you go in the hotel, well this makes for sensible business practice. If you think about it, you pay for your holiday weeks before you go away abroad and running “a tab” has a lot of potential to go wrong for both parties? We personally had no issue at all with paying our balance on arrival and paying for drinks and breakfast as we went, it’s just logical and there are no disputes about your bill at the end of your stay! Thirdly, Staff. All the staff from Jo (the manager) and Lisa on reception to Debs and Kerry at breakfast as well as the barman whose name we forgot to ask are thoroughly charming and very helpful. Yes not having a chef was an inconvenience but they were able to recommend some very nice restaurants locally before we arrived that we were able to get booked into. The staff made us very welcome. The owner though needs to take a leaf out of their book and actually talk to his guests. Just a “good morning” or “are you enjoying your stay?” goes a long way and really isn’t that difficult. He was only there for 2 of the 4 days but comes across as unapproachable which is a shame. Having got the only minor moan out of the way The Llawnroc is definitely 4 star with lovely staff. It has lots of parking (very rare in Cornwall) and it has a terrace to die for along with a fantastic location and views. Yes it’s expensive but definitely worth it! If you are looking for a romantic quiet getaway in Cornwall then we don’t think you will be disappointed. We would go back and hopefully Adrian may say “hello” next time. Thank you to all your staff who were lovely!
