This hotel is in a beautiful location. Our room was spotless and spacious and decor was impressive throughout. Just too many things unfortunately let the place down. The TV in the bar with sky sports was under our room, and the noise could be clearly heard until quite late into the evening. There were no dressing gowns in our room, which resulted in my wife having to follow the receptionist to the linen room to get some. No apology or offer to have them sent up. At dinner I asked how the lamb rump was cooked. ‘I don’t know, i don’t eat steak’ was the reply. One of the waiter’s hair was a magenta crew cut/pony tail combination. I have no personal objection, but do find the lack of staff presentation standards surprising in a restaurant that styles itself as high end. At breakfast I had to ask staff to clear the table before the increasing pile of dirty plates toppled over. I could go on…..I thought I would share some of my feedback with the receptionist as I left, but as I wasn’t asked how my stay had been I didn’t bother. Shame, could all have been so much better.

This hotel is one upon which no expense has been spared, or so it would seem. It is furnished in a contemporary style and is clean and comfortable but , to me , something didn’t feel quite right . I discovered from a local, that the original building served as a pub and it is this element that gave me concern. Whilst I acknowledge local residents would enjoy a pub, it is this element of the hotel that doesn’t work (for me anyway). The bar area, whilst quite chic in a way, also features a pool table and loud music. You cannot get away from the music unless you go outside! We could even hear it in our first floor room until 11.00 pm. My main concern was the standard and quality of the meals. Breakfast was generally ok but on Day 2 the croissants were definitely from Day 1 being leathery and unpleasant. Dinner, a mixed affair. Don’t expect fine dining and don’t get me wrong, some meals were good but most ok however overly salty for my palate. The current menu is somewhat limited probably due to staff shortage, especially skilled chef. Service was good and not so good - younger staff plonking menus down without a word. The staff need a uniform whereas a varied range of black clothing seemed to be the norm. I suppose what I’m saying is that for a hotel aiming high, the staff dress code lets it down. I must sound very particular and indeed I am. I have tried to be positive but fear my review may go against the grain , however, in conclusion I will say this - the Llawnroc wants to be ‘up there’ with other luxury hotels but it doesn’t quite hit the spot. A hotel I would visit again only if I had to.

Our first trip to Cornwall coming from Australia a few days earlier. Llawnroc is a First class hotel only exceeded by the excellent staff. From everyone we encountered not only did we experience true customer focus but great fun as well. (Special mention to Deb who made breakfast a great occasion! ). Management has hired exactly the right people to ensure a fantastic stay. Well done to all the staff.

We had our wedding and reception at the hotel on Saturday and we cannot praise the staff enough. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. Alan and his team went the extra mile and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were luxury and the food top class. We would highly recommend anyone wanting a luxury setting with an intimate setting. Thank you so much for making our day perfect and something we will cherish forever.
