At £55.00 a night we knew the Swan Inn would be basic. However the floor was dirty, unswept. There was no soap/gel in the room (perhaps the landlord isn't worried about faecal contamination? ); I thought this was an oversight but when I went down to the bar to ask I was told it was their policy. I didn't check the bar toilets but let's hope that this bizarre policy doesn't extend to those. The nonsense here is that if they're worried about people running off with their soap an added pound to their rate wouldn't deter people from booking. The outside passage to the room was appalling, see the pictures, rubbish abounded and there were cigarette ends everywhere. On the plus side the staff were cheerful, courteous and helpful and the bed was very comfortable and the linen clean.
Went one Saturday evening for a pint and some food. It was the afternoon of a rugby international and they had just one poor overworked girl behind the bar. I felt sorry for her. As for food I had a chickens an leek pie for £14.50. It was served with a pile of overcooked and tough mash, a bit of gravy (bisto) and some spinach. No seasonal vegetables included. Outrageous prices and I could, and had had better, at the local lWeatgerspoons. I know it’s a hotel, but drop the prices or serve decent food worth what is paid. Disappointing....
Had a take away Rogan Josh curry , it was freshly cooked, good value, and 5 * food , would definitely recommend , best to pre order by phone , you can sit in and eat in restaurant area if you want to.
Avoid this pub at all costs. They have an undesirable clientele, they play music loud at all hours of the day, any day. They have no respect for the local community. Used to be a nice quiet boozer. Not anymore.
We stayed at this pub this weekend. Great room with own bathroom. Friendly welcoming pub located in a beautiful village with everything you need from atm and shops. Great location for thrope park and legoland. Watching the planes so close up was great too. Thanks
