We come to the Red Lion twice a year as part of our travels to our family vacation at the Jersey Shore. It is not just tradition or habit that gets us to stay there. This place is great!! It is a welcome respite from the truly dreadful PA turnpike - at the Red Lion we can unwind in the gorgeous, huge pool (and if it is raining in the indoor pool). We have family fun in the evenings playing ping pong, billiards and the fun game room. We either eat in the welcoming restaurant or have a picnic on the large outdoor patio. Though this is an older (and big) facility it is clean and extremely well-run - the manager, Randy Stuart, has instilled in his staff a “what can we do for our customer” attitude that is apparent from the moment you step into the lobby on arrival. My only wish is that guests (and their children) would treat this lovely facility with the same caring that the staff does! The Red Lion is not just a place to stay - it is a vacation in itself!

Despite the current situation of living, it was important that we try to maintain some normalcy. This is why returning to this hotel - for the 7th year in a row- was never a question on our minds. We were confident in Randy's (the GM) ever efficient manner and over abundance of caution and pride in this hotel. We knew that he would take every precaution to make sure his guest felt welcomed, but also protected. It was clear the rooms were cleaned to perfection, the remote was covered in a plastic bag that was changed between guests and staff that was attentive and always available (and masked). Hand sanitizing stations were available and staff always reminded guests to be masked in common areas, however without being pushy or rude. Plexiglass separated check-in staff from guests and clear social distancing guidelines and measures were established. Despite all of these precautions, however, this really did not feel any different than all of our other stays. Our stay was still friendly and familial, Randy chatted with us as did other staff whom we've interacted with over the years. The pool was attended to and kept clean, there was no overcrowding of personal space and someone was always checking in. It was great to know that some things never change, even in the midst of everything going on around us. We're so happy we chose to go this year and will most definitely be back next year. Great job Randy and Red Lion Staff! It's good to see some things never change!

This is now our 5th straight summer visit to Red Lion in Harrisburg. Manager Randy Stuart will always greet you with respect and sincere enthusiasm while taking care of your needs. He’ll check on every person each day and will have a nice conversation with you, talking about your vacation, your family, kids’ likes, sports, etc.

The hotel is always well maintained with picturesque landscaping. It has pretty bushes, flowers, and trees surrounding the perimeter. When you arrive, you will notice plenty of parking in the front and the sides with wide enough parking spaces. There are plenty of entrances and exits for you to place your car in the vicinity of your room. The hotel is similar to a “U” shape which is part of its charm, rather than a boring look. That gives it a better feel for its large outdoor pool. This pool also has a nice shape to it rather than the old, boring rectangular shape. There are plenty of tables, lounge chairs, umbrellas, towels, and trash receptacles. The indoor pool is always warm and comes in handy if there’s inclement weather, but it’s open during any type of weather throughout the day. There’s an attendant present for the pools as they’re cleaned each evening and morning. The outdoor pool even has music set at a comfortable noise level. Plenty of lights accentuate the hotel along with its outdoor lights on the dividing walls for each room giving it a comfortable feeling. There’s a playground area adjacent to the pool with protective flooring as well as benches. Just an extremely short walk away on the hotel grounds are tennis and basketball courts, as well as shuffleboard. There’s also a hot tub outside near the pool.

The hotel has a gym with TVs. Inside are plenty of areas near the entrances and exits with refreshment machines including water, soda, food items, as well as ice. The lobby is welcoming with a lounge area, a room with a billiards table, ping pong tables, couches surrounding TVs, a computer room, a game room, and a family restaurant.There’s a nice, quaint bar area with plenty of TVs that give you that quiet feel since the TVs are situated in top corners of pillars surrounding the area rather than being loud where you can’t hear.

The rooms are large enough to be comfortable fitting your needs with clean bathrooms and showers. The hallways are well maintained. The front of the hotel has a protective ceiling with plenty of space if you have to unload or load up your vehicle. There’s a ramp to help you with this as well as carts to assist you with your luggage and packages. It also is used for those who need physical assistance.

Finally, the staff is friendly to assist you and there are plenty of precautions taken for everyone’s safety. There are plenty of signs posted as well for these precautions.

The red lion inn it has a marvelous pool. The rooms are very clean you can smell it Covid free and the staff are so friendly especially uncle Randy treats everyone like a family. I would love to come back again.

We stayed here for three nights with our two boys, 4 and 9, and it was great. After reading reviews of the top hotels in the area and discovering that some of the top rated ones’ reviews were vastly different and very negative once the pandemic started, I chose the Red Lion based on multiple reviews from July through Sept 2020 that were very consistently positive. All employees wore masks, and it was very clean. I can’t comment on the food situation in the hotel as we didn’t partake in any meals there, so I don’t know if it was available or not, or to what extent. We had planned on getting take-out and groceries. There was a small fridge in the room. I can say that it was great for the kids. They had a playground area that was open outside, along with tennis court and basketball court. The indoor pool was open until 10p. Plus they had a little arcade, a ping pong table and a pool table available. My only complaint would have been the beds, as one of the queens in the room was pretty broken down, and the other wasn’t in the best condition. I’m not going to ding the hotel though in my rating because I’m fairly certain they could have moved us to a room with better beds since the hotel was pretty much empty, but I never requested it. After unloading everything for our stay, we didn’t feel like moving it all, so I won’t hurt their rating for not having given them a chance to correct the situation. The reason I’m certain they would have corrected it is that the service was incredible the entire stay. We were about most of the days so we pretty much always dealt with Jon, who worked nights. He went absolutely above and beyond to provide us a great experience. One example has to do with the washers and dryers that are located in each of the women’s and men’s locker rooms. There’s a new system where you can download an app and load it with money, and the app will control each washer /dryer. It will also tell you how much time remains. I’m fairly “app savvy” but my wife isn’t, so when she asked Jon about it, he went down with her and downloaded the app on his own phone first and tested it all out for her to make sure it would work, and even paid for the first wash cycle. After that, I was able to download it and continue from there, but we were very appreciative of the time he took to make sure we were able to do laundry. There were many more examples during our stay of him going out of his way to help us out, so I wanted to make sure to give him a shout out for his excellent service. Thank you Jon!
I definitely recommend this hotel. It’s an older hotel, but it’s clean and very well run and perfect if you have kids. It suited all our needs.

PA Virtual Charter School used the Red Lion Hotel as a clean, comfortable space that would help us uphold covid related guidelines for in person education and accommodate the amount of conference rooms needed for testing. The space was immaculate! The staff were incredibly helpful. The meeting rooms were comfortable and the lobby accommodated the volume of students with required social distancing. I wish I could have stayed overnight because there was a beautiful pool, gym, and playground.

We run group tours to this property and our guests really like the rooms and quality service received there. GM Randy Stuart does a great job having the staff prepared to handle the volume we bring. Right now I am speaking with them about possible concerns on how best to bring people back in this environment. I feel confident that they are taking all the needed steps to assure the safety and well being of any travelers going to this property.

Great proximity to Hershey and the nearby activities!! Many resturant options are close along with a couple breweries. The staff at the Red Lion were very friendly and helpful. My family loved the amenities which include an outdoor playground, indoor pool, outdoor pool, outdoor hot tub, arcade, and ping pong tables. So that being said the reason I gave this hotel a 3 is because the place needs a serious facelift so if aesthetics don't bother you then I recommend it. The wallpaper was literally peeling off the wall in places and tacked back up, the doors had huge chipped paint spots that were awfully painted over...Our door in particular wouldn't close all the way on its own and we had to make sure we heard the lock click when we closed it by pulling it shut. It smelled like an old Las Vegas hotel casino. The bed frames seemed to be new with cool reading lights installed. The rest of the furniture was beaten up with swollen water marks in places on the table. There was no vent in the bathroom which I thought was very odd. The indoor pool was heavily chlorinated which I can understand to a degree but it was potent. So compliment sandwich time.... We did enjoy our stay and the staff was great whenever we needed extra towels or shampoos etc. They do not clean or turndown your room anymore due to COVID which is fine by me but you had to put your trash in the hall and it was a little unsightly to see bags of trash sitting in the hall as you walked to and from your room. So recommendations for you I would look around a bit but honestly the price was right, it was close to activites, it had decent amenities, and a great staff.

Dear 95AM, Thank you for offering us feedback of your recent stay. Reopening post pandemic has been extremely exciting to our team and our valued guests. Plans to make cosmetic improvements were scheduled prior COVID. The significant loss in revenue caused a pause in any upgrades. We were able to purchase some TVs, PTAC units, desk chairs and sleeper sofas. We regret to learn the removal trash from the hallways in a timely manner was not evident during your visit. Sweeping the hallways frequently is the standard and will be discussed in a manner that will improve going forward. Our family has been confidently booking our yearly visit to Hershey Park with the Red Lion Hotel In Harrisburg Hershey for the past seven years.
We just returned from a much needed trip after being quarantined like so many for the past few months. It was so reassuring to walk into a clean, sanitized room after a long drive. The beds were comfortable, the staff was courteous and friendly, the indoor and outdoor pools were clean and inviting. Housekeeping was friendly and prompt in room needed requests. The restaurant on premises offered menu options to meet all dietary needs and offered social distancing seating or take out meals. It was impressive to see how well organized and consistent the hotel is handling covid regulations and safety precautions
not only with guests but with all employees. We felt safe and welcomed. I would highly recommend all my friends, family and others to book their next stay here without hesitation. I would like to thank the hotel General Manager, Randy Stuart for going above and beyond. He genuinely wants to make sure everyone enjoys their accommodations. Thank you Randy for the kindness you have shown to my family and taking so much pride in your hotel. We truly feel confident returning each year with the Red Lion under your management and high expectations for guest stays. We are a small Naval group who get together each year in a different location around the USA. This year we chose Harrisburg, and the Red Lion Hotel Harrisburg Hershey was recommended by our event planner. The hotel was centrally located to the places we wanted to vist; Gettysburg Battlefield, Plain & Fancy Amish Experience and Hershey's Chocolate World. The hotel has a convenient airport shuttle which most of our group took advantage of. The building and property are huge and quite nice. We needed a small venue for our group, however, I believe this hotel could accommodate almost any size group. They have many meeting areas, an amphitheater and beautiful grounds including outdoor and indoor swimming pools, hot tub, etc. Although the physical building and grounds are appealing, the real magic is the staff. Everyone from Jon & Mik behind the desk or Hitch who made sure our Hospitality Room was set up perfectly with everything we could or would need; and Lori and the others who took care of our buffet dinner and greeted us with a smile and a good word in the breakfast room each morning deserve a warm thankyou for taking great care of us. I want to especially thank Brenda, the Sales Manager and Randy the General Manager for overseeing our event. I highly recommend this establishment and will be visiting there again.
