One night here before a business appointment the next day. The two bedroom, two bathroom suite we'd booked was acceptable. Not immaculate, but not terribly dirty, either. The location was a bit run-down - as one of our party termed it, "Like an old abandoned mall, fallen from its former glory. If the room had been exceptional, it might have made up for the dodgy location. Adding to the stress the next day was that one of the party got almost NO sleep because of being awakened in the night by sounds from the parking lot below, and looked out the window to see someone being escorted away by police. This process took a while to play out, so by the time they felt it was safe to go back to bed they were wide awake. On the positive side, it's good to know the police were actually called to take care of what was obviously a tense situation. But it made for a sleepless night.…
During our road trip to the east coast, we stayed overnight at the Homewood Suites in Erie. Excellent choice. Our suite, which included a complete kitchenette, was quiet and pleasant. I can see why it was so popular---the hotel was booked with many multi-generational families. Only downside was spotty internet, which became frustrating, but tolerable for one night. The buffet breakfast was one of the best ones we’ve had in similar types of hotels, and we’ve traveled frequently through the years. Large selection of fresh food. First time I’ve enjoyed scrambled eggs and bacon that tasted like it was just prepared.
Our stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Erie was extremely disappointing. The rooms are outdated and require a DEEP cleaning and upgrade. While the service was warm and kind, there are significant staffing shortages. Rooms are only cleaned every 4 days. Breakfast was generous, but only the days when staff showed up to work. My family regularly stayed at this location from 2008-2014. It was once a modern hotel with excellent service, and now, it is depleted. We decided to stay here again as we fondly remembered it excellence… but following our most recent stay, we will not be back.
We recently stayed here twice, it was the halfway point for a summer vacation trip. I generally love Homewood Suites, having stayed in many during my working years. Our first night here was ok-ish. Checkin was very pleasant, desk person kindly gave us a couple of little containers of milk when I realized we’d forgotten to buy some for breakfast. Lobby areas looked clean and new. Room was spacious and clean, though needed a refresh of carpets and cabinets and such. Beds comfy. But the problem, screechy loud air conditioner unit outside the bedroom windows, very little sleep, we weren’t feeling very rested for the next long day of driving. Stay 2, on our return. Our assigned room was right on the highway. I always check in online and select a room away from any highway, that option wasn’t offered. At checkin I asked to switch. Soon realized the AC in the new room was broken. After an hour of sweltering and hoping it would cool down, we asked for another room. I suspect they knew the AC was broken, the bed was rumpled, as if another guest had been there not long before us. Only room left was back on the highway. They really need airport hotel quality windows, it was dreadful, perhaps the 2nd worst hotel stay of my life. So noisy! Very little, if any, sleep. The staff were very pleasant and kind. Though no refund or compensation was offered at checkout. Contacted Homewood Suites corporate account on Twitter, they sent my concerns on to the hotel. Never heard from the hotel. Corporate offered some Hilton points, which I appreciated.…
The Property was Neat and Well Kept, Check in was Fast and Easy. The Staff was Friendly and Helpful. The Room was like an Efficiency Apartment, spacious and well appointed. The Breakfast selection was varied.
I am proud to say We are Hilton Honors Diamond members. We have had wonderful experiences at every Hilton from New York to Frederick, MD to Florida and especially Indiana, PA. As such my husband and I keep our credit card on file which every Hilton except this one can access. When I checked in this evening I was told there was no card on file, and that I needed to have the physical card with me. That was a first. So I asked Gracie at the front desk if my husband who is not traveling with me could verify the card over the phone. No, not possible. All guests must have the physical card. Why was I not informed of that when I made the reservation this afternoon? Incredulous response: People just know they need the card and ID. Did I not have ID either? Question: Why can I perform contactless registration through my Hilton Honors app at other hotels? Response: I could do that here, but digital keys don’t work so I would not be able to get in the room. So much for contactless registration. My husband called the front desk, and was told he could fax a copy of credit card. Waiting a rather long time, but Gracie explained the internet is slow. I told Gracie I found her to be arrogant, smug and condescending and did not appreciate her attitude. Her response proved my point: “We don’t have to have you stay with us because I don’t put up with this. Would you like me to cancel this reservation?” Enough said. She and the woman beside her at the front desk gladly gave me the phone number for Hilton customer service. Oh, and knowing we had a rough day neither woman offered us our 2 complimentary bottles of water. So much for hospitality. Not coming back to this hotel. PS my pillows have no pillowcases, but I don’t want to bother Gracie.…
We recently stayed here on a Saturday night and although there were a few school groups here as well (so the pool area was packed) our top floor room kept the noise level quiet. Room was nice and clean and breakfast was good. Overall and good experience given the fact this Hotel was booked full. Staff at front desk were very friendly.
The Location, quality of the room, great breakfast, the lounge, pool, everything one wants when staying, great place. I highly recommended this Hilton Homewood Suites. If you visit Erie, you should consider this place.
Love coming to Homewood Suites every year. A group of friends come out to Erie, Pa every year for a weekend, (Friday- Sunday) to do our Christmas shopping. The rooms are so accommodating, clean and big. It’s nice to be able to all stay together and eat and chit chat after a day of shopping.
Nice hotel with good rooms, however it is odd that somethings were replaced in the renovation, but not others. For example, the mirror in the bathroom is new and modern, however the shower head and handles are clearly the original. Not a huge deal, just an odd choice. Breakfast is average but eh dining room is nice and modern. All rooms are spacious and well designed, and perfect for a longer stay. Pool is small, and below average, but still better than not having one. If you are a solo stayer, I would recommend looking at the Hilton Garden Inn as that hotel is aimed more toward business customers.
