Very good stay! We arrived for a quick trip out to Portland via TriMet / Light Rail from PDX and it was a quick walk from the station. Hotel was able to provide a room early at around 11am which was very helpful after a long morning of travel. Staff were friendly and detailed in explaining the hotel and you could tell management cares a great deal about guests from the random note about daylight savings.
Titanium / Platinum/ Ambassador Marriott members are reasonably taken care of on property though amenities fall short of other properties in the autograph collection portfolio. In lieu of a lounge we were provided breakfast in the hotel restaurant. That said, the credit offered was only $10 a day on a menu that doesn’t have entrees for that price - let alone an entree / drink / side that’s often provided by the brand. This may seem like a small think but with as much business travel as I do it’s frustrating when I try to access / use a benefit in my time off and have to still pay more out of pocket than if I just went to another restaurant. Not to mention the speed of service was exceptionally slow due to the missing staff.
The hard product itself in the room is quite good though with some extras that help to elevate your stay like better finishes in the bathrooms and an alarm clock with chargers and outlets built in with USB ports. These little thoughtful extras make this a great place to go when you’re spending other people’s money for sure since my only qualm is the lack of a usual breakfast benefit.

We came for my daughter’s participation at the PDX Marathon and the location made it easy to walk to and from the event. Super convenient! The staff offered bottled water on many occasions. We had a super easy check in and check out. Concierge had band- aids handy that my daughter needed recommended close restaurants that both suited our vegan daughter and our more liberal taste buds:-). All the staff we encountered greeted us with a genuine smile and offered help. Excellent experience!

Absolutely 100% would stay again. Ideal downtown location to walk to local attractions (like the Saturday market!). Staff was warm and friendly, hotel was pristine and rooms were comfortable, and the food and drinks were incredible. We really enjoyed the laid back luxury style of the hotel. The gym was also one of the best I’ve used at a Marriott property - really appreciated the variety of equipment and how clean it was. Highly recommend for a family stay, and we brought our dog and he was treated warmly by the staff. All in all an amazing stay, and will definitely be my first choice hotel when I’m back at n Portland.

Wow. The staff at this hotel is amazing! Of course, being the clothes diva that I am, I traveled with too many, per usual. The hot staff were able to provide me with a rack for my longer garments, as well as luggage racks. Because Portland has an abundance of yummy restaurants, the hotel also provided me, when asked, a fridge and microwave to continue enjoying the leftovers. And the pièce de résistance - when I let the front desk staff know I was feeling a little under the weather, they provided me with an Emergen-C packet! And the bar staff got me a glass of OJ! Honestly, the kindest and most thoughtful staff at a hotel I ever encountered! Now planning my next purely fun trip to Portland, thanks to the Hi-Lo!!! Recommend!!!

The property was welcoming. Upon my arrival, they recognized me as a Lifetime Titanium member.
The room is comfortable, I was not afforded an upgrade and had a beautiful view of a parking lot, just keep your shades closed if you don’t want to observe the going on in the middle of the night. 😉
Even with the somewhat sketchy parking lot, I always felt safe coming and going from the property. It’s centrally located with many restaurants in the neighborhood. It also is unique in that it is a block in either direction to one of Portland’s food court parks. I enjoyed great Mediterranean food each night of my stay at Moonlight Mediterranean.
I did not experience the restaurant, but I’m sorry that I missed their Black Pepper Vodka Martini. It looked intriguing. They do offer a “Spirit Hour “ where they have a complementary cocktail in the lobby at 5 PM. Again, I was not able to partake secondary to my allergy to Juniper berries a.k.a. Gin, but again, very welcoming mixologist.
I did have a bit of a miscommunication with a housekeeper. She was perfectly lovely, but I think something was missed in our communication. I had a very pleasant conversation with the general manager, who help me understand the foundation of the miscommunication. Completely resolved to my satisfaction.
As with most properties in the Autograph Collection, this property is unique in a one-of-a-kind historical building, and I might almost use the word bohemian to describe it.

Booked via Marriot for 119$ a night for a week (ended up being 8 nights given my flight got cancelled and was forced to leave one day later)
Checked in past noon and room was ready. It was on 4th floor, with street view (loved the Topo Chico billboard in front). king bed, large wall mounted smart TV, wall mounted sofa (more modern than comfie), work station, shower only bathroom....only thing missing was a small fridge.
There is a well appointed gym in basement, with plenty of weights and cardio machines. Used the restaurant on last day for breakfast which was a bit more upscale, but for 20$, it was a decent artisan 2 eggs bacon (super thick).
Good service. Plenty of dining options (lots of food trucks)....

Surrounding area is a bit gritty and street noise might disturb light sleepers. But front desk was attentive and moved me to a quieter room. The staff and other guests made this for a really fun stay. There was an art show one night, piano playing in the lobby, live music in the bar. Made for an unusually fun hangout with fellow business travelers. Don't miss Hubers next door, you don't even have to go outside if you find the right door.
Rooms have some quirks like the TV placement on a side wall and multiple light switches that make no sense. Motion light switches in the bathroom go dark if yo stay in the shower too long! But not a deal breaker, the fun and charm of the place would bring me back.

Whoever is running this hotel and the team behind all this has hit every mark. When I arrived a valet working at the door greeted me with a friendly nod and held the door for me. Talking to Sam at the front desk was like talking to an old friend right from jump. The room I was in wasn’t big but it was big enough for me and if definitely felt classy. The bathroom fixtures and the water pressure in the shower were perfect. Oh also everyone at this hotel had pretty quick comebacks and they made me feel like I was some sort of big deal, loved it. Unfortunately I went to extend my stay but I used the same third party app and booked at the Embassy Suites for my final night in Portland. The morning front desk (Will) was still helpful even as I left and had me check my bag with Hi Lo until my room at Embassy was ready.
The area surrounding the hotel is just a few blocks from some high end shops, Voodoo Donuts, and a bunch of strip clubs! This area of Portland is wild and not for the weak but if you want fun want interesting and new you’re gonna experience it here. I’ll definitely be back real soon!

This was my third stay at the Hi-Lo and the first in two years - it remains a nice property to stay at; however, it's probably misaligned with Marriott's Autograph Collection standards and service levels and might be better as a Tribute property (more casual service, features and aesthetics). We had a few service requests to the front desk go unanswered and service at the restaurant was friendly but painfully slow. We never used our remaining food and beverage credits for that reason. There was damage in the bathroom walls, too that marred the aesthetics but was functional none the less. The hotel has sufficient security in place to protect guests too, since its location is "challenging". We were asked (unprompted) by several guests in the lobby, elevator and the bar about the location and safety issues and I responded that the hotel appears to take those concerns seriously

As a frequent Marriott customer and multi-year Titanium Elite Member, I have to express my frustration with the AM (12/7) front desk staff this morning. Upon arriving the lobby a few minutes after 6AM and placing my bag down in the restaurant, I realized I left the valet ticket in my car. I advised the front desk clerk of this and it was eventually figured out and confirmed breakfast started at 6:30AM and that I would just sit in the restaurant, wait 20 minutes and get a bit of work done while I waited. At that point, she advised I could not sit in the restaurant and I would have to wait in the lobby. When I confirmed that I would have to work in the lobby for 20 minutes then move, she confirmed I was not permitted to sit in the restaurant to wait.
After moving from the restaurant, getting myself set in the lobby, then moving myself to the restaurant 15 minutes later, I went up to ask about the mini bottles of water that were in my room yesterday and if I could get two more, she asked if I had back to back reservations. When I replied no, she advise I would have to pay for them as I was only permitted the bottles on check-in. After that response, I just walked away and went back to the restaurant.
While I appreciate the adherence to a set of rules, I also find going out of your way to appease MINOR customer requests to be standard in the service industry. Between my interaction this morning, the quality of the fish & chips Monday (soggy) and the rubbery roasted chicken last night, you will not see me back at this particular Autograph Collection hotel again.
