Nestled in the vibrant Pearl District, the Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown garners high praise for its well-maintained ambiance and spotless accommodations. Guests appreciate the pet-friendly policy and the delicious variety of breakfast offerings. Rooms come equipped with full kitchens and earn compliments for their comfort and space.
The staff's exceptional service contributes to memorable stays, with their friendliness and professionalism often highlighted. While the hotel's location is celebrated for its nightlife and dining options, some guests note the value is diminished by costly parking and underwhelming breakfast experiences for the price.

Detailed Reviews
Really enjoyed our stay at the Ret sidence Inn Portland Pearl District. We were upgrade to a very spacious 2 bedroom unit. Great views, very clean. Lobby/Bar area very large and. opened. Had dinner at the hotel which is opened from 5-10, our food was delicious as was the breakfast in the morning. Breakfast complimentary. tVery impressed that they served breakfast on china plates, silverware. Much classier than paper plates and plastic silverware. Stephanie at the front desk was great and very helpful. Hotel is in a great location & although they have valet parking we did street parking right infant of the hotel, free from 7pm/8am. 2 hour parking prior was 4.80. Very happy with our choice and the location was great.

We always stay here when we are in Portland. The rooms are clean, comfortable and sensibly laid out. The breakfast is outstanding and varies from day to day with ceramic plates and metal table wear. Wanda and the other breakfast attendants are busy making sure everyone there has what they need no matter how crowded it became. We were there Labor Day weekend and the previous week, so we saw it pretty uncrowded but very busy as well. We brought our dog this time, and it is only a couple blocks from a dog park where we walked her. It is well located for Pearl Restaurants, and even walkable (if you like to walk) to the Moda Center. The parking is steep, so we made alternative arrangements for our car. We used the exercise room daily, and although it was busy some days, it was never crowded. It's just a people freindly and dog friendly comfortable spot.

Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean & proper Covid cleaning took place in public areas several times daily( spraying with disinfectant machine and wiping down). Masks required. A restaurant on the premises open evenings only. Free grab and go breakfast. Now the downside. This place just gives off a cold vibe. It is stuck in a part of town where lots of homeless are camped in tents. They are within 1/2 block of the hotel and roaming the area. So sorry to see so much of this in Portland. Also the hotel has no parking. You must park on the street and feed a meter until 7PM then street becomes free. Other options are a city lot one block away or pay $47 per day valet fee. That’s a bit steep I think. I chose the street since we were out & about the city most of the day. I had no problems.
Also the huge courtyard at the hotel needs better upkeep on plantings and landscape, and seating. Some grass to walk dogs, which the hotel allows would be nice. I did not see any restaurants or businesses on the block of the hotel. If I had to choose again, I would choose the downtown Residence Inn a few blocks away. My rating for this RI is strictly on the building and location and parking. Staff were great.

Stayed three nights here during COVID in a two bedroom corner suite with small children. The extra space really helped us to continue to enjoy the evening while the kids sleep. The place is clean with dishes disinfected. Not even one time we saw any staff without masks. Visitors at the building were respectful and voluntarily not to share elevators. On the weekend they serve touchless hot breakfast (includes scramble eggs, baked potatoes and sausages) that you can bring back to your room and on the weekday they have grab and go breakfast. There's disinfectant in high traffic places and social distancing was practised during out stay there. When we asked for extra towels and untensils, the staff also handed them over in a touchless manner. I am really happy I chose this place for my family to have a small getaway during the pandemic and felt safe.

Splendid stay and service. Hotel location was wonderful and in close proximity to many restaurants. The breakfast was very good with excellent scrambled eggs. Some hotels seem to use egg power that is crumbly. This hotel seems to use real eggs that were perfectly cooked. Great orange juice, coffee, and a variety of items I've oatmeal, fruit, etc.
The front desk was very helpful and made you feel at home. There is also food menu and a bar in the lobby area during the evening.
There is also an outdoor courtyard that we enjoyed on multiple days.

The front desk staff is not friendly- AT ALL- and are borderline rude. Not helpful in the slightest.
The room was not thoroughly cleaned as witnessed by an empty box of crackers in the cupboard, a sofa sleeper full of food debris, trash on the floor in one of the bathrooms.
For the price of the hotel, I expected everything to be in good condition however the bathtub & bathroom floor are chipped, the hot water in the bathroom sink is less than lukewarm even after 3 minutes.
The breakfast is beyond insufficient. The only protein available in the cold breakfast is Greek yogurt (not everyone likes Greek yogurt either).
In other lodgings in OREGON/WASHINGTON, they do a “CoVid Safe” breakfast with more options, including a microwave safe sandwich, boxed cereal, and more options for families with children.
There was basically zero kid friendly foods, except a piece of fruit.
The price of the overnight parking is way overpriced. $39/night for self, unattended parking for less than 24/hours.
I would not stay at this location again.

We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Residence Inn in the Pearl District in Portland. The location is great and we were offered a special senior rate. While staying there, we were able to walk to several small parks as well as lots of shops and restaurants. The rooms are generic but immaculately clean and well designed. It is lovely to have a kitchen to use while traveling. There is a free breakfast every morning in the hotel's restaurant. Parking is easy at $12 a day in a commercial parking structure right next door. We found the staff to be unfailingly polite and upbeat. The emphasis on good customer service is a real joy. Will stay again.

We look specifically for multi-room suites when we travel (2 adults with 3 kids) and this residence inn delivered! Good size room with updated furnishings and a nice open feel. The valet parking option was new to us and possibly unnecessary if you could find street parking nearby (or self park in the deck) but we had enough going on so we opted in. The free breakfast was busy but they had a great variety with new food coming out often. Didn't explore any other parts of the hotel although they appeared to have a nice large outdoor space.

I’ve stayed at this property regularly over the last 10 years for both business and personal trips (outside of a couple of rough post Covid years where all of downtown was a zoo).
Staff is always warm and welcoming, starting with Josh who runs the valet and front door greeting. While he claims that I am a VIP (I’m not) because I stay so often, the reality is that he treats each and every guest like a VIP. Not scripted, but sincerely.
David in the bar is a staple to this property now and always greets me (and others) with a smile and a proper cocktail.
Front desk is steady and offers consistent service no matter who is back there from check in, to late night pantry raids to check out and all points in between.
I choose this property for its nice clean and safe location, proximity to a variety of food and drink of all levels and the entirety of the staff just makes it easy. Period.

Ya I guess they do. I had my own so I didn't really notice, but now that you mention it, pump bottles were attached to the wall and there weren't a lot of little disposable bottles everywhere, just new bars of soap.
Studios are spacious but I don't know about bedroom size as the one bedroom is a bit narrow. I'm sure you can put crib in living room.
Yes, there is loading/unloading/ valet right in front of the hotel (often street parking is available in front or behind that zone as well,I got lucky twice). The public parking garage is very easy to get to as well. If you pull over to unload/check in, you can just get back in your car and take the first right, then right again for the union station garage ($12 overnight) and cut diagonally through the very nice courtyard on foot to get back into the hotel.
Valet parking is now $44, which might be ok if you're staying a whole week, but is a lot for one night (same price)!
Yes, its about 15 min. across a bridge.
