The Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland garners attention for its stylish atmosphere with industrial-chic flair and innovative room amenities. Guests rave about the convenient central location, though safety at night has been a concern for some. Service quality varies, with accolades for staff friendliness contrasting with reports of unprofessionalism. Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, despite occasional housekeeping lapses. Room design earns praise, but improvements like adding microwaves are suggested. The hotel's value proposition sparks debate, balancing reasonable rates against parking fees and service issues.

I came here for a week to work remotely and explore the city. I had decided to use one of my SUA as a globalist to upgrade to the one bed king suite that they have here. Check-in was smooth, was greeted with the two water bottles and the breakfast vouchers for being a globalist ($25 daily at The Covet in the lobby). After check-in, went to the room, and it definitely is bigger than the standard rooms, but it lacks a desk (very important if you plan to try to do any work from here), and has very very bad and low lighting. Since the suite is so much bigger and there is no recessed lighting (probably due to concrete ceilings), the room relies on two little floor lamps to light it up, and the bedroom, a mirror light and two side lights on your bed. It just feels cold and sterile. But, the bathroom was fantastic, big shower, big vanity, lots of good lighting in there! And the shower was powerful and went from hot to scalding hot which in my book, is good, just took getting use to finessing the handle. Bed was super comfy, and regarding the desk issue, Dawn (who is fantastic by the way) was able to help me resolve that and have something sent up to my room that worked out great for my need to do some work!

Breakfast was pretty good! The lattes I had every morning were incredible, just a simple oat milk iced latte, but the coffee they use is *chef kiss*. As far as food for breakfast, the avocado toast is marvelous, I pretty much just ate this every day, and a couple of times had the huevos rancheros which were pretty good, except the first time the tostada was quite stale.

The gym was really nice, they actually had an impressive amount of free weights, more than most hotels do, even big hotels! It is a small gym, but the equipment is good and seeing the cute dog at the thrift shop across the street while you're on the elliptical is a bonus.

The location is central and very easy to get around using either the public transit, or rideshare. Not only is it central, but it is safe, I never felt in danger or see anything nefarious near the hotel, of course that changes the further you go away from it.

The value for the hotel is really where it is at, for everything I had received and the level of service from the staff, you can't go wrong here. I just wouldn't recommend the suite (I know!) just because of the bad lighting and dreariness, especially with the gloomy weather Portland has most of the year. I would probably just get a regular room or a corner room.

I felt this hotel provided a 5 star level of service. Scott, Eric, and the rest of the staff there was fantastic. Everyone upon check in and throughout the stay were friendly, helpful, and very caring. We can't think of anything that could be better. It was a perfect stay. It helped that the hotel was spotless and clean. We felt very comfortable here and will tell others about it as well. COVID preparations were taken seriously and we felt very safe with their their social distancing and attention to cleanliness in the rooms and throughout the hotel. Also, bed and room were comfortable too..it is a brand new hotel so their room temperature control was so quiet we couldn't hear anything and was very comfortable all night long.

We stayed for 4 days in late July. The hotel was spotless and cool, which was important during the heat wave. We arrived very early and the check in desk staff offered to store our bags and text us immediately when our room was ready. Additionally, they made a list of a half dozen nearby restaurants we might enjoy.

We enjoyed the modern industrial design. We had everything we needed in the room and while we did not request housekeeping, we did call for towels and shampoo once and they were delivered in minutes.

We had a bed and breakfast rate and enjoyed breakfast all three mornings. I was really surprised that the restaurant wasn't more crowded. The vegetable frittata was excellent. The manager was there all three days and actually helped deliver all entrees and inquired about how we were finding things. Service was very attentive both in the morning and in the evening at the bar.

The location couldn't be beat. We were in an area that felt very safe. And we were short walking distance to Powell's Book Store, Voodoo Donuts, directly across the street from the tram and just a few minutes away from the tram that takes you to the airport for just $2.50. You can buy your tickets on the street at the kiosk. It's just a 45 minute tram ride versus $50 via Uber and just as fast. Full day transit passes are available for just $5 per day. We were surrounded by excellent restaurants and pubs that were within a couple of minutes walk or directly next door.

Check out went well and they once again offered to store our bags for us as we had a late flight and that enabled us to do some additional walking and get lunch in Portland before returning to claim our bags and walk a few blocks to the tram stop for the tram to the airport. We would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at Hyatt Centric was fantastic! The staff here is friendly and incredibly helpful.

The room itself had a very industrial style yet was able to remain comfortable and modern. They even had motion activated lighting under the bed that really helped at night. The room was also very clean though not every service (i.e., housekeeping) was offered yet due to COVID. The bathroom and the room was spacious enough. The opaque showers were a bit strange as other reviews have mentioned but a thick curtain was there to provide a more private division between the bathroom and the sleeping area.

There is valet parking which was prompt and easy. The price for valet parking was reasonable especially considering the downtown area. However a car isn't always necessary as the location is also within walking distance of a ton of activities, cafes, restaurants, and shopping. A must-stay in Portland, Oregon!

We chose the Hyatt Centric because it is walking distance to most things we wanted to see downtown. The hotel has a modern, minimalist aesthetic with concrete floors and ombre furnishings. Our room was comfortable and provided plenty of space. The hotel staff was friendly, accommodating and helpful whenever we needed anything.

We spent 7 nights and not once did housekeeping come to our room. I understand COVID protocols however we have stayed at other high end hotels that limited housekeeping to every other day or two days. We had to constantly ask for fresh towels. No coffee for coffee machine. No bottle water for coffee machine. When I asked to be moved to another room after being in room 5 days because of street drag racing keeping us up, we were told no other rooms available. However the hotel wasn’t busy at all. We never once saw anyone on our floor. We then we’re told that we would be “comp” for the bad night and specifically told we would receive a credit for three night. We received $50 credit not the full amount. It’s a beautiful hotel but we felt like we were on our own, no housekeeping, no reasonable accommodations for multiple nights of drag racing keeping us up, no bottle water or coffee, no restaurant (closed due to COVID). Beautiful modern hotel. It’s a shame that they did. It meet our expectations.

We stayed at this hotel for over a week while visiting family. Our main concerns while staying in a hotel were the cleanliness and safety precautions followed during this pandemic. In our opinion, they were very attentive to maintaining a clean and safe environment and we were very comfortable staying there. The staff was wonderful! We would definitely consider staying there on our next trip to Portland. And, we would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This hotel was recommended to me by my boss who is a Portland local and has exceptional taste in hotels. While the lobby, restaurant, and room was certainly clean and trendy from a design standpoint, overall it was not up to par.

I requested to have early check-in available on my room as my flight was arriving in the morning on my check-in day and I needed to spruce up before I had work meetings. My room was not ready when I arrived. In order to check-in I had to upgrade my room, which cost an extra $25 a night that I had to pay for. I wasn't given any other options by the front desk so I paid, even though I told them that I felt this upgrade should be complimentary because they didn't have room ready and I was already paying $250 a night.

I didn't sleep well because it is incredibly noisy outside the hotel at night. It sounded as though there was a trolley or bus of sorts driving past the hotel every 30 mins or so.

The cherry on top was that when I went to use the fancy, Dry Bar hair dryer that was included in the room, it would not blow out hot air. I ended up having to go to my work meeting with wet hair. I expressed my frustration to the front desk and asked that housekeeping replace my hair dryer. They said it would be no problem. I went to use it the next morning of my stay, only to find that it was not replaced. I checked out that morning with wet hair and expressed my frustration with the front desk that it was not fixed when asked. Housekeeping does not clean your room at this hotel and will only bring towels when requested, but in my case they were nonexistent all together.

Our family visited Portland to catch an NBA game. Staying at the Hyatt centric was like being in your older sibling's cool loft, only cleaner and more modern. Our immaculate room had concrete floors, comfortable beds, and even a turntable with records. A telling touch! Kudos to hotel manager Scott for assembling a great team throughout the property,Special and special thanks to David for his help at the front desk.

Hey! We have a Market that has grab and go options that are featuring local restaurants to help support the community, like Sugar Street and Multnomah Whiskey Library! They can be brought up to the hotel room if you so wish. Nothing is made here on property. We also have a dinning room that is currently open to the our hotel guests, and plenty of plates and silverware to use if you decided to grab Take-Out from one of the many great restaurants in the area.
