Gorgeous hotel in a quiet and peaceful part of Portland. Within walking distance of riverfront and lots of great restaurants in all directions. Rooms and hallway have great design and uniqueness. Fantastic customer service. Great pool (and meditation area) and cafe. It will be an exceptional hotel when restaurants/bars reopen.

I stayed at the hotel with my family earlier this month and we had a great time! The hotels right downtown, so the location was pretty great! The rooftop bar and cafe were really nice. The staff were also very friendly, especially the valet team! James and Mo were awesome and super helpful!!

This hotel had a great downtown location. And what an awesome rooftop bar with outdoor seating and great views of the city. Our room was really fresh and immaculately clean. Hotel featured a nice basement pool although hot tub was down during our stay. Very friendly staff. James the valet was outstanding!

Let me start by saying that the 3 star average rating that I have given is in no way a reference to the staff of this hotel. In fact the best thing about this hotel is their staff who accommodate your every request. The average rating is due to the booking experience and lack of certain basic facilities that you need to request. At first, as a Hilton Honors member I browsed the Hilton website for their Best property in Portland and shortlisted this hotel. I usually book through my credit card rewards program so as to maximize points and so checked the rate difference between my credit card company and Hilton website and chose the breakfast included rate. That was the first surprise. When we showed up at the Hotel, we were informed that the Porter Portland is part of the Hilton Curio collection and they have no breakfast at the hotel. They did not even have a restaurant at the hotel where you could buy breakfast. They had a small attached cafe where you could grab bagels, pastries and coffee to go. But they were regularly out of stock on most items. Even milk for coffee was out on one day of the two that we stayed there. As I had booked with my credit card company, I could get a credit of some points for getting no breakfast. But I am not sure what other people do who book with a vendor who doesn’t offer refunds or with Hilton directly. I still see that Hilton website is offering a breakfast inclusive rate even though the hotel has no breakfast. The second thing is the lack of bathroom supplies in the hotel. A room with king bed with at least two people occupancy should at the minimum have two bath towels, soaps, etc in the bathroom. But in this case there was only one towel and one soap and we had to request a second set from the reception. Initially I didn’t think it was a problem. But when I was at the front desk inquiring about the breakfast issue, the receptionist got at least 3 calls to provide additional towels and toiletries to different rooms. So I am assuming this is a generic problem at the hotel. The housekeeping staff need to be taught to provide the required bathroom supplies when they clean the room after each guest has left. The staff at the hotel are exemplary though. Always ready to assist you for anything you need. They also provided good suggestions on what to see and where to eat. The hotel has a valet parking system which is $49 overnight. But you can park yourself across the street in the Smart Parking Garage for $15 on weekdays and $10 on weekends and holidays. I would stay at this hotel again but would make sure that I make arrangements for breakfast elsewhere.

My family and I decided to take a quick overnight excursion into the city of Portland and stay at The Porter again, which is one of the only Portland area upscale hotels with a pool facility, hot tub and spa. We were disappointed the facilities were under maintenance and we were unable to use the hot tub on both days of our stay. Steam room was also out of service the entire time. The pool was closed for one of the two days that we were able to be there- so at least we got to use that for a couple hours before check out with our kiddo. The pool facilities being the primary reason that we stay at the hotel, we were very disappointed. There are plenty of wonderful upscale nice hotels in the area that we would’ve been happy to check out or stay at again had we known that all these facilities would be closed this time. We brought it up to the hotel staff they gave us a $20 discount on the rate which was appreciated but I still think we would’ve stayed at a different hotel had we known about all the closures.

Dear jenniferhkang, Please accept my apologies that the pool facilities were not available during your stay with us. We do our absolute best to ensure that these amenities are always available to our guests but there are times when we must suspend their operations temporarily to ensure that the conditions of both the pool and spa are in compliance with the City of Portland. I'd love a chance to make this right for you and your family and invite you back for a wonderful and memorable stay with us. Please reach out to me directly and I will make the all the arrangements. Kind regards, -Matt

I have never seen a hotel even 2 star rated with no water to offer to guests. This hotel could not offer any water for drinking either paid or free to guests. How could this hotel be rated 4.5 star??! Serious issue which requires immediate attention from hotel management.

Hi 329abdulrahmah, Thanks for your review and shocked to hear you were unable to locate drinking water during your stay. I know that we have tried to reach out to you to discuss your stay with us. Rest assured that we provide complimentary bottled water to our Diamond and Gold members and have bottled water available in the Portland Exchange located within our lobby. Additionally, for your convenience, we offer multiple filtered water dispensers throughout the property for our guests that prefer to fill and refill their own water bottles. Please accept my apologies that you were not made aware of these options these options during your stay with us. I want to thank you for being our guest and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards, -Matt

This was my first time bringing my wife to Oregon. The check-in clerk was amazing, but the room (corner king on the 13th floor) had vomit on the floor (which soaked into our luggage) and blood on the sheets. After raising the concern, the staff asked us to leave the room so they could clean/disinfect it and offered a dinner at the XPort Bar & Lounge, which we graciously accepted. After coming back, it did seem that the room was cleaned but the entire carpet was wet from cleaning (hopefully a good thing with the vomit) and the sheets were changed. The food at the XPort was less than bar-quality food (outside of the Brussel Sprouts that were actually very well prepared). Upon checkout, we were still being charged for our XPort bar-food dinner, and the front-desk employees had no notes of what had happened or what was promised. After spending 15 minutes talking through it, they told us we were free of the charges and that it was all figured out. Coming home and checking in on the said charges revealed that although we were refunded the XPort charges, we also had charges of $53 and $10 from the day before the stay. Upon contacting the hotel about these, they said they do not have them in their system and have no idea where they are coming from. I have now disputed the transactions with our credit card. We never plan to return to this hotel, and while the guest services were kind and helpful, the hotel itself is not worth the cost, unless you are excited by bloody and vomit laden rooms, I would recommend finding other establishments in the area.

Dear Chaospattern, Thanks for taking the time to provide your review. I know that our team has tried to reach you directly but wanted to respond here as well. The dampness on the carpet was due to it being shampooed and unfortunately had not dried completely. Rest assured that all guest rooms go through a rigorous cleaning process and please accept my apologies if things had not dried out properly. I looked at the sheets from your guest room and there was no blood, but appeared to have received a burn from our laundry equipment. I'd love a chance to speak with you about your stay when you have a moment at your convenience. Kind regards, -Matt

Good hotel. Rooms are small but sufficient. Valet parking took forever to get cars and they just left them in the middle of the street blocking the road. Probably more valet stuff would be good Reception people seemed disinterested in customers and just kept chatting with each other. And wanted to charge 50 dollars to check in 15 min earlier then 2 pm. We just waited 15 min at reception and avoided the fee. Customer service needs to improve… a bit sad for Hilton brand.

Our booking was part of a package deal which we prepaid but upon arrival in the hotel we were asked to pay over $800 again. After almost 2 hours of discussion between the hotel and the agency we booked the package with (done on my cellphone because no one was answering the hotel phone) the lady at the front desk finally acknowledged that it was something that needed to be settled between both of them the following day and gave us our room, by which time most restaurants in the area were closed and we were starving… today, when we got back to the hotel at around 4-5pm, our room was not yet done and when I called to ask for it to be done, the answer I got was that their housekeeping works 24 hours and I just need to wait til they get around to doing our room. I asked when that could be and if I would have to wait until midnight before that was done and I the answer I got was yes. Oh, I could also look on my floor and see if there was anyone from housekeeping and ask them… no apology whatsoever. I called again after dinner and asked at the very least if they could bring up towels which were eventually brought up an hour later… but not enough for both of us. The housekeeping person who brought the towels said he would bring the missing towels which still did not come an hour later. I decided to go down to the front desk in hope of getting them myself. There was one lady and a long line of guests waiting yo check in. They could not find the reservation of the party checking in and the lady was answering nonstop calls from guests in their rooms complaining about their rooms not being made or not receiving one service or another that they were expecting to receive…. There’s more but it’s past 10pm and I can finally get ready for bed as our towels just arrived. Location is good, rooms are nice and clean. But I’ve gotten better service at a Motel 6. Buyer beware.
