The Porter Portland, Curio Collection By Hilton is frequently commended for its spotlessness, with guests highlighting the pristinely kept rooms and common areas. Its friendly and efficient service, especially from the valet staff, is a recurring point of praise, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere that extends to the stylish and modern ambiance of the hotel. While opinions on value vary due to costs associated with food and parking, the central location near various attractions is widely appreciated.
Room comfort is well-regarded, despite some critiques regarding noise and design. The rooftop bar, along with other amenities, is a popular feature, even as some guests mention occasional room service hiccups.

Amazing service and cozy vibe. Zen was great at valet service and welcoming us to the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Nice layout inside and I loved that they had someone walking around offering champagne. That was a first for us

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Porter, which was just a short drive from Union Train Station. Check-in was easy and the staff was friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable, and they even had a dog bed and bowls ready for our traveling canine.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel's other amenities such as the pool and workout facilities. I used the spin bike while my partner swam laps in the heated pool, which I enjoyed later along with the hot tub and steam room, all conveniently open until midnight.
The Porter’s downtown location made the entire weekend easy to get around the city, with walking distance to shopping & restaurants and river front, plus a quick drive over to the east-side. The neighborhood was clean and safe, and I would comfortably take the dog for a walk any hour and enjoy the beauty of the city.
I would highly recommend The Porter for anyone staying in Portland that wants an elevated experience with a great central location to see all the city has to offer. We're looking forward to staying at The Porter again, and next time we need to plan to spend more time at the rooftop Xport Bar, which had amazing decor and views - not to be missed!!!
Cheers,
Dan

We‘ve been in Portland and had this hotel on our business trip. Staff is very friendly, rooms have an appropriate size, AC can be completely turned off. Elevators are fast, no waiting time.
WLAN works very well, pricing is ok.
So-next time when I am in Portland - same Hotel again :-)
Best regards!

I average 125+ nights per year in all levels of accommodations and travel to Portland regularly. Additionally I maintain status with Honors and Bonvoy.
The roof top Xport restaurant/bar was wonderful in every way and would highly recommend.
The hotel element and ground floor restaurant were disappointing for a Curio branded property.
Check in line was long. To the hotel entrance where only one of three doors was usable to guests. Only two people working the front desk with 4 stations.
Guy that checked us in was not friendly/only going thru the motions. He acknowledged my Diamond status but provided no information about the property and/or services. No upgrade offered; they were not filled up either (I asked).
Carpet used in hallways is of a grade that works against wheeled luggage?
Hallways and ground floor restaurant very dark; not welcoming.
Room was very dark and narrow with minimal storage space. Very small closet with three hangers and one robe for two people on the reservation. Two bottled waters in room are supposed to be free to Diamond members but nothing stating that.
However bathroom was excellent. It actually looked designed by a totally different person/firm than the rest of the room/hotel public spaces?
Breakfast experience downstairs was strange. Menu odd/minimal; server slow; made no attempt to refill coffee/beverages.
Different guy checked us out. Again not friendly. Didn't ask about our stay, say goodbye, thank you, nothing. Only confirmed my email that the folio would be emailed...
Inquired about a taxi to the airport to compare the $38.00 Uber ride. Bellman couldn't tell me how much a taxi would cost but did offer to contact his "friend" for a $40.00 flat fee. Whole interaction felt somewhat sleazy...
We recently were guests of the Duniway and Hampton Inn Pearl District. Both far better experiences (especially in staff) for around the same rate...

Overall, the hotel is a good option. Its location is okay. It is a little bit further away from the heart of Downtown Portland. There are no grocery stores around and to get to the nearest 7-Eleven you have to walk like 5 blocks. Also there are not many restaurants around the hotel. The good news is the hotel is located super close to the water and the riverwalk. The hotel’s lobby is very stylish looking. The night I checked in I did not have a great experience with the front desk guy. He was a little bit rude and seemed angry. But the next day the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. One of the biggest pluses of the hotel is the swimming pool area which guests can use for free. It includes a big swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a steam room and a dry sauna. There is also a gym next to the swimming pool area. My room (#1215) was okay. I did not like its color tone, to be honest. It was too much dark brown. Also I had bad luck with the way it was facing. It faced a tall building across the street, so lighting was limited there even during the day time. Room size was okay, but it seemed a little bit tight. However, it was completely refurbished and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also kind of small. I did not like bathroom amenities, they were cheap. Wi-Fi was working pretty fast. I believe the rate for this hotel is overpriced. I payed $140 per night. But the overall quality obviously does not add up with the money spent. I believe a night at a hotel like this for a smaller city like Portland must not cost more than $100 per night.

Let me start by saying that the 3 star average rating that I have given is in no way a reference to the staff of this hotel. In fact the best thing about this hotel is their staff who accommodate your every request.
The average rating is due to the booking experience and lack of certain basic facilities that you need to request. At first, as a Hilton Honors member I browsed the Hilton website for their Best property in Portland and shortlisted this hotel. I usually book through my credit card rewards program so as to maximize points and so checked the rate difference between my credit card company and Hilton website and chose the breakfast included rate. That was the first surprise. When we showed up at the Hotel, we were informed that the Porter Portland is part of the Hilton Curio collection and they have no breakfast at the hotel. They did not even have a restaurant at the hotel where you could buy breakfast. They had a small attached cafe where you could grab bagels, pastries and coffee to go. But they were regularly out of stock on most items. Even milk for coffee was out on one day of the two that we stayed there. As I had booked with my credit card company, I could get a credit of some points for getting no breakfast. But I am not sure what other people do who book with a vendor who doesn’t offer refunds or with Hilton directly. I still see that Hilton website is offering a breakfast inclusive rate even though the hotel has no breakfast.
The second thing is the lack of bathroom supplies in the hotel. A room with king bed with at least two people occupancy should at the minimum have two bath towels, soaps, etc in the bathroom. But in this case there was only one towel and one soap and we had to request a second set from the reception. Initially I didn’t think it was a problem. But when I was at the front desk inquiring about the breakfast issue, the receptionist got at least 3 calls to provide additional towels and toiletries to different rooms. So I am assuming this is a generic problem at the hotel. The housekeeping staff need to be taught to provide the required bathroom supplies when they clean the room after each guest has left.
The staff at the hotel are exemplary though. Always ready to assist you for anything you need. They also provided good suggestions on what to see and where to eat. The hotel has a valet parking system which is $49 overnight. But you can park yourself across the street in the Smart Parking Garage for $15 on weekdays and $10 on weekends and holidays.
I would stay at this hotel again but would make sure that I make arrangements for breakfast elsewhere.

What a dump! The pictures looked so nice and the location is great. Unfortunately, the staff is completely incompetent. When we arrived in the room there were only two bath towels and we were a party of three. There was no hand soap and the top sheet on one of the beds had a three foot rip down the middle. I immediately had to call for another bath towel and soap. They brought two hand towels not a bath towel.
The rooms are only serviced when it is requested. After staying for two of the five days I requested service at 7:30 am on day three letting them know we would be out all day returning in the evening. When we got to our room at 7:00 pm it had not been serviced. When I called the front desk to let them know they were ver apologetic and said they would find out what happened. After not hearing back, I called again and was told that the one person who cleans the rooms left early for a family emergency and that the room could be cleaned the next day.
The small coffee shop/cafe near the lobby has been closed the entire time with no explanation.
There are MANY better options in the downtown area to stay and likely for much cheaper with much better service and better quality.
Very disappointing!

Hi Chad, Thanks for providing your feedback from your recent stay with us. Please accept my apologies the the issue with your linen, amenities and shortened hours of the coffee shop. The Porter Team works incredibly hard to provide amazing experiences for our guests and it saddens me to think that you feel this way about our team. Our very competent team will continue to do the incredibly difficult work, and I will continue to appreciate them for what they do every single day; as they provide their absolute best efforts every single day. Our booking was part of a package deal which we prepaid but upon arrival in the hotel we were asked to pay over $800 again. After almost 2 hours of discussion between the hotel and the agency we booked the package with (done on my cellphone because no one was answering the hotel phone) the lady at the front desk finally acknowledged that it was something that needed to be settled between both of them the following day and gave us our room, by which time most restaurants in the area were closed and we were starving… today, when we got back to the hotel at around 4-5pm, our room was not yet done and when I called to ask for it to be done, the answer I got was that their housekeeping works 24 hours and I just need to wait til they get around to doing our room. I asked when that could be and if I would have to wait until midnight before that was done and I the answer I got was yes. Oh, I could also look on my floor and see if there was anyone from housekeeping and ask them… no apology whatsoever. I called again after dinner and asked at the very least if they could bring up towels which were eventually brought up an hour later… but not enough for both of us. The housekeeping person who brought the towels said he would bring the missing towels which still did not come an hour later. I decided to go down to the front desk in hope of getting them myself. There was one lady and a long line of guests waiting yo check in. They could not find the reservation of the party checking in and the lady was answering nonstop calls from guests in their rooms complaining about their rooms not being made or not receiving one service or another that they were expecting to receive…. There’s more but it’s past 10pm and I can finally get ready for bed as our towels just arrived. Location is good, rooms are nice and clean. But I’ve gotten better service at a Motel 6. Buyer beware.

We were at the Porter for a work event. The space is wonderful - rooms are a good size and the beds are super comfortable, especially the pillows (which are usually my least favorite thing). From checkin to checkout, all the staff were attentive and eager to make sure we had everything we needed. The bar had a warm and inviting atmosphere, with some great cocktails. The meeting space was a huge success, we were a conference of around 100 people and there was great space to work and to eat. The hotel is also very well situated to walk to many restaurants.

My college age sons and I stayed for two nights to attend the Portland Grand Prix and enjoy downtown Portland. The staff really made the experience. Katie the front desk manager was especially attentive and we really appreciated her greeting us as we came and went and making sure things were squared away.
I was a little disappointed that the hotel restaurants are not open yet, but I understand given where we are in the pandemic. Highly recommend visiting Luc Lac a couple blocks down the street (check in and get on the list for a table and then go shopping or check out downtown and they will text you). The hotel is in a quiet but also fairly safe area of town a few blocks from the main center of activity. The rooms are very nice and upscale. The lobby is exceptional. There was one food option in the hotel and it was excellent for a breakfast snack. I recommend the corner rooms facing the river, as mine was beautiful and had a great view.

Not a good walk, but check on the great transit system....on tracks, runs often.
The reception desk is extremely accommodating. We had no need of late check out ourselves. My impression is a one hour later checkout would not be a problem in most situations.
