When at the convention center, this is a great property to use. The restaurant was a wonderful surprise with good quality food. It was not the bistro food found at some Courtyard properties. The room was clean and well-appointed in line with the Courtyard market. It is an easy one block walk to the convention center. Additionally, the light rail station is one block away as well, easy transportation to/from the airport.

This was my first visit since the COVID pandemic began, and I am relieved to report that this property remains an excellent place to stay while attending an event at the Oregon Convention Center. My room was clean and in good repair. There was a limited breakfast and dinner menu, Breakfast was served in the dining room and dinner was served in the bar. The food was well prepared and served promptly. This hotel is located in a fine dining desert, so the hotel restaurant is your best bet unless you head into downtown.
The hotel is only four blocks from the Convention Center MAX station, so it is easily accessible by public transit from the airport and the AMTRAK station.

Had a great time staying at the Marriott for a weekend of exploring Portland and nearby wine country. The hotel location enables a safe 5 min or less walk to a number of restaurants, coffee shops, stores, and most importantly - several different bus routes and a tram/metro stop. Portland has incredible public transportation, and this hotel puts them all at your fingertips.
For the hotel property: All the staff are very courteous, the rooms and common areas are kept very clean, and the rooms were up to date and clean. Would recommend and will stay here again.

First, the valet was unable to answer basic questions about parking. Then when we gave our keys, he loudly asked & repeated our name & room number in front of strangers. Front desk was unhelpful when asked about an open bar or good restaurant and theirs was not open yet. The hotel restaurant food selection looked very uninspired, & it was not open when we arrived at 4. We came to Portland for dinner & a show, the show was going to be very special, we wanted the same for dinner. Called the Hyatt & they gave us a good recommendation, the Metropolitan, 2 blocks away. I repeat, nothing from the Courtyard.
The room: biggest issue was the a/c. Blasted air out very noisily. Very strong & noisy. Couldn’t be near the blast. Noise was waking us at night. Like an engine starting up. Rm 506, or 503. Then in the morning, cleaners stood outside our door (with do not disturb sign on it) & talked on their walkie-talkies. It was loud. Not up to Marriott standards

Good location if you’re going to the convention center. Rooms were clean, comfortable but no microwave and the fridge kept freezing our stuff even when temperature was adjusted.
The front desk staff was friendly. Fitness center was small but clean. Pool was really cold. The valet parking wasn’t staffed well during peak hours and you could see valet driver’s frustration and them speeding in vehicles. The restaurant couldn’t seem to figure out if they were using the menu that they had on sight or the menu the hotel was distributing to guests by QR code. The pricing and ingredients for menu items seemed to be whatever they decided in the moment no matter which menu you used and food wasn’t great. There’s a Denny’s and Burgerville in between the hotel and convention center which are better options.
One of our nights we were up all night due to crying and yelling down the hall at random hours. The staff tried to be helpful but wasn’t. I was surprised that they didn’t have cameras in the corridors for issues like this and general safety.
If you are bringing a pet call the hotel directly for info. I reserved by phone and was told my dog was welcome no matter the size and found out at check in that there is a weigh limit. They worked with me fortunately otherwise we would have had to cancel our stay and scramble for a different place. Overall it’s an ok stay if all you need is a clean bed, shower and proximity to the convention center.

It’s time to update these reviews. This place is dated. Our room smelled like urine and was quite loud with all the homeless issues happening in Portland. We woke up most days hearing people screaming outside. We valet parked for $50 a day because we heard not to leave our car on the streets and they’re majorly taking advantage of people with parking here. The bathroom was dirty with stains on the walls and it smelled like old urine. Overall this hotel used to be nice, but needs help. They also only clean your room everything third day. Someone needs to tell them the world is operating differently again. Make sure if you want your car (if you’re in a hurry) call them to make sure they read the texts. I stay at a LOT of marriotts and I probably would skip this one although at one point it used to be so much nicer.

I stayed here for three nights for a trade show at the convention center. The convention center is a few minute walk from the hotel.
I checked in late and informed the hotel in advance that I was checking in late thru the Marriott App. No issue with checkin and gave me a free bottle of water when I arrived at 11pm at night and they have a few shelves of things you can buy from..snacks and drinks
Front desk was also helpful in storing my bags as I had the redeye home
As a Platinum member I received $10 food credit and used it at the restaurant. Staff was very nice and attentive at the restaurant and only ate there for breakfast and overall good value for the omelets I ordered.
Room was a solid Courtyard king with a smart tv so easy to login into my netflix account
I would stay again if at a trade show..otherwise no reason to stay in that area.
The tram was a few minute walk to take you to airport or Pioneer Square.

This is a great choice for people attending a convention at the Convention Center. The rooms are more reasonable than the Hyatt which is across the street from the OCC, but you pay for the convenience. The Courtyard is only 5 minutes away.
There was a minor disaster on the first day. They had to drain and then repair the water system so there was no water in the room on the first day. The staff, however, compensated us well for the inconvenience.
There is no free breakfast available, but I recommend the "chia bowl" which costs only $12. It consists of re-hydrated chia seeds with almond milk, topped with a generous serving of strawberries, blueberries, and banana slices. See the accompanying picture.

Took the TriMet MAX train from the airport to Convention Center. Easy 3 block walk on MLK Blvd. Stayed in a suite because we invited friends (who also attended the same 5 day convention) to visit us. Had to ask for housekeeping the second day; that was the only time they came except one other time just to empty the trash can. Plenty of towels. Asked for coffee and cups at reception with no problem. Friendly staff. Clean building and grounds.

Certainly, but consider the time you do it. I would avoid walking around there at night. There are tons of homeless people all over Portland so one should always be aware of their surroundings.
I believe all the rooms were completely renoveated in April.

Olympia, Washington, United States12 contributions22 helpful votesYou mentioned you went to another hotel that gave you better service and worked. better than the Marriot. Can you tell me the name of the hotel so I can book there instead of the Marriot. Thanks much!!
I did not write that review either. I loved the Marriot Courtyard. Super great location. Able to walk to restaurants, Lloyd Center and the Moda Center. Clean room, excellent staff, on site restaurant.
You can walk to Lloyd shopping center, it's a huge mall worth a look.At the hotel they have a shuttle van and will take you across the bridge, we had them drop us off at the train station. From there we walked a couple of blocks and hopped on the pink bus.I recommend this tour (about 33.00 ) it takes you up to the rose gardens, zoo, pearl district, and you can hop on and off anytime. I recommend the two day pass, few dollars more, take the trip and then plan accordingly for the next day. You also have transportation all around. Ask at the front desk and they will point you in the right direction.
