Beautiful little gem of a hotel. Stunning huge rooms individually decorated in a sympathetic manner to the age of the property. Rooms thoughtfully set out with comfortable beds. Vintage/antique lamps and furniture combined with modern pieces and facilities made it feel very luxurious. The room had a roof terrace leading out through French doors but due to the weather/time of year it wasn’t in use but it would be beautiful in the warmer weatherwhen the view over the garden and surrounding countryside could be enjoyed. Bathroom absolutely pristine and lovely and warm. Bar really cosy with a real fire and the dining room was tastefully decorated. Food for the evening meal was delicious but portions slightly small. Breakfast was plentiful, freshly cooked and delicious. All food was prepared using very high quality ingredients. All the staff were friendly and polite Only downside was one of our party had a room at the top of the property and they were disturbed during the night by wind whistling through the eaves.

My partner and I love this place and conjuring more superlatives is difficult! This was our third visit and it’s always reassuring that the quality doesn’t waver. The restaurant continues to provide outstanding food and impeccable service - and at comfortable prices. Wine is reasonably priced and a wide selection is offered. Support for local businesses and products is evident and I can recommend several of the local gins. Staff changes inevitably take place but the quality of service never slackens. John and Jenny run a superb hotel ably supported by all the staff - Theresa, Kirsty, Seb, Ellie, Marilyn and several others. Apologies but many credits to those whose names I don’t know. A wonderful stay and we might just go back. Thank you all

Just ate in the restaurant - delicious with fabulously attentive staff as always. Slight problem with bill rectified immediately. Lots of choice of drinks. Local suppliers used were possible. Good range of dishes on menu so everyone had a choice. The owners are really friendly - nothing is too much trouble.

The Grange is a magical place. It envelops you gently as soon as you arrive, and I love the ever so slghtly quirky decor - nothing too overstated, but lovely, curious things all over the place! My room was excellent, and a super-comfy bed. But most of all it's the staff that make it so very special; Jon and Jenny, despite the tough times for everyone in the business, run what seems a very happy ship, and they themselves are both delightful, helpful people, wholly committed to make The Grange the extra special place it is. Can't wait to get there again!

Excellent and an old friend. The Grange is very comfortable and beautifully run with charming staff. The rooms are lovely. Dinner was very good and the service exceptional but we sensed a slight change in the quality of food at dinner. Breakfast is beyond compare and deserves lingering over.

This is a really charming and friendly family run hotel, in a lovely country setting only a few minutes' drive from Sherborne. Our room was an excellent size with a well appointed bathroom and exceptionally comfortable bed. I'm only sorry that owing to the disgusting weather we couldn't make use of the huge balcony! Staff were uniformly friendly, helpful and efficient and the food in the restaurant first rate. We came with a group for a music course and are already planning our next visit.

I enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and its surroundings. I have mobility issues and was allocated a ground floor room with an ensuite wet room. I particularly appreciated the readiness of the staff to accommodate my rollator and to carry things for me.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful old manor house. Great rooms, staff and very welcoming. Stayed for our 50th wedding anniversary with our son and daughter in law. They have an amazing cat, Neptune, so friendly. Only disappointment was the food, quite bland land the menu was uninteresting. Lovely breakfast though!

Our second visit this year, and much anticipated after enjoying the first stay so much. The overall character and charm of the hotel is delightful, with such creative attention to detail adding individuality and much joy Our standard room was excellent, spacious, beautifully furnished, clean and delightfully decorated. Good selection of teas , coffee, regular and oat milk plus delicious biscuits. I can only imagine what the higher grades rooms must be like! Breakfast was a treat. The restaurant is gorgeous in itself with a panoramic view of the stunning garden. The quality, generosity and choice of food was excellent, with warm and friendly staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble. And just to top it off a charming tabby cat curled up in an armchair waiting for a bit of fuss. The immediate setting of Oborne is wonderful, with open fields and hills and the local cottages, with a stream and ducks running alongside the road. A quite and tranquil base, great for walking but also just a five minute drive into Sherbourne. It is so nice to know this place is here and to look forward to staying again! Do book direct with the hotel for better rates and cancellation arrangements. We were also able to ensure getting the exact room we wanted.
