This place was dirty, filthy windows everywhere, filthy carpets terrible curtins so old they would be unhealthy with dust so many pin holes when tbe sun came through slidings doors so hard to open. No breakfast available ran out of many dishes on Good Friday we were in at 6.30pm fish frozen not fresh disgusting. No maintenance man rubbish bins overflowing on arrival and for days. Pool had cms of scum around the edge. No room service had to ask for towels and toilet rolls. Pants and modess pad found in my daughter in laws room.No refund or compensation offered I paid for our holiday.. Dirty laundry hanging around for days not out of sight or covered up. Bar staff could not have cared less about our presence no wonder the locals don't support this place. I still can't believe this place was so bad .Regards Gail Norton-Smith …
My family and I booked 3 rooms for 2 nights over Easter 2021. We paid $330 per room. Whilst the location is great, with the ocean sounds clearly able to be heard in the rooms and a lovely view, thats about all the positives this place offers. We had an extra person coming, so I called 4 days prior to book another room, but was told they were all booked out, so they could add an extra mattress on the floor of one of the rooms (which we were more than happy with). I even called the day prior to double check this was being done. When we arrived, they knew nothing about it and wanted to know who I spoke to. The 2 men working in reception were lovely and soon fixed the mix up. Once in the room, it was outdated and small, but linen was crisp and clean. One out of our three rooms had hot water in the shower. The rest of us suffered through luke warm/cold showers every single shower. No face washers are provided and rooms were not serviced throughout our stay. Saturday night had a live band on the grass outside the resort from 8pm -11.00pm. The music was so loud and no one would have been able to sleep through it. The singer had the microphone so close to his mouth, it was shocking. We called and was told they would quieten down, but it didn't. This resulted in 2 very tired kids falling asleep late and waking up early to see if Easter Bunny had been. Not a great choice of entertainment for a family resort. The room was hot and had no air-conditioning or fan. We also couldn't leave the sliding door open because the flyscreen had holes/rips in it. The resort was full, yet they didn't serve breakfast, which was inconvenient, with the nearest brekky place in St Helen's. (There's a good coffee place directly across the road though, but really only serving drinks, muffins and toasties). It seemed there was 2 men working in every area of the resort, trying to be everything to everyone. They were trying their best with a smile on their face, but it was obvious they are short on staff and the resort needs a significant amount of money spent on it to bring it up to scratch. It's sad, because the building has so much potential, but it's getting old and very run down. If something is not done soon, it will be beyond repair.…
Beautiful place to stay if you like A cold shower Rusty toilet brush holder No facewahsers Flyscreen door with holes to let the mosquitoes in No air conditioning Staff with no personality They forgot to put that it was BYO fan Dont plan anything in your room after 7pm because you wont be able to see But a fantastic view
VALUE for money ..... simple and special. There are not a lot of frills here... just down to earth quality service and rooms. Which is why we loved it! The beds are great and the linen was perfect. And what is not to love about the views .... awesome. Check in was a breeze and the stafff were so nice we ended up chatting for quite a while. Drink voucher on arrival was also appreciated 😂 We had a sliding door that was not sliding and we spoke to the manager .... they had someone in our room looking at it straight away while we enjoyed a drink on the deck. How is that for Great Service! By the way the house wine is worth trying .... pretty good wine for such reasonable price ... we were quite surprised. This is an honest independent hotel and at the price you can not go wrong. And you are supporting hard working down to earth, friendly Tasmanians. Some of the rooms are a bit out dated but they are clean and comfortable and have everything you need. Some of the rooms have been updated recently and you can see they have a big job ahead of them and they are going for it despite delays that 2020 may have brought. We wish them all the best. We ate dinner at Fearless Freddy Cafe. And we were not disappointed. The chef is from Sicily and the food is authentic and delicious. It’s BYO though so grab some wine from the resort bottle shop before you head off. The resort bottle shop has a lot on offer and great prices. If you like coffee try the cafe on the corner called Swim East Coast Coffee. It is a gorgeous refurbished cargo container filled with home made food and the best coffee we had in Tasmania. The owners are friendly and happy ....... love that! Great Resort, food, wine and coffee .... all in one location .... PERFECT. We look forward to heading back to Tasmania and we will definitely stay with Jason, and his team, at Scamander Beach Resort again. Thank You everyone at the resort.…
Great location, delightful views from room. The room we stayed had been nicely renovated. Bathroom was small but the shower had hot water with more than adequate pressure. Warm and cosy bed, could not fault linen and comfort. Decent food and wine selection, not cheap. Great spot for a driving tour stop over. I would definitely stay again.
