Country living meets style and sophistication in this gorgeous Northumberland country house hotel, set within 450 acres of beautifully tended private grounds. Over the years, Linden Hall has been sympathetically restored to recapture the elegance and style of the original Georgian mansion, preserving its finest architectural details. Linden Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We're excited to announce that our restaurant is moving to the upstairs of the Linden Tree! Rest assured, the same beloved menu on from Dobson will be available upstairs, maintaining the exceptional service you've come to expect. Available on Friday & Saturday evenings only from October 2023. Downstairs, you can still enjoy our pub menu while experiencing the welcoming atmosphere of the Linden Tree.

No cold water at bathroom basin and hot water extremely hot. Eventually offered alternative room. Smaller than original but adequate for a couple of nights stay. Bar in hotel only open to 7pm weekdays, later opening Friday to Sunday. Disappointing especially as it was full on the Friday evening with far more relaxed atmosphere than the pub. As per previous review, we received numerous emails encouraging booking Dobson Restaurant. This had been 'moved' from main hotel to upstairs in the Linden Tree late last year, however this has also been closed. Only place to eat was the pub. Food okay but limited choices. Note that website still has not been updated despite a direct email to MacDonalds' marketing department (of which there has not been a reply). Misleading?? Staff, generally, were accommodating. Spa treatment was good and relaxing.

Overall had a nice stay at Linden Hall. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. An amazing location and grounds. Sunday breakfast was a massive let down however, we waited 45 minutes to receive our cooked breakfast and the black pudding was raw. Breakfast the other days was better. The rooms are a little tired with some questionable stains on the carpet and some mould on the bathroom ceiling (no extractor fan or window in bathroom) but the bed comfortable and we had everything we needed.

Our recent stay at Linden Hall left much to be desired. While the house itself boasts beauty and charm, the overall experience fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, it was evident that the hotel was in desperate need of updating, with a décor that seemed frozen in the 1980s. The room we were assigned, a tiny double, felt cramped and outdated, leaving us to dance around each other for space. Despite the availability of rooms, we were charged an extra £16 for an upgrade to a room in the annex, which was inconveniently located far from the main amenities and required a trek through the spa. Reception staff initially displayed rudeness, only warming up after engaging in chitchat. The lack of air conditioning made the room uncomfortable, while the outdated bathrooms posed safety concerns, notably with scalding hot water in the sink. Although dinner at the Linden Tree restaurant was enjoyable, the prices were unjustifiably high. While the staff here were friendlier and accommodating, the inability to adjust radiators in public spaces made dining experiences uncomfortably warm. Breakfast, priced at a premium, proved disappointing with a £6 surcharge for salmon with scrambled eggs, which arrived in meager portions and a cost of £24. The value for money was lacking, leaving us feeling overcharged and underwhelmed. Overall, our stay at Linden Hall was marked by disappointment and a sense of being overcharged for subpar amenities and services. We cannot recommend this establishment and will not be returning in the future.

Lovely setting. Could be lovely however is very dated and tired. Spa was small and basic and quite disappointing. The room was small and grubby. I ended up wiping down with some wipes on arrival. Pub was nice for an expensive drink and meal which was bland and below par for what we paid. Overall, won’t be returning.

Booked for a birthday trip and was expecting to stay in the main house but we were “upgraded” to a rather tired 1970’s annex! Also wanted to book for the restaurant but we were told it was closed, despite receiving countless emails asking us to book! Bit disappointing really bits Taft weee friendly and helpful.

Hotel and spa are great! Good character and enjoyable experience. A few things like lockers needing fixed and room amenities could be a little better but good value and good location to cragside, Alnwick, druridge!

Massively disappointed. Used to be such a lovely place to relax. Staff unfriendly and made to feel unwanted. Pool crazy because of child restrictions so all children went at the same time. Disappointing

This hotel is set in a fantastic location for exploring the local area, it makes a great base. Check in was quick and easy, restaurants, bars and spa times were clearly explained. I know other people have complained about kids not being able to use the pill until 5pm but for us as two adults this was ideal! As two teachers on half term the last thing you want is kids in the pool so this was really appreciated! The pool and facilities are good. The room was nice, very quiet and beds were so comfy. Probably the best I’ve slept in a hotel for a long time. Parts of the room and hotel did look tired and could do with freshening up e.g marks on the wall that need repainting, regrouting in the bathroom however this is a very old building so is to be expected. The main thing for us was the room was really clean. Think robes and slippers in the room would have been a nice touch especially to wear down to the pool. Check out wasn’t until 11am which we liked as we didn’t have to rush about. Overall we would stay again!

We’ve stayed here numerous times and couldn’t fault it really, I’ve always said staff were friendly. Hotel was family friendly etc. Linden Tree is over priced and staff are terrible. Well this is our last time coming now. Poor service, pool times changed so kids are restricted to times. Linden tree over priced, food not worth the money and staff are unfriendly and unprofessional. The one thing that kept us coming back here is the child friendly pool, the friendly helpful staff and always feeling welcome. We didn’t this time. We sat in the hotel bar but that is obviously frowned on unless your getting afternoon tea and you’re sort of pushed to go into the Linden Tree Pub which like I said is massively overpriced, average food. And the service ….. well I’ve no words. My advice is unfortunately now would be try somewhere else. Especially if you have children. All the nice little things that would come as standard at this hotel have now gone. Stuff we let go other times eg the rooms need a good revamp, we have turned a blind eye as other stuff were spot on. We’ve slowly watched this beautiful, friendly hotel go down hill. It’s such a shame but it’s now nothing short of a huge let down.

The beds was two single pushed together, that split in night not the room i booked on website, two single duvets for standard king double booked and two single beds pushed together told by reception when complained this was the norm. Staff not friendly had to ask about where breakfast was and other places. Breakfast bit dry . You are not put in rooms shown on web site. Bathroom very in seroious update needed, cracked sink yellow rings around insides. Shower cannot reach unless u stand in bath no hot water or took ages to come through.paint work all scuffed We were pushed down in annexe next to spa very noisy at night Certainly would not recommend for a budget night, you will have to pay upgrade to get decent rooms or pay extra for delux room,
