Detailed Reviews
We were really looking forward to visiting the Ropemaker after watching the refurbishment over the last year and a half. We were mindful of our visit being on the first official opening day and would not mark down for teething issues or staff being a bit nervous, as on the whole the experience was very positive, we were made to feel very welcome and the food (priced a tad high, but reflective of the location and current financial climate and gastro-pub dining prices) was pleasant enough. We loved the beach hut seating areas and enjoyed a drink in one of those after our meal in the restaurant. We look forward to dining being extended to outside the formal restaurant area, as that would be more appealing to families with younger children. We would also welcome the addition of cycle storage, as I’m sure it will be a popular location for cyclists like us.
I only have one grumble; why £2.10 for a small glass of carbonated tap water that comes out of the fizzy drink tap and in all other establishments is free (it is just tap water with air bubbles in it after all!).
Other than that all good and we look forward to visiting again soon. Well done to all the team, as we could see how hard they were working.

We visited on Saturday Teatime - 5pm and it was very busy with very few parking spaces available and no (that I could see) EV Charging Spaces (unlike the Bosham Inn just along the road) - these were our first impressions which I think are minor niggles.
However the meal we enjoyed was absolutely out of this world - I had the best Steak & Ale Pie I've ever tasted made even more perfect with the addition of a 1/3 Tasting Glass of Tribute Ale as part of the dish. My partner had Sweetcorn and Piquillo Pepper Fritters - both dishes came out and looked absolutely stunning!! I had Pistachio Souffle for desserts - if ever there was a dessert to die for this was it and a scoop of chocolate ice cream on the side - absolute perfection!!
We didn't have to wait long for our food either and when our Main Courses arrived they were piping hot and you could tell they'd been cooked to order despite the restaurant being so busy.
The atmosphere was very noisy - there were some large celebrations going on and the place itself was very busy too but you can forgive this as The Ropemaker has not long opened and I guess everyone wants to try it so the noisy atmosphere was understandable under the circumstances.
Although service was excellent - we seemed to see several different waiting staff none of whom were the original Waitress who took our order I can't fault their attentiveness. We saw and spoke to the chap we guessed was the Maitre D who appeared to be welcoming enough but on the way out when we said goodbye he barely acknowledged us or looked up from his computer which we both found a little bit rude - again minor points in an otherwise wonderful dining experience.
So minor points aside we had a fabulous meal and can't wait to return. The Food was of an extremely high standard - I'd go as far to say exemplary and service to go with it was excellent too.
At the moment it's not somewhere I'd recommend for a quiet romantic meal - at least not while it's so busy but if you want fabulous food and drink and the noisy atmosphere doesn't bother you - Wow just Wow!!

Had a meal and stayed here, the service throughout was brilliant and the food and drink was delicious, the steak was more chewy than you'd hope for but was perfectly cooked. The local beer on tap was a nice surprise as well.
The bar / restaurant and room were all beautiful, however the room was very warm. We had big double doors to open, but where we had opted for the dog package we couldn't leave these open without our dog escaping and there was no windows /ventilation otherwise in the room. There was the thoughtful touch of a powerful table top fan which we had on throughout the night, but the room was still too warm (and then quite noisy) to have a decent nights sleep. Even if we hadn't had our dog as well, i wouldn't have felt comfortable having the doors open all night as they led onto the communal pub garden / patio area.
Loved the thoughtful extras for the dog package. One part that may have been overlooked was there was no bins for dog waste either by the rooms / in the car parks.
The breakfast was delicious and great quality and lots of quantity.

This is an upmarket Brasserie Blanc restaurant with rooms that has replaced the previous Brookfield Hotel. The rooms have been refurbished to a high standard with a range of suites available. The small ones may be suitable for short stay for a couple.
The bar and inside dining area have been opened up. The floor is continous A separate dining room for private party is available. The garden has some beach style cabins. The wines are very expensive and the food reflects shades of Brasserie Blanc. The staff service was very good and the food service a bit slow.

I recently visited the Rope Makers for lunch with a friend and was disappointed with the overall experience. We decided to sit in the garden to enjoy the nice weather, but unfortunately, the lunch menu offered very limited choices. We would have liked to order a couple of starters instead, but were told that we could only do so if we sat in the restaurant, which was not our preference.
Living in Emsworth, I know that many walkers and locals like to pop into a pub for a light lunch and a drink. However, the current menu doesn't seem to cater to this need. Due to the limited options, both my friend and I opted for the sausage baguette. Unfortunately, the baguettes were toasted to the point of being almost inedible. We requested replacements, but the second batch was equally hard. My friend was particularly concerned as she has braces, and the texture of the bread made it impossible for her to eat.
When we brought this to the attention of the waiter (who I believe was a senior staff member), his response was simply to thank us for bringing it to his attention, with no empathy or offer of compensation. This lack of concern added to our disappointment.
As a local resident, I value having good dining options nearby, but this experience has made me hesitant to return.

We were a table of 6 and had a superb evening at The Ropemaker. We had a voucher for a 'free' drink each which was really appreciated but we had to remind the waitress to take this off the final bill but this was the only hitch. We all loved our mains ... the duck was super, the tagine hit the mark, crab salad was a winner and the pork & apricot enjoyed. The cheese board was very generous and the desserts were also enjoyed. We didn't think the prices for cocktails, wine or coffee with liqueurs were unreasonable. The atmosphere was superb, though the overall temperature of the restaurant particularly away from the doors was very high. We're plotting our next visit already!

We were honoured to be invited to The Ropemaker last Friday prior to its opening this week. We sat in the delightful garden for drinks, as well as very comfortable garden furniture there are several beautiful cabins which seat up to six people, perfect for the English summer!
Being regular diners at Brasserie Blanc it was good to see some favourites on the menu as well as a few wonderful additions. Food was excellent and the service was very good.
We had a tour of the delightfully furnished bedrooms which we would be more than happy to stay in and we would definitely recommend staying at the Ropemaker and exploring Emsworth.
We are looking forward to visiting The Ropemaker again very soon.

Spent a lovely Friday evening here for our anniversary. Food, service and ambience was perfect. Very busy but no delay with anything. We shared the Scotch Egg (amazing) and both had the fish soup. With all the toppings provided this was extremely tasty, rich and filling. I had the cheese souffle starter as my main which was incredible and husband had a perfectly cooked steak which came with sauce, chips and salad. With 2 pints of lager, a soda and lime and generous tip this was £90. Well worth it and delighted this is only a 2 minute walk for us as we will definitely be regulars.

The Ropemaker is a newly and totally (and expensively) refurbished hotel/restaurant/pub on the site of the former Brookfields Hotel which had enjoyed a fine local reputation so the site offers potential.
I have tried to find a place to review the new dining facilities but can only seem to navigate to the hotel: Anyway here goes.
My wife and I accordingly decided to try the Ropemaker for a snack lunch and we chose two different Starters and two different Desserts: Exquisite cooking and at a reasonable price. Quick and polite service.
The drinking and dining facilities are extensive and offer much choice. The main bar area could be noisy; breakfast bar high chairs and mini tables so not much scope for eating here. However there are several quieter areas with different styles of seating and decor, so take your choice.
Extensive menu and wine list but wines, unsurprisingly, are pricey.
To enjoy really well prepared, cooked and presented food, look no further.

Spanking visit. Very attentive and friendly staff considering how busy they were. Food and drinks very good. I was impressed when the food was served as multiple staff assisted to ensure we all got our meals at the same time as there were quite a few of us. With outdoor space to use as well we were very relaxed and happy with everything. We will be back
